I can't stand our health care system!

Okay, the doc ordered a new inhalant for me to help treat the scarring in my lungs and to prevent them from getting worse. He said it would ne cheaper to get it through the company and they would chRge Medicare part b or something. I sIs just let it go to the pharmacy to go through my Medicare part d. He sId it would be cheaper. I said what will the copay br? He said not much.
Like hellllllll! The man from Charmicles just came with my inhalants and there was a $175 copay with it. I had to refuse the order. I got so upset. I started losing my balance and talking stupid.
My daughter will call my doc in the morning and report that I could not get this medicine because the copay I'd out of my reach.
My daughter is scared to death because every time she googles scarring in the lungs it goes to a cancer page. She is so afraid I have lung cancer. I told her to stop worrying about that because the doc didn't mention cancer to us.
I have to cancel my surgical followup because I don't have copay for that. I still have these metal stitches in me that are supposed to disintegrate on their own. I got one out. It was loose. I'm sore where I tugged on others. I figure if I can't get to the doc I could somehow get the metal stitches out myself.
I'm really upset now because if you can't afford healthcare you should just die and be done with it. That's how I feel right now.
I hope this all works out. My daughter will do some calling tomorrow.

It's unbelievable what you have to put up with. I don't know what to say because I'm in shock at what's been happening to you lately.
I wish I could fly you over here for some free treatment, I really do. You deserve better.

Ths is the first time I've felt totally helpless. I guess it will work out however it does.
Our medical system is based in the high dollars that docs get. The pharmaceuticals too. Ridiculous.

Here is a link to a site that seems to cover a wide variety of lung disease and scarring. I hope you can learn something here and feel better informed, without having to look for or expect cancer.

For some prescriptions, if you cannot afford them, the pharmaceutical companies will provide free directly through the doctor. In the past there have also been grants that cover treatments. I do not know, I have not been to a doctor in about three years. It is not all the "health care system" it is also the high prices the pharmaceutical manufacturers charge to the pharmacies. I hope you get it figured out. I know when my great niece lived with me when she was little I had some work done for her by a specialist ( pediatric spinal specialist) It turned out they did not accept her medical card (medicaid) so I scraped up the $900. After I pay it, the specialists says, "Oh, if I had known that we have a grant for people who cannot pay, but you cannot apply because you already took care of it."

Nope, they sure could not. I took her, and I really expected that if it was not covered her mom would pay me, but she had gotten to where she did not even pay me the little bit I charged her for keeping the child and caring for her while mom drove a truck.

Hi PointlessQuestions, I feel so fortunate to live in Canada as I believe we have one of the best health care systems in the world. Many family members and friends have had health issues over the years and most things are covered by our government health care. It isn't perfect of course, nothing ever is, but I have yet to hear of anything that is better. I hope everything works out for you because I feel that if we can't afford health care, we cannot afford anything. Blessings.

Hi Aunt Hatley. I'm 62 and I have Humana Medicare. It's good insurance. I think if the doc sent the order to my pharmacy I might have got just a $2 copay or if they wouldn't cover it, maybe find a similar generic.

Oh gosh, sorry you have to go through all this! It all has to do with money - I just don't get how in the world they can suck up everyone's money like this when they say they are trying to save people's lives. I hate that every doctor's office I've been to, the first question is more about how things will be paid for - it's like our health actually comes second in importance. I hope things can work out for you somehow - there must be a way!!!!!!

By toorrow I should have the inhalant I need. I still have some samples left. That Brovana is about $400 or $500 a month cause it's new. When the partake runs out it should have a generic and be cheaper. But until then something is going to have to give.
Love
