I budget for the brats food, especially Marco having fresh veggies now the two new guinea pigs. I know I spend a lot of money on them, bbut I make sure I have the basic food for them at least. The girl I work with just adopted a new rabbit, now she doesnt drive, and a little dependent on her parents. Ive been driving for years, and supporting myself. So buying extra veggies with my food is nothing. She was saying how all she had was cauliflower, and brocolli for her rabbit. I shook my head, as they should have a variety. Marco gets 3 -4 pieces of lettuce, 1 big carrot or a couple small ones, a couple stalks of celery, and the odd fruit for a treat. He has fresh herbs, and I get dandelion leaves or raidhs leaves on occassions. He gets abig plate each night for supper, then his hay and pellets. She was feeding her rabbit only the two (which arnt recommended as they are very gasey). I asked why she doesnt walk up to the grocery store, she complained its a 40 minute walk, and she has to go when her parents do.

I think maybe you should accompany the girl to help her get food. I don't know how close you guys are but it's a recommendation. It'll help her out and you can always buy food for yourself along the way. I see it as a win-win situation.

I love 25 mminutes one way ot of town, and Im not using my money for gas to drive her around. I take care of my animals, and shop in between my 4 jobs, whereas she works 1 jobs - 4 days a week, she has the rest of the week sitting at home. She simple doesnt know what to do, and after I explain that she needs more variety she would change the subject.

If you choose to get a rabbit that rabbit is your responsibility and rabbits need a need a variety of vegetables. I think that it sounds like a stupid excuse that she doesn't want to walk to 40 minutes to buy vegetables for her rabbit. Her rabbits needs more than cauliflower and brocolli. I have 4 rabbits and they get a variety of vegetables for instance carrots, lettuce, celery and small pieces of cucumber and brocolli. I would never cut back on the money that I spend on vegetables or skip buying vegetables because I had to walk to the shop. Things like that is simply a natural part of having a rabbit.
