Should India resume cricket ties with Pakistan?

I don't think so. The situation there is still bad and there is no guarantee of safety for any team from any country. If BCCI is keen to play there It will be interesting to know whether the home ministry will give the necessary clearance. Things were bad when the entire Lankan team was almost blown to smithreens but after the Osama killing by the US Naval seals, Pakistan has lost all credibility and is no position to host cricket matches for a visiting Indian team.

I see no harm in India resuming their cricketing ties with Pakistan. Of course, traveling to Pakistan might still not be on the cards. Instead like the other countries, India can play them in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Cheers! Ram

LOL! You want India to play Pakistan at Sharjah and Dubai? Pakistan cricket is doing well now because there is no money in Pakistan cricket board. You give them the taste of money and see how corrupt the entire cricketing world can become. Have you forgotten the infamous tournaments conducted there by the likes of Asif Iqbal and the Gulf sheiks. Those were the shady tournaments which saw the involvement of Dawood Ibrahim. That was the beginning of match fixing and that is where our boys like Azhar and Ajay Jadja got tempted to fix matches. It took great courage on the part of players like Sachin and the BCCI to get out of the clutches of big gulf moneybags. Where is Asif Iqbal now? Thank God those days are over. But those jokers will be trying to entice India into their net and if the politicians stay away from cricket the game will be safe. Neutral venues like England, South Africa, Srilanka, New Zealand... most member countries will be suitable for hosting Ind-Pak matches

I have a slightly different view here..and it is born right now by reflecting on all the posts here. There is antagonism that exists between the two nations. That is undeniable. While any competition, such as sur kshetra or cricket only fans it, there is a possibility that such games may keep people engaged in more positive thing like watching television rather than sitting at home and talking against each other. I too agree, it is a bit early for this match, but in due course, it should come.

The people of Pakistan are the most generous hosts and most of Indian visitors have come back singing their praises. The average noth Indian has a lot of love and regards for the people of Pakistan. The problem is not with the people of our two countries. The Muslim world dominated by Saudi Arabi and the others are responsible for the animosity between the two nations. The encouragement given to jihad by these oil rich rogue nations is trying to foment trouble in the region. With a baniya(business) minded USA trying to sell arms to the war mongering countries it suits them to keep this area unstable. After 9/11 these baniyas have realized that what goes around comes around and now they are careful about their dirty handiwork in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Neutral venues other than Dubai and Sharjah is OK. India should not play in Dubai and Sharjah, no way!

BCCI never had problems with having series against Pakistan, its home ministry who did not allow that.As far as Pakistan hosting a series i donn think BCCI has problem with that either but like you mentioned no country would risk sending their team to Pakistan under current circumstances and BCCI has blacklisted the venues like Sharjah,Abudhabi due to all those match fixing allegations and proofs. So in case Pakistan wants to host the series which place it will happen is the big question here.

I totally agree with playing in Pakistan is not safe at all. However, not playing with Pakistan for this reason is not correct as well. I think playing at a neutral venue is a better option like UAE( Abu-Dhabhi). Even Pakistan can come to India as we welcome everyone in our country and I believe they would be more safe in India rather than in their own country. More India plays Pakistan the tension and presure related to India-Pakistan match will decrease gradually as people will be used to seeing them play together.

Hey thanks for posting this discussion. I too strongly feel that it would be pretty early to resume ties with Pakistan in cricket as the political situation is still not in the better stage in Pakistan. i know they are keen to remove the hoax from the minds of the people by inviting India to play in their country, but nothing can be guaranteed so early. At first things have to be sought out and then only BCCI and PCI should contemplate on resuming the ties. What say?
