I have a friend that was introduced to an online shopping site by a friend. She browsed the site to see what this online shopping site offers to its costumers. Busy surfing and browsing the site her lunch break when she finally saw a dress that she really like and will fits on her.She even like a pair of shoes that will compliment the dress. She send a message regarding this and asking if it is safe to shop online. It will be her first time if ever.I call her and told her that I don't know too cause I haven't tried it too. Is it safe to shop online? She was scared to buy that clothes due to some circumstances like what if the product is not same in the net, what if the size is not exact or what if the package will not arrive after she send her payment. She have lots of inquiries and question about it.

hi there ardoy0731. i actually shopped online myself. i have discussions here in mylot on my experiences. here are the links, http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2657147.aspx and http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2672673.aspx. the concern of your friend about online shopping is valid as there have been online shopping sites that have closed down leaving shoppers with vouchers that cannot be used anymore. just a couple of reminders: *always make sure to shop at reputable online shopping sites, you can do this by checking reviews and ratings given by other users. *make sure to read the fine print and the details/conditions of the sale. these conditions can be definite deal-breakers based from my experience. *although, it is very convenient to use credit cards to pay for purchases made from these online shopping sites, i've always made it a point to use other payment options if these are available. you can make payments through bank transfer or through local convenience stores or courier shops. hope these tips help. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I rarely shop online, but the few times I have, has worked out well. As long as the site is reliable, I use a temporary internet card number - I find it safer, and they have the option of returning things if there is a problem with it. It is the same as buying things from a catalog, the outfit may fit and look perfect, but since it is impossible to try it out beforehand it is always a risk. But if she really likes the outfit, and if she is still worried, she could try ordering something small, cheaper that could work as a test run, see how it works, how long it takes, and then if she is satisfied order the dress. Good luck though.

I found that many a time, items in internet are cheaper than when you get them on shops. This is not once or twice, but many a time i have noticed it. I usually get books through online stores and when I physically check at book stores, there is a big margin difference. because of this I prefer buying it online. Why to be on losing end when you can save some money.

I think it is not a good option to choose online shopping for the dress she needs because as we select a dress we must make sure that whether it is fit or not. Online buying for clothes doesn't give the option for the fitness.

There are certain things that I would not buy online, but that doesn't have to mean that I am scared of it exactly. When I am buying clothes, I will only ever use the websites that allow for you to see how the clothes look like on models. If you can't see this, then it is easy to think that it will look a certain way and then find that this is not the case when it is delivered. I wouldn't order anything off auction websites like clothes because you couldn't then return them if you didn't like them. At least if you order them from a store you can send them back if you find that you don't like them when they get to you.

I guess if you are buying something, you can always go for buying most of the things. These days there are many option available online. We do need to find out which is the legit one and thats not too tough either. If your friends have purchased from somewhere, just get to know from them. there are many international brands too that sell directly from their websites. i think you can trust those sites.

She is worrying about what if the clothes that she will purchase is different when it is delivered yet the site dont want to exchange it. Those are some factors that she is worrying about.

I've done shopping online, local and international. I may suggest Metrodeal and pisobid online stores a reliable one. I am not promoting these sites but I am a satisfied customer so I am sharing it with you and your friend. My friend who is also a mylotter use to shop with "Ensogo" but lately she's facing problem as well as other shoppers. I've purchased an item from international online store and it reaches me safe. It's a limited item from My Chemical Romance band produced by Warner Bros and Company.

I would appreciate you for sharing some reliable sites here. I have never purchased form these sites. My most online purchases have been book and gadgets, Textile and footwear, i prefer to go physically to shops. But novice should be very careful about online purchases. You shouldnt just go to some dump site and purchase anything and be on the losing side.

Whatever it is that is online isn't always safe. BUT if you want to take risks, then it's good. You wouldn't know if it's safe or not unless you try. I have done online shopping alot of times. It's locally done though. I shop online because I also use the items for me to sell. So, the first time, I bought small amount. In case that the seller was a scammer, I only risked small amount of money. I have read lots of comments that they are always being scammed. The seller will ask you to deposit the money then they will deliver your goods. Others just ran with the money, others mark their words. So better shop with those trusted sites and sellers.

No problem. But be also aware that SOME, after letting you know that they are trustworthy, betrays you in the end when biiger purchases are transacted. So, always be prepared on taking risks and it's outcome.

Oh beginning to small amount of purchase could somehow help to test the credibility and legitimacu of the site. Wether the product tht she will order is te same when it delivers. Taking risk is always there for her to test the site. Thanks for some pointers that I could rely on her when we have a talk.

I have shopped online a lot of times already and fortunately I wasn't been scammed yet.:D All the shops that I shop for are legit and none of them are fooling people of what they sell. I always browse their comments and feedbacks and some proof of shipping. I also call the number that's indicated in the site. I also searched on the net if the shop has a history of scamming someone. But I had experience once when I bought something over the net and it wasn't really the same from the picture. The picture looks so nice but in person it wasn't. So I didn't buy any clothes from that store anymore. :) Just be careful. :)And you can always detect on the bank transfer.

