i mean of course we need sheet or sheets of paper when we are writing, but what are you using in writing? is it a pen or a ballpen? for me, i would like to use pencil in writing. when i have examinations, quizzes, making drafts, jotting down important notes, making poems, songs, essays and etc. - i used pencil for doing these things. why? i feel advantageous when i used this writing material it is because it is easy to erase and in making corrections. so my work would be clean, at least. unlike when i used ballpen, it is hard to make corrections and that if you do, your work would be messy to see because of corrections and of erasures. so from the two given materials, i love using ballpen. i know that it has disadvantages too upon using it. it can be erased easily if someone would making fool or fun of you. so be aware. and that using it is not formal, and that is it okay to use it when you are making drafts and writing informal letters or jotting down. and should use ballpen to make used of it, making myself good if cannot perfect it in writing activities, that i should be careful not to make mistakes to have a clean output. very necessary to the field i had chosen someday. you know teaching profession is great in having school paper works and in making lesson plans, school records, and etc. but what i can do, so as my professor in the school i used to enrol used to asked me that why i used pencil everytime we have writing activities (quizzes, exams, writing essays, poetry, etc). my answer is simple, it is because sir, i can easily erase and make corrections to my piece or activities i do in writing. and you know what, one of my classmate used the same thing too, maybe he was contaminated by me or yet, he saw the relevance of using pencils in writing. thanks buddies ")

Well, I must say that you're the first person I hear say that you love use a pencil rather than a pen. Everyone does as he believes, however, I note that there are some things which are absolutely not allowed to write with a pencil. Just think of the important documents such as bank checks, certificates, various documents, tickets for public transport, etc.. Even if a monthly subscription bus is completed in pencil, and then erasable you could also, if controlled, be liable to a penalty. So in my opinion better to use the pencil only for their own drafts at home.

oh yes, haha.. i know the distinction and the inportance of using ballpens in writing important signatories or formal write - ups. since it is okay with all of my professors as i used pencil with my quizzes and writing activities, i have no problem using it. but of course, i know when to use ballpen and to use pencil. just enjoy using pencils because it can be erased easily. thanks alberello

I'm going to be the second, alberello. I enjoy using a pencil for all creative work but I agree that forms and anything formal must be done in ink, whether ballpoint or fountain pen. I like the feel of a soft lead pencil on paper and perhaps because of that I write much more tidily. I take my time about it. It never runs and it does not dry up. I even enjoy the process of sharpening it when necessary. I do all my drafts in pencil, especially if I write poetry or anything that needs to be edited several times. I have a soft rubber that erases well and my drafts look good even after several amendments.

While in school in class one that was in 1951, we had to use slates made of real stone and chalk, next we used pencil and paper, next step was use of pen and ink, but we had to use a pen that had split nib and we carried ink in a inkpot there were no ball pens, while i was in class 3rd my dad gave me a fountain pen.. ball pens came much later..

Whilst ball pens are very useful and convinient, I would still always use my fountain pen for preference, I'm just alot more comfortable writing with it, failing that I'll use a pencil before being reduced to using ball points.

never tried using that pen dipped in ink. my mom told me that in older times, students used stick and leaves of bananas as their materials for writing. then later on thus one like you mentioned. oh yes nowadays, lots of brands of ballpens are sold in the market. you just what you want. sometimes i hate to buy ballpens because even the ink is not used a half of its proportion, this ballpen would not write at all. @watersprite - maybe you can tell me what is the whilst ballpens? just curious about it. i do not know that one maybe you can share it to me only if you feels like to do it so. so thanks to both of you for the replies in here.

Unless I am filling out some paperwork I use my computer or phone. I hate to write and when I learned how to type and send emails and such that was the best thing ever.

well, i should not choose teaching career and should choose medicine courses for am too lazy to write. if you can only see my writings, gosh, not good penmanship at all. it looks like written by doctor as he gives receipt to his patience for what one should buy a medicine. but if i need to write goodly or neatly, i can see that i have a good penmanship. how many times i was being selected as secretary in the class and on any school organizations and club before way back in high school. so that means, my writing strokes were too far off. but i guess our interest to write would somehow the result of our writing styles. i do not know why it is too tiring now when i write something more if i am in a hurry. better thing that my professors could understood my writing activities now in college thanks for joining in here :)

so good for you that you found it romantic as you use pencil in writing. oh yes, i agree with you, it is so easy to erase to make some corrections or erasing incorrect informations, or correcting spellings, grammars and change the deliberation or thought of your message as you write it in a piece of paper. thanks to you for replying and have a happy day... :)

I would always use pencil at school to take notes because I didn't see the point in using pen since I would always write my notes out in clean when I got back home. For me, I use pen when I want something to look nice and I already know what to write. Pencil for me is when I write in rough or when I'm forced to write really fast. Out of pens I always use ball point pens, I tried using fountain pens before because when I see people write with them it looks so nice, nicer than with a ball point pen. But then I tried to to write with one myself and soon gave up. It smudges too much and it was always hard for me to get things to look as nice. Ball points are simple and don't run out as fast as fountain pens and don't have to be constantly sharpened like pencils but on the other hand pencils don't run out as fast. Overall I use ball point pens now and pencil only when I want to write something out in rough before writing it in a nice way.

I actually love using a number 2 pencil because it's so easy to use and I love the way it writes, and if you make a mistake you can easily erase it, the only hassle is that you have to deal with pencil shavings but that's not a big problem fo me. I don't really like mechanical pencils because the lead tends to brake very easily and if you run out you need the correct number of lead and I find that really annoying and I don't like the way it writes. I like pens as well because the writing just flows out of the pen, but for me it just seems a bit more messier for me, because you can always smudge it by accident and it makes a mess on your paper, your work surface and even your hand. So that's why I prefer to use number 2 pencils! :)

I usually use a pen when I write. I only use a pencil if it is an exam. I like to use a pen because it is often cleaner to use than a pencil.

when exam for board, the material being used is pencil. you must shade it properly to make it correct and so that the machine would not jump with your other answers. i use pen when i write formal piece. thanks for joining in here :)

Sometimes I use both. But when I make a mistake while writing in pen, I just use whiteout to correct my mistakes. For those that don't know what whiteout is its this white looking paste that looks like nail polish.

I use those erasable ballpens. Yep, they are ballpens but they have an eraser on the opposite tip which well, erases the ink on paper. I love using different colors of ball pen inks. I like seeing them in paper lol!

really? i do not know that until now that you tell us it here. all i knew is that ballpens are hard to erase. erasures can make your work messy and dirty. i love coloured pen too. it would give delight to the sight seeing different ink colors written on paper. thanks ever for joining here - God bless
