So there's this thing going around on Facebook now saying that instant noodles contain wax coating which is used in styrofoam cntainers. Reason for it is so that they don't stick to each other while cooking. It says out bodies need up to 2 days to clean the wax, and to not eat a pack of noodles again for at least 3 days after a session of noodles. It could cause Cancer. Are you already aware of this or do you think it's a hoax? I don't eat them so I don't have a problem with it either way but I know there used to be something where college students used to eat them alot on a budget. Did you eat them in college?

Well then you shouldn't eat apples, cucumbers, peppers or any other shiny fruits and vegetables because they are all waxed to look pretty. There are a lot of chemicals much worse than a bit of wax. lol

I can't eat pepper because I'm allergic, but my point was a lot of foods are waxed. I highly doubt the noodles are waxed.

Really? Allergy to pepper I have not heard that before. I just know it makes people sneeze sometimes. I did foresee your point about alot of food with wax on them, and if I try those noodles again ever I will check on them to see if they look waxy to me. If they don't change the ingredients by then.

i always peel the cucumbers that i get at the store. i don't eat peppers due to a health concern i have had before which is now in remission. i know there are worse chemicals but this is an article just telling us about the noodles and what is one them that alot of people didn't know about before, including me.

Yes.. I used to eat them 3 - 4 times a week when I don't really have enough budget for buying some better foods :D It is quite cheap , the price is about USD0,2 -USD0,5 But yes - when I ate that too much somehow I would get headache and hard to breath. That's why I have been reducing the frequency to twice a month :)

The headache is probably from the MSG in the flavoring package. Many people get headaches from it. If you can buy a jar of soup powder without MSG, then you can replace the flavoring and you will find your headaches gone. Also look for "no MSG" on the label.

that is pretty cheap, its sad when the poor get to only have the cheaper foods which usually aren't too healthy. i am sure the headache was caused possibly by the wax or by what thecatlady said too if they have msg in them that is. hard to breathe wow, i wouldn't eat them ever again, you might even be allergic to something in them.

Yup -- it is so cheap . But unfortunately , instant noodles isn't favorite food for the poor anymore . It is kinda a food icon of my country - if you ever heard "Indomie" And yes - there were some issues about the wax , msg, and the seasoning that have been the reason why "Indomie" ever been listed as blacklist food in China . But it didn't happen in my country - such the government was blind - the product is still sold in here. And I hardly find instant noodle with no MSG on the label in here. I guess MSG is the most ingredient nowadays :( BTW, I think instant noodles is different from Ramen noodles . I ever ate ramen noodles twice - and it looked like the noodled wasn't waxed . And the seasoning didn't get me headache (I'm not sure if there was MSG or not since the pack was in Japanese language :D )

It's a hoax. The only thing wrong with Ramen Noodles is that the packet of broth it includes has a lot of sodium, or salt.

Is it? I think Snopes might have it on their site then if it is or maybe someone should tell them about it. The MSG and packet probably has all the wrong things in it too.

I have eaten Romen noodles before. Too salty for my tastes but when you're hungry and there isn't anything else they will do. I wouldn't past the company for putting alittle wax them for the purpose you mentioned. We really have to watch things that we eat now days because of such things.

i might have tried them long ago and i don't believe i liked them or otherwise i might have tried them again, obviously. i wouldn't be surprised either if they did that to get their product salable. yes we should watch what we eat i'm sure on many items at the grocery store.

If the ingredient is more than an inch long I'd check it.

Hi, I don't like instant dry noodles. II like to eat soupy noodles. I heard about something like this that instant noodles are not good for our health. they may cause cancer. But sometimes when we are hurry the instant noodles can be cooked in two minutes and useful to satisfy our hunger.

soupy noodles in soup i presume are much better tasting and don't have that waxy coating. if we're too hungry to cook then i'd rather just choose some fruit or a piece of bread with peanut butter on it.

I used to eat this during college days, especially if there is no time to cook. If this alarming issue is true, then our liver will be a difficult time to filter the chemical substance from the styrofoam.

Oh, I ate some and is still eating nowadays. I seldom eat noodles only once or twice in one or two months. I hope people won't eat a lot of noodles from now on. It will just cause them some sickness and the most serious one is cancer. Thanks for sharing. Happy mylotting.

if you eat them in small amounts they probably won't do you any harm, but am concerned with everything they say can cause cancer these days. it seems everything can so then people give up and just eat what they like, anyways.

Really? I am not sure about what you have said, but I'll keep that in mind. I think anyone of us has eaten ramen noodles. I try to avoid eating those kinds of food coz I know it is not healthy. But when I am lazy to cook other food or buy something to eat, ramen noodles answer my hunger.

well i didn't say it but found out the info from that article. i don't even eat those kind of noodles but thought i might be able to warn those who do. it's a shame they are bad for you cause i know they are pretty cheap and for people on a budget they are sometimes a life saver. i know people sometimes just like the taste too.
