Dog Sitting 4 Big Boys!

So lately I have been worried about being able to afford my last semester of college, but I think my worries have been taken away! I will be dog sitting for 2 weeks for a woman my father works with, and I'm getting enough money that I think I'll be able to finish college after all! I have dog sat for her before, and the dogs are awesome! She has two large great danes, a choclate lab, and a chesepeake retreiver. They are really sweet boys and those two weeks will be fun! The only problem is the drive to my classes everyday is going to be torture! But at least it's only for 2 weeks, and it's worth it! Plus, the area she lives in is really beautiful, and it'll be a great jogging area. I might even get some good photographs!

Good for you Lily! Wow, enough to pay off your last semester, that's completely awesome! Yes, it certainly is worth all the trouble and its just for 2 weeks. That's not bad at all for all that. Then things will go back to normal and you can relax a bit. I love Danes and they are so gentle. Will you be able to walk the dogs all at once? I would love to see that in a picture, lol! Good they have a big backyard to run around in, especially for the lab and retriever. I'm sure you'll have fun one way or the other. Will you be staying overnight there too?

Oh yeah, I'm staying there 24/7 except when I'm in my classes. They are very sweet, nice dogs. The danes are so funny, they like to lean against you whenever they can. They almost knocked me over a couple times 2 of the dogs are a bit older, so they can't go jogging with me. The other doesn't like to wear leashes so I can't take him. So I was told to take the young Dane on my runs. Otherwise, no way could I walk all 4 of them together! Haha. They also have a pool that the retriever likes to swim in. Hopefully I get a couple pictures of that. I am already looking forward to the relaxing at my house when I'm done! Haha

Yeah it's starting to cool off so the water in our pools dont warm up anymore. The dog can have the pool all to himself! haha Oh I don't know how professional dog walkers do it either! Those dogs must be really well behaved! If someone tried that with our dogs they would get draaagged! lol

LilyoftheThorns Congrats on finding this temporary job I think it's more fun and easier to sit dogs than kids Dogs are usually such awesome creatures. 'There seem to be a lot of positives with this..except for the drive of course. Good luck..you can do anythng for just 2 weeks and the reward is worth it

Thank you! I hope this kind of becomes a "permenant" job in the sense that whenever they need a sitter they'll ask me. I much prefer to watch animals too! I'm not always sure what to do with kids! Haha. I am much better with animals. I actually had to look it up once because I didn't really know what a good rate for dog sitting was either. I believe for dog sitting it said charge $15-$20 per day, and then add $5 per day for each individual dog.

Mean to have added that mys siser has the perfect dog sitter when she is away from home. The young lady is a policewoman and she brings her own dog too and looks after the other two dogs until my sister returns. She loves the job as my sister pays her well!

I love how when your so worried about something it seems to take care of its self. I have had that happen to me several times in my life and I look at it as a blessing and a gift that takes away my stress. I love when things just seem to fall into place.

Wow! Lucky you! I never thought that the fee for dog sitting is really high. Dog sitting is kinda my dream job, I'm not joking. I love dogs and love to be around animals so it will be a pretty easy thing for me to do. I would love to dog sit than baby sit.

Yes I love taking care of animals too. I had to look up how much the fees are the people usually charge (because I have no idea) and it said ask for $15-$20 per day and add on $5 per pay for every extra dog they have. You should look into a website call Care.com. You can look for pet sitting jobs on there.

Hi Lily, congratulations on your job! And they are big boys. I'm sure you can handle it. It's wonderful that you'll be able to finish college. That's so important. And spending 2 weeks with those 4 guys should be a lot of fun for you. Getting paid for having fun. How nice! I trust Tinkerbell is doing fine and I'm sure you have good stories about her. I wish you much luck in your final semester. It's good to see you again!

Yes it will be fun! Last time I watched them they were so goofy! They love to rough house with each other, and I got some really good pictures of them. Tinkerbell is doing very well! She's gonna miss me for these 2 weeks, but since my classes on Tuesday and Thursday are only about 5 minutes from my house I'm going to stop by on those days to see her. Thanks!

Oh that is totally awesome. I am expecting some good pay for dog sitting last week, not as good as yours I'm sure, since I only sat for a week for a dog and cat and then one day for a dog....

It is great that you are dog sitting, especially if you're able to complete your college degree thanks to the money that you're getting from it. Although it might seem quite hard to travel to your classes from where you are living, it is more than worth it because it is only in the short term and you will be finished before you know it. It also gives you the chance to be able to get a little extra exercise from walking the dogs, as you would have to walk for at least an hour a day to be able to keep them fit and healthy.

Well they don't actually have to be taken out on walks, they have a big backyard they can run and play in. And only one of the dogs is capable of going on my jobs with me. I think I need to leave an hour before my classes start due to traffic, hopefully that will be enough, I really hate to be late. Which unfortunately means waking up a lot earlier! Ick! Haha

That is awesome that you will now have the money to finish off school. Like you said, I wouldn't worry too much about the drive, as it will only be for 2 weeks. Have fun dog sitting.

Hi...Nice to hear that story that makes me remembered 5 years ago when i was in Riyadh,a friend who is going for vacation for 6 weeks left her dog to me...he's so lovely and very sweet,he gave me company the whole day and even when i went outside of the building he was there guarding me all the time, he's very talented and well trained dog, thats why after 6 weeks i was so saddened when he went home. Anywat im thankful for having the moments with him...Dog sitting is really fun and awesome.
