So many countries

There are around 200 different countries and the world is a large place. Therefore it is challenging to see many countries in the world during a lifetime. I am an experienced traveler and I have been lucky enough to see around 60 different countries.
I have been lucky enough to see many of the places on my travel wish list. I went to South America for the first time last year and loved it. I was happy to be able to back there this year. I saw many of the European countries in my younger days because geographically they are on my doorstop.
Think about which countries you have seen already. Were they near your home country or were they the other side of the world from your homeland? Which places are you keen to see in the future?

I haven't seen all 50 states much less that many countries.
However, if you ever get to the U.S., remember that there is little in common with States in the northeast with the ones in the southwest, and Texas did used to be its own country, as well as Hawaii...

I think you would like Texas. Since you like beaches, Padre Island would probably be your favorite.
If you want the big city thing, Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. We have wild life refuges and dude ranches.
Deserts and swamps, rolling plains and piney woods, Texas just about anything a tourist might want to do.

India is a big country where I come from. I have covered a bit of India - Bangalore,Mysore, Delhi, Agra, Darjeeling, Kashmir, Ooty, Chennai, Calcutta, Trivandrum,Kanyakumari - the Southern most tip of India and Goa. These places more or less represent what India offers.
I started my foreign travel covering Singapore and Bangkok. This was my first foreign holiday and the child in me made me run from mall to mall doing my shopping. I had never seen a mall before! It was Christmas time and all the malls were so beautifully decorated and so too the roads in Singapore! From then on I have never looked back - 7 European countries, North, South, East and West of America, a bit of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Nepal. Nepal was at Company's expense where I was sent to organise a conference for delegates that were coming from different parts of the world.
After my road accident however I have not ventured or dared to go anywhere but hope to one day. When that happens it will be off to Alaska!!!

Hello All Knowing. I think that you have done superbly to see so much of India. I am pleased that you have visited Thailand and Singapore. Company travel took you to Nepal so that was great. It was a shame you suffered a road accident.

Surely, your the few lucky person out of the 7 billion plus people in the world who had gone to so much country in your lifetime. I would be as lucky as your are if I could at least visit 30 countries in my lifetime. So far I've only been to five countries. And I am hoping to visit two or three in the next two years. The good thing is that my company is global, so I had the chance to visit other parts of the world thru my company's support. I just hope that I can visit as much country as you during this lifetime.

You are so lucky. I haven't been to any country outside of my own ever since. It has been my wish that I could go out of the country but I guess it won't happen to me and it will just remain a dream and wish for the rest of my life. However, there is still hope and I hope that will really come.

I am happy for you that you have traveled 60 countries already. only 140 left to go before you make it all around. Have you visited Fiji Islands? It is my country. I am at the moment in India. So, if you are coming here. give a shout. good day to you.

On my trip around the world my route included Fiji. I adored spending time on Beachcomber Island in particular. I found Fiji so delightful that I hoped to visit more places in the South Pacific Ocean. So on my next opportunity I visited French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Samoa. Samoa is my favorite country of the many I have visited. Thanks for your lovely response.

Some days ago I searched online and I found a list of the all the countries in the world. I copied them and pasted them in a word document and divided them into 3 groups. The first group contains the countries that I have visited, the second group contains the safe and visa-free countries that I want to visit and the countries in the third group are the problematic countries (countries that are unsafe to visit at the moment because of civil wars or other problems, countries where it is hard and expensive to get a visa, countries like Bhutan that are too expensive for my budget etc) I would like to visit some of the countries from "the problematic list" one day, but those countries aren't my first priority.
I have visited many of the other European countries in the past, in November and December I am going to visit Asia for the first time. In the future I want to visit most of the countries in Asia and I have planned to 2 trips to Asia after the first one. I will visit Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong around 2016 and South Korea and Japan a few years later. After that I want to visit most of the countries in South America and Central America and many of the African countries. I would also like to go on a roadtrip in the US and travel around for a couple of months and visit many different states.

Thanks for your excellent response. What you did with the list of countries was very impressive indeed. I know what you mean about how attractive a visa free country that you wish to visit is. I think the cost of visiting Bhutan is very very much more expensive than I could afford. Having seen photos of it I know I would love the architecture and the stunning looking landscapes. Nepal would be a cheaper alternative maybe. Yes, areas at war at not tempting right now. The man visiting every country had to pick carefully an area in Iraq and he got arrested in the Congo. Something similar happened to him in the Cape Verde Islands. I like your plans for future travels. I have followed with interest your planned trip beginning Thailand. You are sure to see a lot more places in Asia during the next few years. Good luck and happy traveling.

Hi max,
Wow!!..60 countries is "superv". I have not visited countries, only places here in my country. I am happy for you, to be able to travel around the world is really great, fun and very informative. I am just curious how you are able to save money to travel countries just for vacation? I really think you are a rich person and owns a big company.. :), just my perception..hehehe.. Well, i guess, i really hope someday i can visit at least 5 countries.. I would really be happy and contented on it already.. :) Happy Mylotting!!!
