The ATM Machine Went Offline

Before I went back to my place of assignment, I drop by at the nearest atm machine to withdraw some amount. I was able to enter the amount when all of a sudden, the machine stop working. When the receipt came out, the amount was already deducted from my balance, but the money was not dispensed. I immediately went to the main office of the bank to report what had happened and the officer incharge told me to come back tomorrow to file a form so that the amount will be credited back to my account. How can I do that? We are not allowed to leave our station during office days? What shall I do now? If I did not report this thing it will be considered as valid transaction.

Thanks for sharing in details, I am so sad to hear this, such things happen here too, last evening I went to buy stuffs from market here; but as hubby’s pension was credited to his account , so we try to draw money from the counter near the temple close to our home,, it had no money, we went to three others; in one the doors were open, in second there was a dog and a calf. There was no armed guard too. The last one was working, while i tried there it suddenly went off line

Hi. This really happens. And this is one thing that I hate being an employed. I cannot process things I have to process at once. Too bad but we really have to sacrifice. We cannot help but to really excuse from the office if the case cannot be solved through the phone. Sometimes, I also do not understand banks for not extending consideration to employed like us and just do something to solve the problem through phone..Is not the phone and email make business system faster, easier and make us transact without leaving home?.. Anyways, hope things will get better with you very soon.

It happened to me once and had to go directly to the bank. Sorry that you couldn't do your errand . I hope that everything is up an running for you. I would ask the bank to fix the problem with your bank account, it can't like that. If they can't well let them know that you can change for another bank and let them down.

Hi friend, don't worry. This kind of problems are quite common. Last month i went to ATM center to withdraw my money for my emergency needs. I input the card and entered the amount and waited some time to get my money, but unfortunately i don't received any money due to ATM problem. The cash in the ATM box is empty and they need to fill the cash. But the entered amount was debited from my account and i got the balance slip with reduced money. I used a different bank ATM which is near by to my home. I called my bank customer service and placed a complaint about this issue. They told me that they will credit the money in our account within 24 to 48 hours, if we withdraw the money in the same bank ATM. But it will take around a week, if we used another bank ATM to withdraw the money. As i used a different ATM, i am in need to wait for a week. The amount is high, some i am waited with little bit tensed. But i hope i will get the money, as i am working hard for it. After a week i checked my balance and the amount is credited in my account. We must be careful while using ATM and aware about this kind of issues. If you experience this kind of problem, don't worry just place a complaint about your withdrawal with the transaction number. The bank persons will take care about it and credit your money soon in your account.

This has happened to me a couple of times before. Sadly, you have no other choice but to personally file the claim for a speedy process. The fastest I had this processed was 10 banking days. You have no choice but to ask for a few minutes' break from your work to personally see this matter. I'm sure they will understand, and you can show them your claim form from the bank to substantiate your claim. Hope you get your money back soon.

I would recommend telephoning the bank to register the fact rather than leave it for too long before returning. I had a similar experience a long time ago because my cashcard was beginning to split. The machine counted out the cash and then partially dispensed the card, which was stuck because the split ends of the card were catching against the slot. I tried to work it loose but it timed out and aborted the transaction without actually dispensing any cash. When I telephoned the bank I was informed that the money had been deducted and then put back into my account the following minute. Hopefully the same may have happened in your case and no money has actually gone out of the account.

The bank will be able to see that the cash wasn't dispensed when they look at the error logs of that machine. Call them and explain your difficulty of not being able to call in to fill out a form because you are working. Banks do not defraud their customers intentionally and they will do their best to make sure that you do not lose the money.

Try calling the office and explaining your situation. Request an appointment during your next visit home. Hang on to your receipt as proof. If they do not want to accommodate you, send them a formal request in writing with certified return receipt so that you can prove you sent them a correspondence and that they received it. I hope you will get it straightened out.

Thanks roberten. This is perhaps the effect of violating a rule. I went home without a pass slip. I will call the bank tomorrow. Have a nice day!

Hi minmin. Things like this really happen sometimes. However, on my situation, I have to return to my place of assignment and I don't have time to deal with this matter tomorrow. I just hope the bank would accept complaints through the phone.
