Till now, i have never met a person who is satisfied with his life. Even if he has all the luxury, gadgets and people around him, still he seems to be craving for more. Why is man never satisfied with his life. Is it his greediness or is it human nature.Do share your views on this topic.

There is an approach called 'art of living' which clearly shows how one can be satisfied with whatever one has. In a nut shell if one realises that it is not how much one has but what one makes of what one has, satisfaction will be guaranteed. It does take time to get to realise this but if one makes a concerted effort reaching there is possible.

I have heard about art of living. infact i know many people who have attended the course. Most of them seems to have transformed for two days. but the third day, everything is back to how it was.

I was only talking about the approach and not about any course. The approach that making the best of what one has is bound to give man the satisfaction rather than relentlessly going after more and more possessions.

Hi Varun Krishna, This attitude is because, If a man(not all people) sees a rich man, he wants to live a life like the rich man. After getting that desired status, he sees some other person and he tries to live like him but he will never live happily with what he have. I wondered, what they are going to do with that huge money(especially politicians). There are many people struggling to live (because of no money), if they got that money it may be useful. Is there any use in stagnant money? 'or is it human nature' I don't think it as a human nature, Never categorize all people in one category. I've seen people, who live happily with what they have.

You are right. but people who are really happy are really few. Most run behind money and power. Satisfaction in life is what they never have.

Cause most of men who are satisfied with their life is not those who have all those luxuries, gadgets and people around him. Most of them are those who have their girlfriend or wife and sons or daughters who loved him the way he is and more likely those who committed their lives on the church. Those men who have a right faith, having good vision in life and those who are nothing without God. Those men and those people generally are those who are blessed enough to be satisfied in what they have and what they don't have.

I agree with your point. But lets consider people with families. Even they want their children to have good future, good jobs and good life. Only then, they would feel they are satisfied.

Satisfaction is not having all you want. Satisfaction is simply being contented with what you have and what you don't have but of course, it does not limit its definition by not asking for more. You'll ask for more. You'll wish to succeed with this and that you want this you want those but it doesn't mean that you are not satisfied. You are satisfied with what you have it's just that we are living in this material world. Simply, you may ask for more but then, contented and satisfied with what you already have. Based on stages given by Sigmund Freud i guess, that satisfaction you are pointing out is achieved on late adulthood range 70 above i guess. It's having an ego for what you have done for all those years. It's the sense of wholeness.

Some people unfortunately are very greedy. its hard to convince the. what they forget is money and power cant bring in peace of mind.

Satisfaction comes from contentment. Human beings tend to crave for more. But if we know what we can really achieve and what is not possible to achieve because of circumstances, then we could be satisfied.

I think contentment is something people achieve at a later stage in their life. At our young age, we are competitive and we fight to stay out in society. But as time passes by, we understand the futility of our rat race.

There must be some other things other than money that keeps one strive for what he doesn't have. Like If somebody does not have a good health he must not think about money but he must think about health. Likewise there may be some other examples associated with striving to get more out of life. It is human nature to strive for more but that doesn't mean that all of the people just need money. There are other needs and wishes also. There are many good things in it as well. Like being motivated add meaning to the life otherwise what is there in life itself. A lot many people are satisfied but they want to work hard to get more satisfaction as they know this is not the fullest of their capabilities that they are offering.

Every person has one or the other shortcoming. if we realise it and learn to live with that, its fine. but mostly, it never happens. Unknowingly we also join the bandwagon of competition. we bring in a lot of pressure on ourselves.

May be he is just greedy, he is not just a man but also is a devil advocate that has insatiable appetite for luxury, material things, women, gadgets and money. Even with so much in his hand, he is still craving for more and more; he believe strongly he can take all of them with him to his grave when he die, especially in a specially made coffin that can hold on to all his earthly wealth.

In my observation, I've never seen anyone who got what he/she wanted. A poor man wants money, and it evades him. A rich man wants a child, and it evades him. And so on. Always there is something that we want but it never gets to us. The moment we learn to stop wanting, we realize that we have everything. And there is one more view on this. If human beings stop wishing for something, there ends the drive and the very existence becomes meaningless.

The drive for innovation is our want. If we ever stop dreaming or desire abt something, then there will be no urge to work. people will just turn into saints and development would stall.

Because human being is a living creature, unlike a robot, he has passion and desire and he commits sins. Is it a naïve judgment?

It is not a naive judgement. Even though human desires causes problems. desire is the reason for progress of our species. its out of our desires that we have had so many inventions.

It happens, but I don't like people who never satisfied of what they have.

But in fact majority of people are that way. Even that includes me. Sometimes I realise that whole essence of wanting more is trivial. But the problem is then you lose the motivation to continue.

Man insatiable curiosity for everything leads mankind to progress. If ever our anscestors stay satisfied on their way of life, all the comfort, luxury and gadgets we have now could have never been invented and we are all still living in caves. Because of we are not satisfied to just to walk or run we invented the wheels, that leads to the inventions of automobiles and so on... Being not satisfied doesn't means greediness. You just want more or better. Cheers!

It is our Human Nature. We were given free will to decide or choose between bad or wrong. Most of the time people live the way they want to live without acknowledging God and His plans for us. So in the end people might put the blame on God, or they will only remember God when they are already full of troubles. We should realize that everything here on earth is temporary only. And much better to spend more time in fulfilling the purpose of God to us here on earth while we still have time. While we still have a chance as there are no second chances.

I believe the animal spirit in man to be the primary reason for this. Right from the ages man has never been satisfied with whatever he has. Be it material pleasure on or of the world. The classic example of Adam and Eve exemplifies this behavior and that was the primary reason why they were expelled from the Eden garden. The garden of pleasurable pursuits just because he could not satisfy his unending pursuit for satisfaction
