It's a cat's life

If I had to be something other than a human being I would choose to be my cat Lucy. Her day starts with an immediate meal, even before I have my first cup of coffee in the morning. After that she goes for a stroll and plays with little creatures like crickets and butterflies which provide her with entertainment but not food because she never catches anything. Then it is time for her to come in for a rest. She perches on a stool obligingly while I comb her through, she's long haired and brings half the garden into the house if I don 't remove it first. She loves this grooming time. She sleeps until she hears me in the kitchen and usually gets a token of my love in the form of a piece of meat or fish. When I retire for an afternoon nap she joins me and stretches out full length by my side. She purrs a lot at this point. When we wake up she is ready for her evening meal. She tends to stay out quite a long time after that, enjoying the warm summer nights. She doesn't go far and when I am ready for bed she comes to my call and settles down on the sofa. The only bad thing that happens to her is when I take her down to the basement to spend the night. If she stays upstairs with us she wakes us up too early. Does your cat have an enviable life?

Madam: You have explained very nicely about your Lucy. If you choose to be a cat you must be lucky enough to get a master like Combedaleroad. Not all the cats get the affection your cat gets. why cats-- not all the children get even 20% of affection your Lucy gets. that again depends on fate and luck. When you take form as cat also ensure you get the lucky in abundant measure as that Lucy.

very good point ravisvan! It's true not all animals have it so good, not to mention children. Some of us do have the luxury of indulging our pets while in the same world some of us aren't even paying attention to their own children. I am one of those who is truly fortunate enough to be able to appreciate and care for my pets. I never had children but I can't imagine not giving them all the love they needed to feel safe in this world - that would have been my responsibility.

Christine: Yes. I was reminded of a tv program in which the person - who is now 40 years old - crippled with polio -- said he was forced to work by his parents from his 8th year. This happens on account of poverty. Now that man is not able to work on account of polio attacked leg. When his health was good he had money he married another lady and they have three sons now. Problem is among the two wives and this man-- the wives ill treat him now by beating him because he has no earnings now.

We moved on very nicely here from spoiled cats to abused children. It is good to put things into perspective and I admit that my cat has a better life than many children and also many adults.

Oh, yes. We have three cats. One black siamese tom cat. He is out for days and then comes home for a long, long, long, nap. Up for a meal and then more napping. Our middle cat, Crystal is a female who is a rescue kitty. She was quite over weight and scared when she came to us. Spent most of her time under the couch until we slowly coaxed her out. She has been outside alot and also naps. Then there is Colbert the Maine Co.on cat who is a juvenile. He and Crystal sleep intertwined on my daughter's bed most day. Napping, eating and intermingling is the life to have for sure.

Oh, they are spoiled and loved. I think they dislike the amount at some points. lol I am always saddened to see just one animal. They need someone to hang out with too. Of their own kind.

Your cats are as spoiled as mine. I like to see several cats together, they are much more interesting than just having one. It is interesting to see how they groom each other as a kind of greeting. If they are well received they settle down together for the night. If one is sparky the other takes notice and sleeps elsewhere. It is a more natural life for them to have another cat for company.

i was going to say i wanted to come back as your cat until the part about the basement but maybe your basement isnt to scarey? id want to be my dog coco. she also starts the day off with food, her favorite doggie food and fresh water. then she has a doggie door she can go out any time. except at night she stays in my room with me and the door is closed. anyway, she gets a walk around the neighborhood also with the kids taking her. id rather be coco.

You r cat sounds like she has an luxurious life. I currently have 3 cats; and they are all spoiled rotten. They all get their wet food in the morning, and sometimes a special treat. They nap on my bed for most of the day while Im at work. They all have piles of toys to play with, they run around chasing each other. They also have their outside playpen to go outside and watch the butterflies. They get the run of the house after, and munch on their food all day.

It made me miss my cat... His name was empoy. he was a siamese cat, a gift from my father when i was still in high school. we treat him like our little brother. he also sleeps beside me. there are times when he acted like my alarm clock. he is the one waking me up by purring and snuggling his body on my face. there was a time when he got lost. i really felt so sad and worried. i even reported it to our baranggay police, for them to help me search for my cat. but after a few days, he was just found in our neighborhood's house. he found a new girlfriend.

They do have the life! As someone once said, dogs have owners, cats have slaves. My cat's got it made, she gets all she wants to eat apparently because she never finishes what I give her and she's right now snoozing on my freshly made bed. She'll stay there all afternoon and wake and stretch when my husband comes home. She'll go to the kitchen and pester us for more food that she won't finish??? She then goes to tease the dogs while they eat. When the big dog's all done and laying down on the floor she'll wrestle his head and keep him awake for her own entertainment. Yes, I do think they got it made, I gotta say though I'm not so sure about the personal cleaning they do, poor thing's got to lick that fur - all over - yuck!!

Fellow cat lover Christine I can see that your cat also has an enviable life. My Lucy even gets her fur combed - she purrs when I do it. She is longhaired and gets a lot of burrs. Unlike you however I rather like the smell of a nicely licked cat, it's kind of musty. Of course if they have just eaten fish it is another matter...

Yes my cat has a playmate because I have too cats, if Rugby thinks I slept too long he comes and wakes me up. He wants me to pet him. He won't take no for an answer. The love to groom each other and to get out on the back balcony, but I must leave the screen door open or they get scared. Their bowl is always full so they eat whenever they want.

This discussion just makes me want a kitty real bad, haha. Lucy has such a good life with you and I wish all cats had this type of life. As was mentioned in another response, it all depends on the owner as far as being something other than a human and coming back as a cat. Your kitty sounds like she's very happy and for sure well loved...nice to hear.

Oh yes, the life of a cat is something to be envied, especially if they are as well looked after as your Lucy. I too would choose to be a pampered pet.

compare to people, cat will enjory life more,we always have too many things to chase,we believe that we can't be replaced, we lose ourselives. we should stop,we should think about life,wo should learn from the cat how to enjory life.
