My husband cooked some jalepenos and other hot peppers today. He says the hotter the better; however, I don't like spicy foods. When his peppers were cooking, I began sneezing and coughing, pretty soon I could breath better (it must have cleaned my sinuses.
He's eaten some hot foods sometimes that even a couple of hours later I'll kiss him and my lips become on fire!
I've heard that eating peppers (jalepenos and the like) are good for you, but I can't handle hot, spicy food. What about you mylotters can you eat hot spicy foods?

hi dear Jodee, I love spicy foods and jalapenos are the best peppers available. Love eating them sooooo much.
What did your husband cook these peppers for? Did he put them into soup or stew or what did he do with them after they were cooked?I love them preserved in brine and will add them to stews or salads.... or eat them on their own.

He fried them with potatoes and bacon and other seasoning. He eats the peppers like they're candy! He eats sugar and gets heartburn, he'll eat a jalapeno and the heartburn goes away.

would be almost same here. Eating sugar gives me terrible heartburn as i am diabetic but no problem with Jalapenos. Sounds good to fry them with potatoes and bacon. Should try that as well.

I eat moderately hot spicy foods. They have many health benefits, like pain relief and fighting colds and the flu. You saw for yourself that even just breathing spiy aromas can have a positive effect.

Absolutely, the health benefits of eating spicy food is unreal! If my husband hasn't had his spicy food for a few days, he gets to feeling all worn down. So I'll tell him he needs to get his peppers and then he's fine!

I think that my hot sauce has kept me healthy. I haven't had a cold in years. The only respiratory problems is when I had complications after surgery and got post op pneumonia from not being able to wake up after surgery. Now I am fine again.

I love hot foods. And I love them so much that I have been experimenting with growing very hot peppers and making very hot sauces to last for the year. I have had big success with them as many of my friends love them too.

My husband grew different varieties of hot peppers this year too. He made some hot sauces too that only he can eat!

Yes, my husband understands! When he cooks his hot food, he'll cook mine first. Some times I forget if he uses a skillet and makes his hot food and I fix something in it, it's too hot for me!

I love hot and spicy food, but I'm the only one in my family that does. So, I keep Lousiana hot sauce on the table. I put it on everything. I had a gastric bypass in 2001 and as soon as I was healed good I went back to my hot sauce. I really miss it when I don't have it.

I love hot spicy foods!!! I seem to make everything spicy even when the recipe doesn't call for it. I love spicy Mexican and love making spicy salsa. We also have a Chinese place we order from next door and its so good...they have some really spicy dishes! They sure do clear out your sinuses! My 17 month old got a taste of our jalapeno mustard tonight and she loved it!

yep the hotter the better. I love spicy foods and so does my son. He can never get spices that are spicy enough for him. He must have a stomack made of steel.

I seem to like more spicy food than the rest of my family, but I've never been one for eating jaleponos in a gung ho way. I'm much more of a small amount on my nachos kind of person. I read the other day eating a lot of spicy food leaves you at a higher change for esophogeal cancer. But I imagine one would have to be super into spicy foods for that to happen.

I do not like really hot and spicy food. I like a little but not really hot. My son loves hot....when he was little one time I was chopping jalepenos to add to my chili and he came along and popped one in his mouth. He started running through the house screaming....well I was laughing and the tears were coming down and I accidently rubbed my eye.....OMG....it burned so bad you wouldn't believe it!

I love hot foods and those that are rich in spices. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's tolerance level for heat is quite a bit lower than mine; so, I'm always left to telling him to sample things before I buy them to make sure that they aren't too hot for him. I don't want to, for example, end up being left to consume an entire bottle of hot sauce.
Thankfully, my boyfriend does appreciate foods with a wide variety of spices. As long as I don't turn up the heat too much on dishes, he's good.

I love spicy foods and I have it almost everyday. Though that was before, becasue of my medical condition which I have those reflux, every now and then. My wife seldom cooks now those foods but I make it a point to have it once in while. For I love the feeling of eating spicy ones. Thanks

Oh I love hot and spicy foods and yes it is good for you, but you have to be careful not to overdo it, because it can also hurt your stomach. I think I get this from my dad, who would buy jars of hot pepper and pickle mix and my mom would get so mad because he would let me eat the hot pickles. Unfortunately he got an ulcer later on and had to quit eating spicy food and drinking coffee. Because of that, I am more careful, because I love my coffee and spicy food...
Also when we go to the porkfest, there are booths with free samples of hot sauces and dips with names like, "Volcano" or "fire" and I tried the hottest one there, and yeah, it was hot, it got to me, but I could eat...

I guess I am like you too. I don't think I can stand eating hot spicy foods with jalapenos or any other kind of hot peppers. I can eat a mild pepper though. I have heard on the news eating spicy hot foods sometimes can be good for you. Sometimes I can have some Indian food like curry as long as its a little bit hot and not too overly spicy to eat.

I love spicy food! i don't know why, but I enjoy eating them most especially with soda.
During my third pregnancy, I had the urge of eating everything spicy. I would ask my husband to buy me some spicy food then I would still add a dash of tabasco over it! SMOKING HOT, indeed!

I like spicy food but not too spicy that I could no longer taste and enjoy the food itself. My husband loves spicy food as well. He would put so many peppers so I would always tell him why don't he just eat those peppers because his food taste like pepper alone. I cooked spaghetti last night and he was asking me to put chilli pepper instead of red bell pepper. I said no and just put hot sauce into it.

I enjoy moderately spicy food..Mexican and Indian food are known for their spices..
I can't stand it when the food is way to spicy..One time i tried to eat chicken wings from Pizza hut..I thought I would see smoke coming out of my ears and nose if you managed to eat even one of this chicken..I don't know if they still have it at pizza hut but they were INNsAANELy HHHOOOTT...
Capsaicim are the highest level of spicy hot from the pepper family...I think...
