The politicians here are sucking us;the tax payers; to remain in power they can do anything. As per some policy to get vote from the poor (some are really rich), free electricity was provided to them; they are supposed to use it for lighting the home or hut. Yesterday I was out to a nearby village, please see the picture, I was surprised to see air-conditioner on the wall of this hut near the electric post on street. Just wonder how people misuse the facility given to them. It was learnt that this was given by a political leader to this owner of hut!!!! Anything similar at your place? Please comment on this and share your views. Thanks in advance. Prof. Bhuwan September 04 2012.

helo professor, most politicians would favor their political leaders. they might give them much comfort by giving gifts. but i dont agree to that way wherein it is very obvious that these politicians are abusing power. to think of it, they are not even elected yet. what if? you know what i mean? have a nice day. ann

Here most people have to pay for at least a portion of their own electricity consumption. There are some people that are able to get assistance with their utilities, but typically you still do have to pay some portion of the bill. With that said, there are also organizations here that will provide air conditioners to people that aren't able to afford buying them to add to their comfort and more importantly to help people that suffer from different health ailments.

Personally no matter what country you find yourself in, you often will find things like this happening and it makes you wonder why. A lot of times things like this, are often not appreciated and misused as people do not take time to appreciate something they never had to work for.

I don't think the air condition should be used for personal gain, especially if the monetary values came from due of the nation. We must be careful for this kind of accusations.

It is a sad thing when politicians are so inapt in their ability to obtain votes by their integrity of past deeds. Playing on the poor is a very old trick and as soon as the politician is elected I am sure that the "poor" people whose votes have been bought by free air conditioning, electricity, etc., will soon find the bill collector at their door.

Guess they will not be billed, it is we who will pay for them indirectly. How are you know? Thanks for your response and views.
