I was surfing the net this morning, when I saw this traveling blog. The pro-pictures taken were so inviting, looking forward to travel those places in the future. As I read the writer's blog personal opinion about the places, I was wide-eyed when the writer wrote a foul word with an exclamation point. It was not only once written, as a reader of his blog made me had this first impression of not reading further. I felt dismayed of what I've seen. Is it right to express your thoughts using foul words?

That's awful. That blog should be reported. I mean especially it's a travelog. I don't totally agree that even though you don't like the place or person, foul words are not good in blogs.

That's what I've thought. In addition, some of his subscribers and followers did the same thing in their write ups. That's really unethical. Thanks

Very unethical. Well, is there a website that filters the world's blogs? I mean with kids learning how to use the internet at an early age, they may come across these kind sof blogs.

I agree my friend. Too bad for him to do such...

I suppose it would depend on just how fowl the word was, but in my opinion, there is rarely a reason to use profanity in a blog. It's crude and shows a lack of character in the blog poster. It's one thing to use colorful language in private and another to use it publicly without consideration of others.

Some people can't express excitement or exclaimations without using foul language. And some love the impression it makes on others too. Not that it is necessarily wrong to use these words but better to find less shocking way to express themselves. Alot of people do not care for foul words.

Words are to express oneself. I guess some just need to be foul.

I do believe that you can express such curse words in a verbatim way. I take it a constructive criticism. Thanks for sharing

Though I can't say that I would personally use foul language as a way to express myself on my blog, I also can't say that a person that expresses themselve using foul language is wrong. The reason that I feel this way is because of the fact that I think that there are good ways to express ourselves using language that is not found to be offensive by other people. On the other hand, they are not necessarily wrong because we do have the freedom of speech and using foul language is one way of expressing our freedom of speech.

I do agree, freedom of speech is fine. In my own opinion, I don't think you can do it also into writing. Thanks for sharing

I think it is unjustified to use any foul word in one's blog as it would be read by many people who may not like it like you and keep away from it. So it would be ultimately a loss to the blogger.

It is so discouraging to read foul words , for me it degrades a writer. Writers are being look up to as the new who teaches us values , so decent and with a dignity. The name of a writer is her capital in writing career. Not overnight you build that name then by just one word it destroys you. If we write we must be careful for the words being used , remember the globe is reading it , therefore it must be seat of values.

I say yes, as long as its in a tactful manner you should express your thoughts in a comment on this blog, or any other blog you run across with foul language. If it were me, I would kindly tell the person that I loved the information that he had; however the foul language makes it difficult to read. He may not know that he is killing his own subscribers by doing this, and by you speaking up you would actually be helping him, if he takes the advice. Now if you leave the comment and things don't change, or he sends back a derogatory message in response, then I would just not visit the blog again.

I guess it's freedom of expression, but it would have been nice if foul words are refrained from use, especially as it is a blog describing a part of a different country. He could get into trouble with it, too.

I don't think when writing a blog anyone should be using foul language. If you are writing a personal letter or a personal email that is totally different. However, something that is going to be read by many its just not acceptable to me. It shows how inmature the writer is when they reduce to dirty words. There should be some type of law not accepting that type of language on a blog. Such as mylot does not accept it.

It would be nice to utter such foul words when you are around with close friends, I might perceived as an personal expressions. But in writing, I am not really comfortable reading it. Thanks for sharing

I am appalled that bloggers try to be like journalists who sometimes offer "facts" that are not facts and try to look smart by giving us illogical reasons for their thinking. Many times the Internet allows ignorance to come out disguised as knowledge. So it's no surprise that someone curses in their blog. It's no different than bullies hiding behind the computer screen and saying cruel things to people. One of these days they're going to insult the wrong person (possibly an alien who will reach through the screen and grab them by the neck.) Sad to say, not everyone who writes a blog is well educated or has been taught manners.

So it's a travel blog, showing scenic pictures of different places. The blogger is inviting readers to visit the places he had featured in his/her blog. Maybe he/she had been to these places and must had enjoyed the trip and he/she wants to share his experienced to others by featuring in his/her blog. I'm just wondering why had he/she had written foul words emphasizing it with exclamation point. Maybe he/she had a reason for doing so...

Well, I think you're talking about the famous Blogger site, which I (at least for the moment), have not registered yet. In every way, it's not nice for anyone to read bad words written. Me too, in a sense, would give trouble. If I were to read a blog full of swear words, I probably read it in fully, even to understand where he/she really wants to get the person who wrote! But I would not leave any comments, because otherwise, it might not be other than negative!

Some writers just don't take responsibility on their posts. As long as they can express their thoughts, they don't consider the use of foul words on their readers. They say, it's freedom of speech, and so ended up abusing such freedom.

It really depends on how the reader actually perceives the foul word, but if you think it is really THAT foul until you decided not to read further, then it is probably not appropriate then to be used to express one's thoughts. I think for travelogs, if one doesn't like a destination, just don't write about it at all, because somebody else may like the destination; it's a matter of personal preference. As the saying goes, "one person's junk is another's treasure". If that travelog has a section for comments, maybe you could drop a comment (anonymous if possible) to the author stating that you were dismayed with those foul words that he/she used; maybe that could bring the author to their senses if they are open to advice and criticism. If they don't take it well, at least you tried.....

I guess you read what you want it to, they obviously wrote it with some passion in their voice. I don't mind foul language because even though its coarse words that we don't normally use it still gets the point across. I was told that cussing means you have a limited vocabulary but I think its a matter of choice. If the writer is angry then the word "dang" just doesn't parlay the readers anger. If it offended you then let them know, it may have been a really good blog article.

As a person, everything we say or do is rooted from our thoughts. In case someone else is too addicted in using foul words, maybe anyone could reason out that it's a way of expression. Only that, we need to be careful, we may not be aware that children are around and hear us and think that saying those words are "normal" since they hear it from the elders. Or another thing, we may be able to utter it in front of the old ones, isn't it just disrespectful of us :/ Then eventually, someone brings this kind of habit even to writing.. True, just like you, if it was me reading that blog, I could have left it soon too =] I don't want to pollute my mind with nasty foul words. I'd rather read the most worthwhile articles. Good day ahead =)
