A talk about Laos and Cambodia

One of my friends suggested something and I thinking about his suggestion at the moment. He asked me if my husband and I would be interested in giving a talk about our trip to Asia. Relatively few people from Denmark have visited Laos and Cambodia and he thought that people might be interested in hearing about our experience when we return. I don't know if we can find a place that is interested, but I have a few options that I could check if we decide to try it. I know they arrange other evenings about travelling, so it is possible that they would be interested. My husband and I discussed it and the idea of giving a talk makes me nervous, but at the same time I think that it could be an interesting challenge. If you had to give a talk about a place that you had visited which place would you choose? And which things would you talk about?

I think that is a great idea. I would like to do a talk about backpacking around the world on a low budget. My talk would be aimed for students with wander lust but a limited budget. I would discuss how to get working holiday visas for Australia and New Zealand. I would report to them my own experiences of my working holiday in Australia and my low budget trip around the world. In addition I would talk about airline routes, flight prices and different stopover choices. I would show photos of places around the world that I have been to as a backpacker or independent traveler.

That sounds like a very interesting talk. I think that a lot of people dream about a trip around the the world on a low budget, and you could share your experience, give them advice and ideas and answer their questions. In July I visited a travel agency that had arranged an evening about Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The women who had arranged the evening had visited those countries several times and I found it interesting to hear about their experiences and I also enjoyed seeing their photos. It was a very interesting evening.

Thanks for saying you like my idea for an evening of information. Many people do dream to travel around the world yet they think it is too hard to afford. I could show them differently. I am glad that you found the evening about Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam interesting. I can't wait to hear all about how you get after your trip in November to those lovely countries and Thailand.

i think if i were to give a talk about a foreign country, i would focus on the people and places and my experiences with them. yes, i would try to make them personal so that everyone would be able to create their own stories from my presentations. i am not a fan of popular tourist spots. i would like to try the unfamiliar spots that are more reflective of the culture of the place than the popular ones which are reflective of modern cities.

It sounds like a good idea to focus on the people and your experiences. If people are looking for specific information about a certain country if it easy to find that information in a guidebook or on the internet, and I would also choose to focus on my personal experience and the people that I met during my trip. Sometimes I visit the popular tourist spots, but I often find the less popular places more interesting. I when I go to Asia I am going to visit some popular places as well some of the less popular places.
