The world's most boring cities to visit

Tonight I visited a site where someone had made list of "the world's most boring cities to visit" according his/her opinion. The cities were Brussels in Belgium, Houston in Texas, Zurich in Switzerland, Singapore, Bratislava in Slovakia, Wellington in New Zealand and Oslo in Norway. Out of those cities I have only visited Bratislava and I don't find it boring at all. I think that it was a charming city and I loved the many unusual sculptures in the streets. I haven't been to Singapore, but based on the things that I read about it doesn't sound boring at all and I look forward to visiting Singapore in the future. What is your opinion about the cities from the list? If you live there or have visited those places, do you find them boring? Or do you disagree with the author of the article? Why? What is the most interesting and the least interesting place in your country? (in your opinion)

I am not sure what you mean. I have only visited one of the places that I mentioned. My discussion was based on an article that I found online and the person who wrote the article had been to all those places and and he or she found them boring. I would like to visit some of the places in the future especially Singapore

If you have the chance, try to travel. The world is not the same as written in the books. You have to see for your self what's out there. And you will know, that our world is really beautiful.

In that list, i used to visit Singapore only....and that guy is right, i don't think Singapore is interesting. There are some nice places to visit but all is not natural and if i want to know the local life style in there, it is not easy at all...

I am curious to find out if I will agree with you and the author of the article when I visit Singapore in the future. To me sounds like an interesting place because it is a multicultural place and I look forward to visit Chinatown, Little India etc because we don't have that kind of ethnic neighbourhoods in my country. There is a little bit of it in Copenhagen, but we don't have "real" ethnic neighbourhoods like Chinatown and on my island there is nothing at all not even a single international shop, and I find that very boring.

I think that what we find boring at a certain moment of our lives can become the most interesting place at another. I have been at some of those cities a very long time ago, so I have forgotten them. That could mean that they were boring, but also that there were other, more wonderful, places that I saw on the same trip. I visited Brussels on the same trip (and a few days apart) I made to Paris and London. All that was 45 years ago, but I still remember a lot from Paris and London yet only a couple of thing from Brussels. On that same trip I visited Zurich, almost at the begining of the trip because I stayed with my brother who was living in Lausanne at the time. My fondest memories of Switzerland were the beautiful countryside, the mountains and the Lac Lemans. Now I prefer places where I can rest and not have the need (or desire) to do too much because I don´t have much energy. When and if my energy comes back, I´d like to visit again Ciudad de Mexico, Rome, and see for the first time some cities in Greece and Istanbul.

I like the first sentence that you wrote, and I think it is true than a city that we find boring at one point could be a very interesting place at another time. If we visit many cities on the same trip we might be a little unfair when we judge some of those cities, because we find some of the other places more beautiful and memorable, that it my experience from the trips where I have visited many different cities. I also tend to lose some of my enthuasiam after a while. I always love to travel, but on a long trip where I have already visited many places I am often less impressed by the last places, because I have already seen so many other beautiful places. I have never been to Brussels so I can't really compare the city to Paris and London. It could be interesting to visit Brussels one day. I have seen a small part of Switzerland, but I haven't been to Zurich. I want to visit some of the beautiful places in Switzerland one day. I liked Rome and Thessaloniki in Greece. Istanbul is one of the places that I would like to visit in the future.

When I was young and we took some months off with my husband to travel, I discovered that my brain could only absorb part of what I was seeing. After a while, you have seen too much, learned too much and start saying that there`s no place like home

Each city in the world has something to offer. It depends on one's interest. Perhaps whoever talked of getting bored did not find what they were looking for. Just a thought.

I agree. I think that every city has something to offer. If you are looking for something specific you might get disappointed if you don't find what you are looking for, but if you visit a new city with a open mind and without specific expectations you can always find something interesting, that is my opinion. I have never visited a city that I found boring. I have visited places that I didn't find especially beautiful, but those places were still interesting simply because I had never been there before. Everything was a new experience and I don't think that I am ever going to find that boring.

Same here Porco... I remember when I was in South New Zealand I was wonder struck at the multitude of sheep grazing in the pastures that I could see while I was travelling by the tourist's bus. None of my co-passengers noticed it. I am a different kettle of fish having interests as mundane as the grazing sheep!

For me, I don't think any city would ever be boring. There must always be something that would catch my interest. I'm not a picky person. I think "boring" is a matter of perspective, and it all depends on the person's point of view and attitude towards things. We can't do anything, if he says he was bored. But, that does not mean that what he found boring will be boring to us.

