Lowering Food Costs

I enjoy eating out whenever there are free coupons or buy 1 get 1 free, as sometimes we can really stretch that free meal. Its nice to be able to get out of the house and skip cooking when its hot like now. Recently, I received a free coupon to McDonalds for Spicy Chicken McBites. Several of the other food places have been sending buy 1 get 1 free and with the portion sizes we can eat there and bring home enough food to eat another meal. Marie Calenders was one of the places we recently ate and the food is really good. They gave us cornbread to take home last time. What is the last free food you ate?

Subway was the last free meal I ate. I got 3 sandwhiches for free. I had been saving my points for years and finaly cashed them in. I did get a free shake at McDonalds with a coupon but I had to pay for everything else so it wasnt a free meal. I try to not eat out unless we have a great coupon.

I agree that its best to eat out with a great coupon. My area has had a lot of buy 1 get 1 free deals, so I'm seeing a lot of people eating out using coupons. We went to Outback Steak House about a month ago and at least 6 tables used coupons. Thanks for posting.

Yes when eating out I prefer to either go at lunch when prices are lower or use a coupon. I got the one coupon also for the McBites, I gave them to my hubby as a treat one day along with a .99 44oz icee from speedway. He said the regular McBites was only worth the coupon it was printed on and he was disappointed in the portion size. But I'm sure there's tons of calories already packed in there why fill your stomach?

I agree about the calories and my husband agreed with your husband on portion size. I'm glad we each have an account, as its to small to share. We don't have a Speedway here wish we did as have a gift card to the place. Thanks for posting.

Well, we went to a restaurant last night and expected to pay, but the service was so lousy that the manager comped the meal. SERIOUSLY, and the biggest bad thing was that the waitress was TRAINING a new gal! I hope the new gal does better than the one training!

I never eat free unless someone invites me or a get a bite or two of something while I´m shopping at the super. There are no food coupons that I know in my country although some food have a discount on certain days of the week. I lower my food costs by cooking from scratch. And when I say scratch, I mean I soak dry beans instead of opening an can. I use a pressure cooker for a lot of foods (specially legumes or cheper meats) as it saves gas.

I'm planning to buy a pressure cooker to have stewed tomatoes year round. Also want to turn some of my tomatoes into sauces for the winter months when I can't grow tomatoes successfully. Thanks for posting.

I'm not sure if you would consider this as counting, but I do so. The last time that we were able to eat for free was about two weeks ago and we were actually pretty much able to eat for free for two weeks. You see, Krogers had a promotion going on that you would get $25 in free groceries to transfer a prescription to them. My husband had several prescriptions that needed to be filled, so we transferred all of them to Kroger and ended up getting $125 in free groceries. It sure was something that helped us stretch our budget.

Wow, that is a huge savings and you will be able to use that money for something else. My daughter transferred one of her prescriptions to save some money. Thanks for posting.

It's wonderful that you can have free meal. Well, I never had that chance to have it. But I experienced the"buy 1 get 1 free". It's good that we can lower food costs by doing that. Thanks for sharing!

The b1g1f coupons are great. Today we used a coupon for lunch. I saw all the tables near us use a coupon. People don't need to pay full price today. Thanks for the reply.

I am not really sure. It's been a little while since I've eaten out. I think maybe a few months ago I took a survey and got a free taco from Taco Beuno. Taco Beuno is my favorite fast food Mexican restaurant, so I was happy.

One reason I posted this was to find some free food from others. I bet many that read this post will be checking out this place. Its not located in my area or I sure would visit the place. Thanks for posting.

Me and some friends ate at Savory and they have a promo that if our bill reached 1,000 pesos and we use a certain credit card we get to have free stir fried noodles with dumplings. Since I'm the only one who have that card, we all chipped in and they gave me the money for our bill and I used my credit card to pay for it. We got our noodles and it's worth it because we were able to snack on it later on. I love freebies and I also want to take advantage of promos like this, not only for foods but for anything I may need.
