Do you read more then one book at a time?

I usually have two going all the time. I keep on in the car that I read during breaks at work....and one by my nightstand as I read every night before I go to sleep. When I get close to finishing one then I just go ahead and finish...start another one in the morning or whenever. So do you just concentrate on one book at a time or do you read more then one? My daughter usually has three going!

I prefer to read only one book at a time, and if it was my choice, that is what I would do. But when I start classes again, of course I have to read my textbooks along with whatever book I am reading. Or sometimes I am reading a book and my son gets an awesome book out of the library, then I read both..:)

I am a big vampire junkie, I read two or three at one time. I have been trying to write lately too, but I have also discovered it is not as easy as I thought, but I love reading. I sell the stuff I read on ebay and get more stuff. I have a blast

I have never been a reader. After all, I might learn something! At a much younger age, I had vision problems and it was suggested that I don't read to avoid straining my eyes. I start a book, get distracted and then just don't pick it up again. Someone gave me an Elvis biography, knowing how much I adore that man, and I ended up reading one chapter and never picked it up again. Maybe a good romance novel would spark my interest.

I sometimes do read more than one book at a time. It was more common when I was a kid. Back then I actually would read three or four at once at times... and finish them all. Now, not so much.

I think when we are grown up we might not always have enough time to read two at once....

I always read more than one book at a time. I often read 4 or 5 books at the same time and it is habit that I have had since I was a child. I have been reading multiple books for about 25 years and I don't find it confusing at all. When I was a child my parents told me that it was a bad idea to read more than one book at a time and they tried to convince to finish one book before I started reading the next one, but I never listened In my home there are books everywhere - in the living room, in the bedroom, in the car etc so I always have something to read.

Goodness gracious...she certainly is a multi-tasker isn't she..lol. I don't usually have more than one book going at a time. I might be reading a text for school at the same time I am reading something for entertainment but that is about as far as I go.

I used to get teased growing up (good naturedly) because I would be reading around four books at one time. I don't seem to do that now that I'm older. But then again, I read less now.

Four! You are good! I do sometimes have a hard time remembering which is which! LOL....but if I don't have one by the bed and carry it around instead I sometimes leave it somewhere it shouldn't be!

i do often enough. right now i am in the middle of rereading a Danielle Steel book (Message from Nam) and a book by Hugh McLennan (a great Canadian author) about the explosion in Halifax in 1917. both are fiction (which is rare for me) but both are history related which is the norm.

I also love history books or books that are based on history...my favorite was a book from a long time ago written right after the Titanic went down! My nephew has the book now...wish I could have gotten my hands on it! LOL

I'd probably get confused! I read one book at a time, and I usually get so into it that I can't put it down until it's done! I've finished large books in a single day.

Oh yes! I usually have two books going at one time. I have finished reading one today but am half way through a very good biography on the Kennedy's. I alwsys have a book in my bag or something that has been downloaded onto my kindle. My life woud be somuch poorer without a book to read. Blessings

I don't read books at all. I used to before moving to "the big city". Time has been "of the essence" ever since. Now that the children have grown and moved out I need to start again. When I sit down with a book I'd like to be able to read it cover to cover in 3 or 4 sittings, like I used to. I like the idea of getting into a story like I used to instead of short spurts in the "hey mom" chapter in my life (pun intended. Getting lost in a good book sounds wonderful. I told my husband when he retires that's exactly what we'd do. He has never read a book(?). He's missed out on so much. He would love Hemingway, among others. He's never read Time Machine, Captain Hook, or anything else I remember young men reading. The Hobbit Trilogy is another we could share.

That would be fun. When the kids were little I bought the classics for them to read here at home....still have them but they all want them when something happens to me! LOL

Hi jillhill I always prefer reading only one book at a time. I start with another when I completely finish reading the first book. Actually I can't pay my full attention when I go with two different boooks. While I m reading the book I become very curious to know the end part and get involve in the reading. But its good if you have a habbit of reading two all the time. Hope someday even I can start doing this as it may help us to keep our mind freash I beleive. Have a nice day !

Oh, yes. I do read two books at a time. Surprisingly, you are just like me. I read while waiting in my car either for my son or for my wife. At night I have another book by my bedside. Before I sleep I read sometimes.

I took a break from reading for a while, but I'm back to it now. Before the break, I would read one book at a time. I borrow books from the library; it was better to read one at a time & return it as the due date neared, so if anything, I'd only have 1 overdue book instead of 2. But now, I read two books at once. My library has online renewals available, so I don't have to worry about not having any books finished if the due date comes. I have various book genres on my list of books to read, but I like to split them in two categories: light & serious. I like to read different things based on my mood. There are some times when I want to read something light or laugh & other times I want to feel tense, or in suspense, so I have two books for those times. Also, I take the bus to & from school & I like to read during that time. I'd rather take the serious book & read the light one at home so I can laugh in comfort & privacy. I rarely read 3 books at once. I think that would be too much for me

I almost always have 2 or 3 books going at one time. I am always reading a book on my kindle and got to the library every few weeks and get books from there too. Reading is my escape from the stresses of life. I also just enjoy being engrossed in some other world and letting my imagination run wild.
