Having a cold due to poor weather

I have got a cold at the moment and it brought back memories of trips overseas when I have had a cold. When I was 18 years old I worked as a children's nanny in Finland. Then I traveled with an inter rail ticket around Europe. I caught a cold due to cool autumn weather. In Budapest in Hungary I went down with a cold. On my trip around the world going up the coastline of New South Wales in Australia I caught a cold. I knew the weather was getting too cold and I headed up towards sunny Queensland. I was aged 20 to 21 years old on that trip of a lifetime. Worst of all when I was aged 28 years old I caught a cold in Western Australia. It led to an ear infection which meant I couldn't fly on a plane. I phoned up the airline and explained that the doctor said not to fly with the ear infection. They explained that all planes to Asia and Europe were busy taking people back home after the Olympics in 2000 in Sydney. I had to book a flight in three weeks. I had to extend my trip and traveled up the coast to Coral Bay. Have you ever had a cold due to poor weather? Did this affect any of your travels? How would you feel if you couldn't fly back home and had to wait another three weeks?

Well i feel bad about your cold because of which your travel plans are getting affected. Well coming back to my point, i am having cold for most parts of the year. There is no such season in which i m not having cold. It always play spoilsport whenever i am on a trip as it makes me sick and low from within and the fun and enjoyment of a trip is drastically reduced. It is miserable if i had to return back from the trip due to my bad health, thankfully it has never happened with me and hope it never happens in the future. What say?

It was winter in Western Australia and it was warmer than our spring in 2000. I was very unlucky to get that ear infection after having a cold. It is a shame that it spoils your enjoyment of a trip if you get ill. I know one lady on My Lot got the flu on her trip around Europe. I returned from my trip around the world in 1994 on crutches. You see I had fell down a drain in Malaysia and hurt my leg.

I had to walk home the other night and it was pretty chilly. It had been raining and I waited till it was time to leave before calling any one and they were all busy. By the time I left work the rain had stopped and I figured I could get home and have no problems. About half way home it started to pour down again. Needless to say by the time I got home I was soaked to the bone. Then the next day I woke up my head was groggy and I had a cough and the sneezes. I wish I would have waited for some one any one to have time to come and get me then I would have not come down with this cold. I was chilled when I got home and no matter what I did I could not get warm. I should have known then it was coming as every time I get sick I get chilled and cant get warm. I have never been to sick while traveling to not be able to come home. I think that I would have flown home any way regardless of what the doctor said. When I am sick all I want to do is go home and cuddle up in my bed and be a baby and get pampered. I am a horrible sick person. The last thing I would want to do is wait 3 more weeks to go home.

You don't catch colds from weather, you catch them from viruses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_cold However, when I went to England in 2003 with the roomie, we both came home with bad colds.

I usually try to stay in a warm climate during the winter months. I haven't had a cold in a while but I'm sure I'll get one. I always try to get enough rest and eat right so I don't wear my body down and become a prime candidate for a cold. If I had to wait to fly it would be tough but I'd rather not get everybody else sick.

I have visited many different places, but fortunately I have only been ill once (when I travelled around in Europe for one month) When I was in Finland the weather was very cold. My feet were wet and very cold and I had to buy new (and dry) socks several times on the same afternoon, but I didn't get ill. If I was unable to fly back when I expected I would be worried about the practical things at first. I would have to call my boss and tell him that my return journey was delayed and I am sure that he would not be happy about that. I would also have to contact the the people who take care of our pets while we are away and ask them to keep the pets for 3 more weeks. When those things were okay I would try to look at the situation from a positive point of view and find a nice way to spend the extra weeks. It would give me the chance to visit some of the places that I didn't plan on visiting and I would be happy about that.

I guess colds is common if its poor weather condition specially here that is always raining so i always catch common colds and what i did if i already felt that my nose is itchy and i already have a runny nose i just took 2 tablet of vitamin c in the morning and 2 in the evening then the next day its gone. Its also true with my brother when they spent their vacation in my place he just took 2 tablet and he said its effective coz he didn't feel any itch in his nose that afternoon. Vitamin C is actually safe even if you take large dosage of it though as long as its not everyday as normally its water soluble unlike other vitamins that is fat soluble which is not advisable for large dosage.

Wow I had never even thought about how painful it would be to fly in an airplane with an ear infection. I wonder why they wont allow it though maybe it can cause their ears to start bleeding. I have never ridden in a plane so I dont know all the rules or any of them actually haha. I dont believe that you can get a cold just from the weather being cold. If that was the case then people would be sick all winter long. I think germs are what cause colds and germs are every where. Sometimes our resistance gets down maybe due to not eating properly and then we are more susceptible to those germs and get sick.