I agree with that. Your definition of boring depends of your perspective. I guess that the author of that article, was disappointed in the places that he or she described in the list, and maybe the person visited those places and found them less interesting than other places, but that doesn't mean that other people would find those places boring as well. To me any city is interesting, and if I have never been there before there would always be something to explore. If the city isn't that beautiful I still find it interesting to visit it simply because it is different from the places that I know in my own country.

I agree with you. Totally. I am rarely bored because I don't allow my self to be. And, there is always something to see.

Well I can't help you on those ones but I can add a boring city that is true is " Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview ", New-Brunswick. I'm sorry but it ugly and polluted and the main road has so much traffic on it any time of the day, the traffic lights or not well synchronized, anyway and people here don't how to give you good directions when you don't know your way around, they are so proud of their Arcadian heritage that they are Dumb.I have nothing good to say about the place because I'm in it and proud to be Acadian.

I have visited all of those cities except Houston. I have been to Singapore three times and think it is fascinating. It is an excellent introduction to South East Asia. Last time I was there I went to its national park. There I saw monkeys and a sign which said there was a 10 thousand dollar fine for a person that fed the monkeys. I preferred Christchurch and Auckland to Wellington. I didn't find Wellington at all boring. Really the beauty of New Zealand is out of its cities and in the countryside. I liked the architecture in Bratislava. I enjoyed the museums in Oslo. I found Zurich charming and spent some time looking around its cathedral. I preferred Bruges and Ghent than I did Brussels. I found Brussels a little boring compared to Paris. Belgium is small so you could take a day out to another place on the train perhaps. I think Hinkley Point Power Station would be the most boring place to visit in my home country. By comparison York is a fascinating city which is loved by many different visitors. I like it very much indeed.

It is interesting to hear that you have visited most of the places the person mentioned in the article. That gives you the chance to compare his/her experiences and your own experiences in those cities. I look forward to visiting Singapore in the future. It sounds like such a multicultural place and that is one of the reasons why it sounds interesting to me. It is easy to find a flight from Europe to Singapore so I plan on starting my trip there. After Singapore I am going visit Malaysia and Indonesia. My Japanese friend lived in Christchurch for a while and she loved the place. I have never been to New Zealand, but I plan on visiting New Zealand and Australia one day. In Norway I have been to Bergen, but I haven't visited Oslo yet. I want to do that one day. There is a ferry from my country so it is quite easy to go there.

This is an interesting topic. I haven't been to these "boring" cities yet. Even though, I don't think they are boring cities. Whereas they are famous cities in the world. At least they have beautiful and natural scenery and it is worthy to visit them in my opinion. I love China

I have only been to one of those cities (Bratislava) andI liked that city. I think the other cities would be worth a visit as well. I would like to visit many of them. It is interesting that most of the cities that he or she mentioned are in Europe, I wonder where she author of the article is from. I am from Europe and personally I think there are a lot of interesting places to visit here and many different cultures to experience.

It depends on the person who visited a place. We have different likes and dislikes. We are unique creature. Although in some aspect we have similar basis on a certain things but mostly we have different measurement on what we say BORING or NOT BORING. Maybe for him the place was boring because the things they want it wasn't there but in other individual they like the place most because what he/she are there so we could frankly says it's actually a boring place. I will agree if more than 100 people told about it. The author should ask a survey before he/she proclaim the place as boring. Right? If I live to one of the places he/she mention of course I will be hurt of what she/he said to the people around the world. It seems he/she destroy the reputation of one place.

I've visited only one city out of that list and that would be Houston, TX just cause I live in Texas and I drive through there and I also have visited there a few times. I don't think that Houston is boring. I think that you just have to find the right things to do while there as in other cities as well. There is many places to visit like particular clubs there and there is a lot of stores and malls to visit as well. I have never visited any of the other cities that you have mentioned above, but it would be nice to visit them and I don't think I'd be bored on my first visit Just cause its a place that is new to me.

I don't think that I would be bored either. A new place is always interesting I think. When you explore a new place you never know what you are going to find and I think it is exciting to walk around in the new city. It is like a new adventure When my husband and I visit the US in the future we would like to visit some places in Texas, but we haven't decided which places we are going to visit and we have plenty of time to think about that because we not going to visit the US in the near future. I have only visited one of the cities that was mentioned in that article and that was Bratislava in Slovakia. I didn't agree with the author about that city and I thought that it was a charming city with beautiful houses and many unusual sculptures in the streets.

I think there are only the more and less interesting cities in the world. Every city has something to it, there is some history and something to learn about it. A person can find something interesting even in the cities that seem most boring. Because of this, despite not having visited these places, highly doubt that they could be the worlds most boring ones as I don't believe in there being such a thing as a boring city. Even if one is quiet that doesn't mean it's boring, just not as busy or lively as another. These things don't equate to boring.
