You seem to be up in arms against India and Indians of late vandana. Say something nice for a change Like his mansion! These cars are needed for the domestic staff. I am told there are 600 of them to care for his home More here about his mansion: http://www.businessinsider.com/antilia-mumbai-most-expensive-house-mukesh-ambani-2012-5?op=1

And they call it mansion love, oh I guess they'll never know..lol Yes..but tax authorities wouldnt dare to touch him, right? His father on the other hand was a great man even though corrupt to the core. He possibly realized that corruption was rampant in the country and an average man was not in a position to do anything about it. So he borrowed from people and made them rich the way politicians and industrialists become rich. Pity the son is cornering everything for himself and his family.. allknowing ..I am having difficulty in finding something nice to say..I was watching the Realty show about Surat the other day..again the guy was talking about flyover..in another 25 years we will have no petrol..we should be building metrolines..what is wrong with these people

I guess the wife only do it to sooth the feeling of envy, anger and whatever else from the country folks. Isn't it a common knowledge that the more you are known to be a billionaire the more you would show that you care for others? Remember the key word here is: a "show"...

Hi vandana7, it's an incredible dream for me if I were to own such a great number of cars. Frankly, it's so difficult for me to upgrade my old car that have been using for more than ten years even. Shows that how different the luxurious lifestyle of wealthy people He has to take five and a half month or so to ride every car if he really does so Anyway this has provided working opportunity for people to work as drivers, workers so as to take care of his large garage and the cars as well. Happy posting

No doubt there is loads of traffic and traffic jams on the roads in India... and also no doubt I cannot ever be anywhere near becoming one...(I dont have even a single toy car at home) btw, even if we had that "sic" emoticon, you would still be unable to use it on your discussion as you used the 3 (permitted)

You do..so Imelda Marcos was justified in that collection of shoes and clothing I suppose. :) Of course, she should not have, after all it was the nation's money. :) Here, it is only the shareholders who have been consistently starved, and even brother alienated for monies. :) To be passionate about something is good, but to retain so many is somewhat hovering around craziness. I would understand if he was a collector of vintage cars or something. May be he is planning to collect large enough fleet so that he can run it when reliance throws him out, or leaves it to his children to show off as vintage cars when petrol becomes scarce. lol. But the whole idea seemed hilarious to me. Not for traffic, but to maintain pay insurance, store those cars, etc..

hi thanks almost everyone here is telling that he should not have so many cars... but we fail to see that there are so many who have more than one conveyance at home...I see it like this - he has money and seems to be passionate about cars... so who am I to judge abut why he has so many cars... But if we all started having many vehicles, as a commuter, I definitely do feel the pains of the traffic jams... and I say only what I feel for me. Hope I make sense now

In this life, one person can have 168 cars while looking over from his tallest mansion the poverty all around him... I don't worry about him, because I would not want to be in his position when he is held accountable for all his actions in the hereafter. That's when everything will be just; no inequality, unfairness, greed, and all other injusticeness...

Lets just suppose you had all his wealth, would you spend it on that many cars? I wouldnt. :) I would think it was crazy, even if I had that kind of money. :) That is why I say he is crazy. :)

If I have that kind of wealth, I'll probably be even crazier... Since money is no object, I'd make sure I have different car every single day of the year... So I don't need 168 cars, I need at least 365 cars!

hi vandana nope I don't have one of those around., If we did I think we might talk him into selling most of those 168 cars and make tons of jobs for all the California out of work people, that much money could open up jobs for m any men and women who need them now,

You bet, but we try to get forex in while billionaires whose wives pose as philanthropists by the way, corner cars and build mansions that are just crazy things to build. He has 600 servants for his home including drivers so I guess he is employing..but I was wondering what he needs that many cars for unless he goes around soiling them..

Vanda, he must have the hobby to collect cars, that's why he don't mind to spend money into maintaining so many cars. In fact, it is not cheap to maintain a car nowadays. What more to say, maintaining so many cars. If only he donates more money into charities to helps those needy, it would really helps a lot to the society. Pity to see many people don't have a proper home to stay and food to eat.

myfb..to have hobby is fine, but as you pointed it out, maintaining that many cars is a tough task. That is why I wanted to know if there are billionaires out there who would do something like that. :) And I was just watching a television program yesterday where they showed an orphanage using the small girls with them as house helps. That was so repulsive because the girl was raped by another servant and the lady of the house didnt believe it, and didnt do anything about it. The matter was treated so casually that it was appalling especially because it was a true story. :(

Yes, for data collection purposes, it is ok and I am not at all proud to have that many cars with him. He is an industrialist with millions of dollar income earning person by providing a lots of job oportuniteis for millions of Indian people also. As he hold such a position and being the one and only person to hold a huge amount of money and property, the number 168 is nothing and you may be well aware of his property valuation and where it stands in the India records. If he can gift a plane to his wife on her birthday, lack of people are wandering to get a one time food, over the streets and that is also a point to be noted to be proud to be an Indian.

No..I am fine with his plane. That is because he might be short of time so there can be some meetings that can be held while traveling. I am fine with him traveling on plane so to say. However, 168 cars is what concerns me. They are not vintage cars, they are all high end variety cars that are difficult to maintain. Lack of as many cars would not lower him amongst his friend circle. So this passion ..since value of a car comes down with each passing year, is weird to say the least.

Really! Well, he can very well afford it, so why not? But he is very much the opposite of some of the most richest man. Some of them are so tightwads , that they almost don't wanna spens their money anymore, but just keep on amassing them. I think if i am a billionaire, i would spend them by donating to charitable institutions and giving jobs and houses to the poor people . But for leisure, i would like to be always in tour around the world together with my family!

168 cars and there is 365 days in a year. So, if he uses each car, it would just be just 2x or 3x for each car!

There's a lot of car there. Hopefully he may share his wealth to the needy. Support non-government organizations that helps the sick and the underpriviledged. Hope he pays his taxes right and do something for the common good. Nice one. Thanks

NGO's out here have a kickback system.:) They get 24 percent of the money they raise. So I understand why people wouldnt want to donate to NGOs.

it is mere show off of his money and nothing else. what is the use of so many cars when you can drive at least thrice in a years. these are the type of man who will have many but not use and they will not give anything when it comes to giving. I hate such money minded people. anyway it is there life and let them do what they want to do with their money. but I must say it is total madness. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Riyauro, out here charity has become a business. Financing it would be like encouraging human trafficking. And it is a strange dilemma. If you dont donate, you always feel uncomfortable thinking perhaps some child genuinely needed help and did not receive any. While you and me have some time see sawing through this dilemma, the rich men dont. So the moment they hear of something like that, all charitable institutions go out of their books, lock, stock, and barrell. They after all have more serious issues to handle with greater financial implications. All I am saying is, it is not always miserliness or selfishness that prompts such behavior. I also feel they run businesses and ensure the successes of such businesses so obviously they are doing enough charity because they are employing so many people who are fed and so are their families. The pay scale also covers the education expenses of such employees' children, and costs of medical expenses of the parents or other family members, apart from ensuring decent retirement income. So the industrialists are doing good job. However, 168 cars is truly Total madness, as you put it..:)
