I had no idea Good Will had outlets. Then again on this list here that I found http://frugalliving.about.com/od/bargainshopping/qt/Goodwill_Outlet.htm my state isn't listed of course. Either way I thought this may help one of us out there who is on the list or who frequents thrift shops. And if you have an outlet by you are the prices as reduced as the site mentions? I know our local stores take whatever items haven't sold and sell them by the pound to countries overseas.

I have been to a goodwill outlet store and was amazed at the prices. I didnot buy much but I did find a few things that were really really cheap. I guess that figure it is the best way to move the stuff off the shelves and make way for new. If they have what you are looking for you can find stuff cheaper than dirt.

In our Goodwill stores after things have been there a few weeks they put it in shopping carts and reduce the price.

This is definitely something that is new to me, but I really don't know that you are missing out anything by not having a Goodwill outlet in your state. The reason that I say that is because of the fact that most of the thrift stores have sale days and you are able to get great discounts on those days. For me, the store that I choose is Salvation Army because they have half-price day on Wednesdays and I'm able to find great bargains on those days. I picked up the majority of my children's school uniforms from the store and only spent about fifty dollars total.

I have heard of them, just no where near me. I will check your link. I know some of our local thrift stores donate fabric items to be made into rags, if nothing else.

Thanks for this link. Unfortunately for me the locations are all in the western part of NC. I was hoping we could go see the leaves this year when they start changing colors. I think I will mark the page so that we can stop by one of them on the way there to the mountains. Thanks for the links.

Yes, absolutely! I have gone to this type of thrift store loyally for the past several years - we have a couple in close distance to my city. It's great, and sometimes you are literally paying cents on the dollar for a shirt...But at times it can also be difficult to find things!

I've been to the one in Aurora, CO and it isn't that great, so I doubt you're missing much. Our local Goodwill has sales where everything in the store is half price, so we can really find some bargains then. The last time, I went looking for a white sheet to make pillowcases out of to embroider and I found two fitted white sheets. Their sheets are $2 each, so at half price, I got one very good fitted sheet for my bed and one very good fitted sheet to make pillowcases from for $2.13, including tax. I don't know where I could beat that. Anyway, I wasn't impressed with the outlet in Aurora. They had a lot of stuff, but the prices didn't seem much lower, if any at all, to what I can get here. I don't know if they're all like that, though.

I didn't know they had outlet stores! There is one near me but I'm not going since I'm trying to sell my house and move. I wrote down the address of the one in Phoenix, where I'll be moving. I hope they have something other than leftover junk that no one would buy! I also didn't know they sold their excess to other countries, that's a smart move on their part.