I do shop online but only at widely known and respected businesses. Amazon is the one I shop at the most. You do have to be careful when shopping online. My daughter had been scammed through a website that was not well known. She thought she was getting something for free but in the small print she had signed up for some kind of subscription and they pulled out $100 from her account. She then phoned the business and they did refund her money. She was lucky but you never know what can happen. So beware when shopping online. You can probably find customer feedback from the website she is shopping on by entering the name of the company in a search engine.

My experience with online purchases have been fantastic. In case of international purchases, i always do it through paypal. Once I got a tablet form another country and when I opened the cover I was shocked. I found a chocolate piece instead of tablet. i didnt panic and I informed paypal. Within a month of their enquiry , I got my money back. SO I can say its not that unsafe to deal in internet these days.

I have never bought clothes online, but I have bought many other things like books, cds, maps, craft materials, watches etc. I have only experienced problems one time. There was something wrong with the site and I was sure that I hadn't been able to submit my order so I visited anoter site and bought the book there...then I received two copies of the same book in the mail, because the first site had received my order as well. I am not afraid of online shopping and I will continue to shop online, but I learned something from the experience. If I am the least bit in doubt I contact the site instead of just buying the same product on another site.

Oh I think purchasing online stuffs with measurements is quite risky the fact that the size my vary depends on the clothes that will buy. Better make sure of the measurements to avoid regret and waste of money in the end.

I have honestly been shopping online for many, many years and there has actually never been a time that I've had any kind of a problem with shopping online. The majority of the online shopping locations have a lot of guarantees, in most situations their shipping expenses are very reasonable and most shopping websites have very good return policies as well. The one place that I would be very careful when shopping online is when shopping through auction sites or individual sellers.

You really need to know more of the online seller. There are few scammers online but I know there are more of the legitimate sellers and most of them are moms. Your friend should look at the proof of shipping or customers feedback of the online seller. Also, there is really a slight difference between the photo of the product and the actual appearance of it. This is because sometimes, the camera is not so good or the lights etc. By the way, I am an online seller and a buyer so I have learn a lot from this experience.

I'm skeptical about online shopping. I have a friend who bought anime from an online shopping site. When the box came, he found out that the CD scratched. He asked the site to change it or return his money, but the site said its not their responsibilities, it should be the responsibility of the company that handle the transportation of the anime internationally. in my opinion, you should be very careful on shopping online. Buy only from trusted site.

Yeah we really have to be careful enough so we wont have any regret in the end and at the same time our money wont get wasted. It is hard to gamble our money that might lose in the end. We really have to consider the feedbacks of the sites from their customers that could add credentials to its legitimacy. Online shopping sites is really accessible with the help of our advance technology but we should be careful all the time.

Well i too agree to your point. i have never shopped online in my life. I have that fear that they might turn out to be fake or they might take away the money from u by luring u their products. i have also heard people saying that the products that are being delivered are not the best quality products. So there are a lot of things that needs to be taken care of while shopping online. What say?

I think its high time you should ward off your fears. the world has moved on and now a days things happen mostly on internet. I guess the day is not far when the retail shops would very much disappear. E-commerce has become much bigger and better and you have to trust the system. Millions are using it and I am one among the. They are very secure, but see that you do purchase from reliable sites. People sometimes go for penny discount and then fall in trouble.

That's just the risk that she's got to take should she decide to purchase the item. As far as legitimacy of the seller is concerned, she can always look for feedbacks left by past customers. If the seller doesn't even have one feedback, or the account is just newly created, that's a red flag. I am not saying that all new sellers are scammers, but it's just something that should be taken and noted when buying online. Also, if you will ask me, I wouldn't buy clothes or shoes online. It might look so good online, but once you wear it, the fit might not be that good. Also, the color might be shades lighter or darker than actual so it's really a tough call. But there were some really reputable shops with online sites, like Doc Marten's. So far, this is the only shoe shop that I have bought from online that is really really legit.

I think she should check first the background of the company. She can also asks her office mates or friends if they already shopped on that online shopping stuff. I think some sites are reliable, some also are not. What can I suggest is she should try altleast one item to shop for her to know that site is reliable or not.

To the new online shopping customers, it is a little scary to them for their worries about the online shopping security. Actually, when I first started my online shopping, I was also worried about it, but it has proved to be secure because I have never been cheated from the shopping sites I choose. They are good and secure to me. Now I have registered to become an affiliate of a few shopping sites that are reliable. I wish your friend would enjoy her first online shopping. Good luck and take care.

If the website has a physical store as well (such as Walmart, JC Penney's and Macy's) she could always return the item to the store if she does not like it. I bought a dress once from Macy's website and it did not fit. I called the store and asked if I could return the item and they said yes. I have bought items online such as books, DVDs, craft items, and clothes. I buy from amazon and have never had any trouble. I also buy from Wal-mart, Target, and used to buy from ebay, but lately they have not had many items.
