Goodbye Tranquility Place

Multiply is where I started on the internet in social networking. From there, a friend referred me to Yuwie, and a Yuwie friend referred me here, and so on and so on. I keep all my photos and family blogs there. The person who told me about Multiply used to call it her "tranquility place". Got an e-mail a few days ago. Multiply is moving their headquarters to Jakarta, and ending their social networking business. Don't know what other businesses they have, but there goes my favorite place, even if pretty much everybody else has already deserted it for Facebook, etc. They are going to provide tools to export to blogger and your PC. Bla. Guess I'd better get cracking. My photos are on my PC, but by family blogs are not. I want to keep them for the kids. RIP Multiply. Apparently word got out long before I got the e-mail judging by this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFgD5Y6_7oc

That is sad.I hate it when you join something and then it comes to an end.I have also noticed a few other sites that were about and now either they are no longer here, or they are having a few problems like matesgates. All good things must come to an end, but I hate it when they do.Hope you are well.

Yeah, I heard people were having trouble with Matesgate. I can't get in myself, haven't been there in months, and now it doesn't like my password.

I never got into that one. I would have to check back through my info, but I don't think that I ever even joined the site. Unless a social networking site pays me to use it or offers fun games and an active stream of conversation (Facebook), it is unlikely that I will really get into using it on a regular basis. Even some of the paid ones have lost my attention, because they became to spammy and/or unwieldy to use. Sites come and go. I remember several non-social networking sites that used to be great fun back in the day. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, they have long since folded.

I liked this one, but really I haven't interacted with people on it for ages. Just posted my stuff, and people either come look or they don't.

I know things like that make you feel sad. I hate for favorites to disappear. We are glad you found us here though. It certainly lasted longer than Yuwie.

Not a paying site, so there wasn't the rampant greed and spam that Yuwie had.

Does anyone go to Yuwie anymore? Years ago it was all over mylot, people talking about it, trying to get others to join. Now, no one mentions it. As for Multiply, I don't believe I've heard of it. But I always hate to see a place others enjoy be ended.

Yuwie closed a year ago. The idiot owner took it down a few days earlier than promised, and some people didn't get a chance to get their content off.

Couldn't get through to you link but I get the idea. Wouldn't you keep a hard copy of all your blogs for the cildren? I have a cd in which they are on but also have printed copies - just in case. I am sorry that the site is closing though. Maybe I will have to join facebook sometime in the future but have a horror of people just reading and passing on. This is what my sister does. She views all the family but never posts or comments so they have forgotten that she can ead what they are up to. Almost voyeuristic - if there is such a word

I never got around to copying and/or printing them, but now I'm going to have to. I don't like Facebook but that is where most of the family has chosen to "be".

Well, I've never heard of the "Multiply", nor one of my friends who are looking to do business online, to me,  have never spoken. However, the few seconds that I have seen the youtube video that you posted, it seems that this site is RIP You must at this point into the mindset that your site has permanently closed, which is why, you should guide you on one other thing. Of course if "Myltiply" defined it "tranquility place", the same thing no one can say about Facebook!

Eversince Facebook became the top social networking site many of the same have rush to the exit doors with short notifications to their loyal members.

This is the first time I ever head of Multiply.com. I will atink to Mylot and Facebook. I am satisfied with these sites. I d really don't have time to go on other social sites as it is. I am busy as it is on my Facebook games, keeping up with my Facebook friends and spending time here. That is enough!

I'm not all that fond of Facebook. I'm there because my family is there, and I don't play the games at all. Afraid I'd never get anything done. lol

I was in the odd place of coming late to Multiply and a bit early (and so, delaying) joining Facebook. I also put a few pictures in my Multiply account anticipating it to be the site for my family to share and view as they were half way around the world. I've never been back, so it makes it easier to hear that they are closing down. And yes, what other business?

I always thought keeping our stuff online would be safe if our computers conked out. It is time we all opted for pen drives with a huge storage so that we are independent of both the pc and the online storage. What say?

I personally haven't heard of Multiply until now so I never used it. I know what its like to lose a great website you love though. I had one site - and I guess it is "back" but will never be the same, I used to go there as a teen and young adult and I loved it there. I made so many friends and it was like our personal hide out. We also were really well known on the site which felt good. We felt like we owned the place. At least I've kept those friends I have met there. I feel for you I hope you're able to keep all those photos and blogs in time for your children and yourself.

The photos are already on my PC, so they're safe. I have backups too. But I do have to go out there and save my blogs.

Lots of copy pasting, do not let the carpel tunnel set in while you do it though! Best of luck in getting it done quickly.

Wow, that is sad. Even though I admit that I never really make use of Multiply for social networking, I met some really cool and nice online sellers there. I wonder what will happen to their store, I mean they also connect to their clients through their personal Multiply accounts and such.

I felt sad to when i learned about the closing of multiply.com. Even if i don't visit it often I'm keeping some of our old photos there. Well i guess i have to move it all again in our hard disk. Good riddance multiply.

Oh, that's bad to hear. When Friendster gave us the chamce to export our photos, etc. to Multiple I was able to do it but after a few months I checked my account in Multiply, I couldn't see those pictures anymore. Is there any possibility that I could retrieve those now? Oh, yeah. You've got to get those blogs. They are special memories for you. Goodluck. I hope you can export everything soon. Happy mylotting.

If you can find them on Multiply, you still have until December to go get them. `
