Minnie, one of my cats is an outdoor cat. She stays out all day and only comes in at night if she feels like it or it is raining. Yesterday she came home early and she was hobbling. I brought her in and fed her. This is usually her cue to go out again, but this time she settled on the sofa and fell asleep. She didn't let me inspect her foot well but I could see there was no bite, probably she sprained it. She was a different cat for 12 hours, by then she was walking well and no longer wanted me. She knew she needed a little tender loving care and just for a while she became a cat who was content to stay at home.

cats can do some really strange things, but she knows where home is and that is the important thing.

It is nice to see that you understand your cat and care for her too! I guess we all need a bit of TLC! Congratulations!

Oh, poor cat! We have three cats. One younger male that stays in most of the time, a female older cat that used to stay in all the time even hiding under the counch or bed when she first came here but now likes it outdoors, and our old male tom that is acient but still alive. He has had fights with the local racoons and other toms. Poor thing. He looks awful with all his scars and punches out of his ears. He looks like he's been through a ringer. I am waiting for the time that he doesn't come back anymore if you know what I mean.

I can't say the same about my daughter's cat. He always come home before dark and sleep behind the couch (his favorite spot). He hates to sleep outside and seems to always need the cozy air of our home.

Yes they do. My cat, Lucky, certainly knew when he needed help. Lucky Star was a poor stray, feral, cat when my mother and I adopted him. He wasn't much to look at when we first brought him home. My mother and I had to clean him up, feed him, and take him to the vet to be vaccinated. Once we did all of this, he looked like a brand new cat. He looked healthy, happy, and he knew he was being taken care of. He is part of our family, and we have had him for about three years now. He is so cute. His all white dingy fur turned into this really pretty peachy orange and white fur, he looks like a peachy orange and white tuxedo cat, and he has the prettiest blue eyes that I have ever seen in a cat. He really is Lucky.

I had a stray I was feeding. At first he sat off a couple/three yards/meters while I put some food down, and only came around like once a week or less. Then he started coming more often and sitting closer. Once I finally got my hands on him, he remembered he liked being scratched and was coming daily. Then, he showed up with a bad injury and a friend said she'd pay if I'd take him. So, I caught him, and took him to the vet. The vet said "Well, he has FIV and he's a stray so we'll put him to sleep." I said: "He may be a stray but he's MY stray and you will NOT put him to sleep!" His picture is in my photos, his name was Hobo.

i've had cats all my days and yes, they definately know when they need our assistance. all my cats over the years have had different personalities and have owned me rather than vice versa. i think the saddest thing about cats is when they know they are going to die and they take themselves away to a quiet corner to pass away. two of my cats have done that, one after it got poisened and i found it under a bush in the garden. i find cats behave like no other animal, they are so unique.

It's good it wasnt anything serious. I could never let my cats out all day, just knowing there are idiots out there that would hurt them. I do bring them outside in their playpen in the backyard.
