How you choose destinations

On my trip around the world I wished to visit the beautiful city called Sydney in Australia. When I went there I saw the white sails that were the opera house and a coat hanger looking like harbor bridge. I loved walking around the botanical gardens and I adored seeing the friendly birds like the cockatoos. Wow! Sydney is still my favorite city all these years later. I wished to see islands in the Pacific Ocean and on my trip around the world I was lucky enough to see Hawaii and Fiji. Years later on a trip to New Zealand on the way there I visited French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. I just knew to take these tropical stopovers because I love white sand palm fringed beaches and palm trees. Samoa is my favorite country. It is impossible to see the whole world on one trip. That is why I go to different places each year. How do you choose the destinations you go to or wish to visit?

I base it on things that my husband and I like. He likes golf and I like fibers. So we'd love to go to Scotland and probably Ireland.

It is lovely that you base your destination on your husbands feelings. Golf courses can be situated in some lovely looking countryside I think. I hope that you both visit Scotland and Ireland.

I hope so, too. With our current economics, I don't know how, but maybe some day.

You are very lucky to have a chance to visit different places around the world. I only travel outside my country because of my job but for being a tourist, never did. As of the moment I need to do job abroad for a money. I hope one of this days I can tour some of my favorite places around the world. Just want to spend my time first to visit some of the tourist spots within the Philippines. I have 3 remaining in my list to visit soon; Boracay, Palawan and Bohol.

I often get interested in a certain country because I read or hear about it or because I meet a person from that country. In 1997 I spent some time in an international school in my country. My roommate was a girl from Estonia and she told me about her country. Our conversations made me interested in visiting Estoina and I 1999/2000 I found a job in Estonia and I lived there for a while. It was very interesting to experience the country that I had heard so much about. When I lived in the north of Denmark my neighbour was a girl from Indonesia and we became close friends. Because of her I got interested in visiting Indonesia and I it is one of my travel goals to visit Indonesia in the future. When I was younger I had many snail mail penfriends from other countries and I enjoyed hearing about the places where they lived. We exchanged postcards, pictures, music, souvenirs and many other things and I became interested in visiting their countries. My penpal from Italy invited me to visit her and her family and I had an amazing time there. I love to read books about travelling and when I read about a place that sounds interesting I add it too my travel wishlist. The list is already very, very long and it continues to grow.

I like the sound of your very long travel wish list for the future. I do imagine you are going to add plenty more places to it. It was interesting you got interested in some countries through your pen friends. I hope that you will visit Indonesia. I visited it in 1994 and had a wonderful time. I watched a documentary about a group of inexperienced travelers going on a journey through Indonesia.

I usually choose my destinations on other people's recommendations. I would also be interested if it's got anything that I haven't seen or experience before, i.e. snow, desert, the tropics, historical places and lots of beautiful places to take pictures on.

Asking other people is a good idea and taking their recommendations can be useful. Visit Eastern Europe in the winter to see snow. I love the tropical islands. Historical places can be ever so interesting. New Zealand is the most beautiful country that I have traveled to.

I actually look for deals online for good savings. There are some websites who offer packages to different destinations and from there I choose to which I can afford. After choosing, I search for reviews on that place on the internet so that i can assure that i can enjoy the place that i will visiting.

It is wise to research the weather. I like the dry season and the wet season could be miserable. On a trip around the world than it is likely the traveler will be in some places when it is not the best weather. I went to Darwin in the wet season. It was more hot and humid than Cairns. Every time I have been to California it has been in the winter.
