so-first i gotta say,we're on the no call list, tho fat lot of good it does when they go in number sequence..anyway..
this alarm company had been calling, offering a "free trial"..it never turns out free, but to continue..
first they get the hubby.i guess he agreed to it as "free" (i did ask him)..
so she calls back to confirm.
me:"no,you're not installing it.we don't want it"
her:"well i spoke to your husband, and he agreed"
me:"he had no right,it's not his house but my mom's"
her:"we have an agreement"
me:"no,you don't.he can't speak for her.i do.that's illegal and you know it-you need the owner's consent"
her:well,i'll call back when i can speak to the man of the house"
if i could have reached through the phone,i would have beat her with it.
i told her if she calls back,no matter WHO she gets,i'm calling the state attorney general.
y'know,i can understand trying the hard sell, but a 'tude and BS? you're told no,it's NO.unreal.

I would have told her not to call back. You can also speak to their manager and have your name and number removed. Hard sell is such a nerve wracker. Ugh! And she'll call back when i can speak to the man of the house would really steam me. That used to be the way of it because the man was usually the bread winner. Not so anymore. And I would have told her so.

hi scarlet woman wow that silly telemarketer did not have a leg to stand on as you mom had to give permission no matter what
hour hubby might have said. So for her to argue was really sexist'ajd stupid and uncalled for . if someone says no to'me I sure do not stand and tell them its yes.I am on the do not call list too yet I keep getting this one bozo who tried to see me a cleaning job on the air ducts of m y air conditioning system which
I do not have in the house I do not have nor live in and I cannot tell him cease as its a canned message. I live in a retirement center in a room shared with a roommate for Goodness sakes.
A pox on all telemarketers.

Sounds like it's time for you to acquire some whips, rope, & chains ... If you mentioned THAT to the telemarketer, & that it's intended for you to use on your husband, well, I would have LOVED to have seen the look on the telemarketer's face.

My husband used to agree to things. He would set up things, and I would cancel, I finally got tired of it, let them come. After a few times of having to put up with them when they tried to get money out of him, and them bugging the crap out of him, he finally wised up.

I would call back and tell the manager what happened. Then let the manager know that if their company contacts the house again that you will press charges. They can go back and listen to the call. This operator should at the very least be reprimanded.

Telemarketers are the worst of the worst! The rut of the litter... makes me wonder how they feel when they get called at home and they are in the other end of the line?

I can totally understand where you are coming from and I'm so impressed by your comebacks. I would have become tongue tied at that stupid woman's effrontery.
That sort of situation has now become reason 57 for me choosing to live by myself. I would be furious in such a scenario.
She has obviously not been trained at all because no way should telemarketers give attitude or sprout BS.

Oh, the ever loving telemarketer! Yes, I use to be one! lol You say "NO' 3 times and you let the caller go, plain and simple. So I throw that back in their face. When I worked as a telemarketer, I worked the day shift and we had a night shift. I was always having to call over a supervisor, because the night shift would set up for a call back during the day, even when the person was irate that they called in the first place. So my supervisor always would say to me when they had to come over, (jokingly), "JoDee, now what did you do?" Luckily, this company was a company that you had had another product of this company before. I've worked at some telemarketing places where you just picked names out of phone books.
