She was where?

I woke up early this morning, so I am kind of tired tonight. I thought that maybe I would just slip off to bed early, it seems like I'm tired enough to sleep without the medicine I usually use.
I went in and did the roomie's eye drops. I then went to take my phone into my bedroom and turn down the a.c. I kind of flopped across the bed so just my torso was on the mattress. I started teasing Sparky and Ping when I felt a cat scratching on the mattress. Now, this is one thing I really discourage because I don't want them to tear up my bed.
I lifted up and leaned over to scold the cat, and there was no cat there!
Then the fitted sheet moved.
There was a cat INSIDE my fitted sheet, no doubt wanting OUT because I had made it tighter by laying on it!
I picked up the edge of the sheet and Kismet tumbled out. She stood there, looking up at me.
Silly cat!
Kismet was only 3 weeks old when she was rescued, and has some of the strange habits of motherless cats, including burrowing into things, but this is the first time I've caught her burrowed up in my sheet! I'll have to make sure there are not strange lumps in my bed from now on!
Mind you, I have a TON of strange lumps in my bed because I have pillows around the middle of the bed, because I'm a side sleeper and this is a method I've discovered to save my shoulders. I also have a pillow at the foot because I have a problem with my Achilles Tendon shortening if my toe is pointed.
So, now I have to watch for lumps that DON'T belong there.
You ever found a cat IN your bed?
I've found many in the under part of the box spring, and made a few up in the bed while I'm making it, but this is the first time I've ever had a cat make herself up in the bed!

coco my little dog used to get up under the covers all the time. i kept warning everyone to please check things before they lay or sit on a bed. about 3 yrs ago she stopped that. so im wondering if someone may have slightly sat or layed on her.
she will not even stay under if i cover her, she sticks out her nose to see and smell.

I have made them up under the fitted sheet on purpose when they were interfering with me making the bed. I have also had them tear the underside of the box spring and crawl up inside the bed. Cats can get just about anywhere, but you know that.

Well, I can't say I've ever made up a cat into a bed, but I've had cats in my bed with me. They usually stay on top of the covers, though. I say usually, because there have been times when Harmony has gone under the covers, but only after I've already gotten in.

I've intentionally made cats up, because they were being too helpful, but I've always let them out, I've just never had a cat climb up under the fitted sheet before - guess it isn't fitting snugly enough... Because I have so many cats, they won't get under the covers for fear of being attacked in their sleep.

With so many cats, you really don't need covers.

hi ElixBxn yes I once had a female all black kitten who wo uld wake me in the morningy sitting on my chest and patting my lower lip with the softest paw.she never scratched but sure did wake me. then she would look right into my eyes as if to will me to get
up.the moment I sat u she was at the door and weaving in and out between my feet as I opened a can of her favorite cat food. that was one patient little cat and I hated it when we had to move to an apt as we could not have her but we did find a co ple who really loved her so I knew she wo uld have a good home.

yes my darn cat jumps up on the bed every time I try to make, she loves getting under the comforter. I have to drag her out because she just does not want to budge.
Tell me how to do you place the pillows for your shoulders, I always get up with aches and pains and numbness now because of the way I sleep.

I put the pillows under the waist and then I use a pillow for my head that kind of leaves a grove for my shoulders. Of course, they are really old pillows so they are kind of flat and they are under a couple of mattress toppers so it isn't as obvious as it might be.
This is the pillow I use...

I haven't had my cats make themselves up in the bed...yet...I won't tell them about Kismet because they might get ideas from her.
I've slept on cats before, and found them at the base of the bed under the top sheet and blankets when it's really cold. I've even found them in the couch having crawled between the back of the couch and the eat cushions. Murphy loves to curl up just under the blankets on my waterbed, and she loves to get under the top sheet when I am changing the bed sheets. She thinks it is so much fun to race around under the sheet and attack the "waves" in the waterbed. She doesn't hurt anything, but she has tons of fun.

Once, one of my feline nieces pulled a disappearing act. We looked everywhere for her, including going out and canvasing the neighborhood. Finally, just as we were about to give up hope of ever seeing her again, I happened to find that the bottom of the pillowcase of my bottommost pillow on my bed had a yawning fuzzy emerging from it. Did I mention that it was also one of the hottest days to date of that year? Weird cat...
Middle cat here is also a burrower. However, her burrowing has never involved pillowcases. She sticks to tunneling under the covers. She, too, lost her mama cat at a young age.

Aww that is so cute. I can imagine it would be very uncomfortable for you and for her. I would be very careful in the future before jumping into the bed. I wonder if she will outgrow the need to burrow?

Don't get me started on cat stories. I have a ton of them. Maybe I should start writing them down. Maybe there would be enough for a book and I could get published.
As it is I haven't had a cat friend for four years. I keep thinking I will get me a kitten again but my home life hasn't been stable enough to let me. Maybe after this next move I can give it some more thought.1 person likes this
