I volunteer to take some extra shifts, and the time of day makes me tired.

I realize this when I try to phone my phone number instead of the number to clock in, or then I try my passwords on the work computer where I read communications and chart about my clients. Then other phone numbers, like the one for my son, pop into my head for no reason. It kind of reminds me of the introduction to the show "Numb3rs" that hubby watches. Add to that scramble of numbers the fact that I have to use combination locks for four client's med boxes. Do you ever feel like your life is just a scramble of numbers and passwords. I am feeling that way this week.

You know GG, there's a song that is called "Feel Like A Number" and it is sooo true! I can't off hand remember the singer's name but I'm sure I will eventually.
Everything today is a number and so are we. No matter what we do or where we go, we are all just a number to something. And then, even if we make up passwords, that password is connected to a number. It's crazy out there.

I knew I'd remember it...the singer is Bob Seger.

I will have to check that out. It is funny how sometimes our mind goes off on a little trip of its own.

Weather is supposed to be cooling, but it was awful hot again--105 on Monday. 99 yesterday. We got some rain and that helped. How are you doing? I am sure it is hot there as well as dry.

I have been feeling like this lately. I am scrambling to get things done, and it frustrates me because I want to have a calm, relaxed life and instead am constantly busy and then I make mistakes and they slow me down.

That kind of overload can lead to mistakes, you are so right. Some mistakes can even be life threatening.

I know exactly what you mean. I am not sleeping well at all and my brain is like cotton wool. I forget the letters/numbers so I hve done the worst thung possible. I now have only one password and access number for every account that I possess. I have them all in a little diary but would change bags and forget to put in the diary.
Fatigue is awful and plays havoc so please try to get some rest. Blessings

I will rest more. I think on top of all the work related stuff I let some personal stuff get me all boggled. I still will take an extra shift or two. I need to pay the bills.

I work in a call centre and I am not just a number - I'm a whole set of numbers: Statistics, passwords, phone numbers etc. It can be confusing and depressing. It would be nice to be a real person sometimes.

Now that would be difficult. I really like the work part of work. Much of it is quite easy, it is just when tired the numbers are difficult.

Sounds like you are a very hard worker, perhaps you can take a vacation soon
?? Even a mini-vay-kay, for like a day or 2
?
Yes, numbers and combos and passwords are everywhere. A friend of mine a couple of years ago helped me simplify things by telling me to keep most of my passwords the same. It works like a charm although some would say that it is not the most secure of methods, but it works for me.

We will be going to a computer based clock in very soon. I do not know if it will still involve numbers for the program, and the house and my own number, or not. When things are assigned by work I have very little choice in what I choose.

I do occasionally get password overload and forget them all, usually just for a few seconds. When I am working (or playing) at the computer very late and if tiredness sneaks up on my I also recall bits of conversations that are not relevant to the task at hand. I wonder made those particular words come to mind. It is almost like a dream state, because in dreams sometimes we "remember" things that we didn't know we knew.

Pretend the snoring icon is passing out, as that is exactly what I'd do. All those numbers and doing it at a time your not used to? I'd have put on a pot of coffee and took a deep breath.

My permanent shift is the 6 am one. I think some of the overload is from some outside activities that I add in, just like frosting on a cake. A couple of afternoons this week I have snoozed rather soundly.

I take the extra shifts because we need the money, but I end up being a zombie. When I started this job it was really quite relaxing, so very few hours. I always work 6 am-9 am, I am an early bird type person. The shifts that need filled are 3 pm-12 midnight. So my schedule looked like this both last week and this week: M 6-9, Tue. 6-9, and 3- amidnight, Wed., Thurs., Friday 6-9 am. I try to sleep extra on Monday in advance, and Tuesday, and Wednesday. so then my brain goes "blank"

They say it is not safe but I have the same password for several of my activities here. And where I have created new passwords I invariably forget them but the site as you know helps us out and when that happens I put them in my word document. Since I am the only one that has access to my pc I am comfortable with this method.
As there is a facility to store, I no longer try to remember phone numbers. All said and done numbers don't bother me. And since I do not wish anyone for their birthdays that again relieves me from remembering the dates. I much prefer keeping in touch rather than remember them just on their birthdays and that too I have reduced as when there is no reciprocation it in a way puts me off.

I need to focus on what I am doing in order to get it straight. I do have several passwords that belong to me. I have written some of them down. The computers at work are on a secure server and I cannot access my outside e mail and I can be terminated if I try. This has been an interesting week or two.

I have several email addresses for different purposes and a lot of usernames and passwords for several sites including those work-related. i used to just try to stick them all to my head but sometimes there are just bad days that you hardly remember them. so now, i have learned to jot it down on my notebook so i won't forget about them anymore.

Yes when I was working full time in the mental health field. I would sometimes pull 18 hours days, especially if we had an audit coming up. I kept track of all of the medical records, medicaid billing and of course payroll and did all of the scheduling for the clients that lived in private homes. My numbers, days & time always ran together.

That kind of a job is very taxing to me. I would rather work directly with the clients. But missing sleep does that to almost everyone.

Alot of the time working directly with the clients was much easier but I was always on call. I would work with clients and still have to juggle the office drama as well. I got paid handsomely for it but it was stressing. Lack of sleep is a killer!

I think the world has gotten to this already. That to survive, you've got to be on top of a lot of codes and passwords. So much so, that I've started putting a 'cheat sheet' on my phone already. I keep getting kicked out on bank websites were I don't remember my log in and password.
Worst is a Thursday for me to get that messed up. It's the day when the week is almost done, yet not there yet.

Hi there. That is just a normal scenario especially for someone who had to take extra shifts, and get tired after a day's work. There were times I've been in such situations and yes, there were times when I actually mix up some numbers, or in my case, some standard information that we use when at work. Even after a tiring day of work, I get to be with some friends, and when I'm with them, I even scramble their names, calling someone with the other person's name. It does feel like your head had too much information to process already, that you are just too tired to process more information in your head. Anyway, if this happens to you, just breathe and take some time to relax. Take a nap during breaks or get some fresh air when you're not working. Getting enough sleep definitely helps.

You seem to come to the point where you have to take a day off and sleep a sound sleep. You frequently take extra shift and stretch yourself too much.Whether you mistook your phone number for the number to clock in or try your passwords on the work computer,it was a signal which showed that you have gone stale.Hope that take a good care of yourself.

hi dear GG that sounds familiar, not because of tiredness but the number of passwords we got to remember plus these PIN numbers is outrageous.
That in itself is not the worst but we got to change our pass words at work every 75 days -- horror!!! -
I also sometimes try to use keyboard combinations at work which only work at home vice versa.....LOL
