No more electricity to pay

I paid the final bill for the electricity in the old house today. The bill was for $112.00 dollars. It felt so good. I am so happy I do not have to pay anymore electricity. Has there been a certain bill that you paid that you are rejoiced that it is over with?

Free electricity? Wow! You'll be able to plug in a space heater if the new apartment really is too cold in winter and not worry about the cost.

I would think I would rejoice if I didn't have to pay my mortgage its $800 a month and so it takes the most out of my budget. It is so difficult to find affordable housing these days for anyone. We really couldn't afford such a high mortgage but it is still cheaper than rent in our area so I think I just need to be thankful that we qualified for the mortgage cause it could be worse.

Isn't it just pathetic when renters pay more than homeowners, everything is backwards.

any bill that I pay off and am done with is always a good thing. I have 3 credit cards that I never use but am paying down now. I just can't wait to have them all paid off. My debt isn't huge according to the consolidators but to me with my income it really is. It's a monkey on my back but it is all from raising my kids so for that, I'm glad that I had it. I thought I'd be paid off long before now but well that didn't happen...getting there a little at a time. They are actually store cards because when I first consolidated the "real credit cards" they thought I should just go for "bankrupt". They let me keep the JCP, Target and Walmart card open thinking I would need it for my kids and i did. All the other got paid and the kids are grown so I'm now just paying these down....can't wait.

You are smart. Looking back, I did what I had to to get by but I would never recommend anyone open that many cards...that was my stupid mistake. I should have just kept one and since I've managed somehow by the grace of God to not destroy my credit then I will only have one when this is all done...I learned a lot. Gosh, I was so so naive to them. I never had a credit card until I left my husband and was raising the girls on my own. I was in my late 30's by then. Like I said...naive.

I certainly wish that was the case. I have several more payments on about three bills I have. Must eat out less and pay more on them. Ugh! I pay what is called 'level pay' on my electricity each month. It is much better than paying something different each time and never knowing what it would be for sure. This way it is the same each month.

The day I finish paying off my astronomical amount of student loan debt will be a day of great rejoicing. Granted, unless I win the lottery or suddenly land a position that pays a six-figure salary, that day is a long ways off.

I'm afraid that may be true for me as well, but I shudder to think that I shall spend all my days as a debt slave.

Did you mean you cut off the electricity in your old house? Does it mean no one will live there anymore?

My bill I was glad to see gone was the cell phone bill. We got rid of it as soon as the contract was up. We went to prepay and saves us $40 a month.

I think it is always good to have less electricity bills and we should try to save electricity. I also think when we find the bills are already paid most times we will be happy in our lives. I also hope to clear my bills very soon and hope to save some electricity.

Not yet! That day will come hopefully soon when we can lose the electric, gas, water, sewage and mortgage on the other house once it sells.

We moved out from our old apartment 5 weeks ahead of the lease termination date. We notified the agent 3 months ahead that we were going to do that hoping that they would find another tenant to take over the lease by the time we moved out. Unfortunately, they did not try hard enough; so we had to continue paying weekly rent of the empty apartment for the rest of the lease. It was such a huge relief when the 5 weeks were finally over. It felt good not to have extra burden on bills...

What a relief for you. Now you can (hopefully) begin seeing some of that savings you were talking about. That's a big step in cutting down your spending. I'm happy for you, winterose. Maybe you'll be able to get those curtains sooner than you thought!
