A puppy abandoned and left to fend for itself.

Tilly the little terrier - Tilly does not keep still for long, she is always listening, looking and running around. She loves to come into the house and play ball which she continually retrieves and places at my feet. She sits and raises a paw for treats. She is a little jealous of Connie and nips her ears when she gets excited.

We found Tilly, our third dog, in the same area as we found Connie. It was a cold, wet Monday morning when my husband saw a tiny puppy on a hill in a quiet lane. She was wet and muddy and cold and no more than 6 weeks old. We gave her a little food and a warm wash to remove the mud. She was a cuddly little thing and could not have been alone for long, she looked as though she had a mother somewhere who had done a good job. I was relieved to see that she was weaned. She cried in the night and ended up beside me in the bedroom. It was a disturbed night with lots of trips into the garden. Tilly settled down immediately, she is an independant and bright little dog. She looks as though she has some Jack Russell in her and she is tireless. She is an aspiring Pack Leader but as she is only half the size of Elsa she has to behave herself, which she learned to do very quickly. She is, however, the first to raise the alarm if strangers venture near the house.

I have posted her photo and those of a couple of the other dogs too. I hope you can find them. I've just realised that photos are easy to publish so I hope to add some more later on.

Animals are such cute and furry friend and creatures capable of giving us genuine love and loyalty. It is great to know that people still care for homeless or left behind puppies in the streets. . I for one would do it if i have my own house but my dad does not want me to keep puppies or dogs i find in the street that are homeless and left alone to be lonely. . Good day for you, say hello to your dog in behalf of me. Cheers!

Sounds like you are a dog person. I am a cat person. Grown up around them and we have a low income apartment and can't afford to have dogs. Jack Russell dogs are such adorable things. Glad to hear your husband saw her and brought her into your lives. Sounds like she is a nice addition to the pack.

And they have such regal baring. I like being around them. Have had some great dogs in my life but I like cats the best.

Yes they do have regal bearing, I wonder if that is why they call a mother cat a 'Queen'.

I'm a cat person too celtic. We have two cats as well as five dogs. I hope to post some photos of the cats as well eventually. I rather like writing about my animals. Cats are more restful to have around than dogs, they exercise themselves and are more self contained.

Another heart warming story of saving an abandon puppy! Tilly is one lucky dog! It sounds like she was adandoned by her original owners for whatever reason. Knowing she is a Terrier I can see her being full of energy! She sounds like a wonderful dog like the others you have!

They are all wonderful dogs and each one individually would make a great companion. However five in a pack brings out the dog in the dog! We try to give each one individual attention but it cannot be quite the same as having a dog in the house that becomes part of the family. She is full of energy, she is the only one who will retrieve a ball so I bring her in and play with her in the house. It is not good for the floor but if I throw the ball outside she takes it and runs off and I am afraid that one of the other dogs will get it and then Tilly will lose her toy.

What an inspiring and awesome stories about dogs. I am a dog lover too, because dogs amuse me so much. As a matter of fact, I have presented a similar discussion about Dogs Wonderful Acts. I am happy for the dogs now that they are in good hands. Thanks to you and you husband too. God bless you for your kindheartedness.

I wonder where her mother is.. I love having pets, and I think dogs are such a joy to be with! They're energetic and fun. :) I hope she's doing well now. Great for her that you found her. Imagine what would have happened if nobody found her that sad cold day.:(

I imagine her mother is somewhere in the area, there are a number of other similar looking dogs roaming around, but she is the smallest I've seen.

That little puppy has grown into a very robust little dog. Quite a naughty one but the most responsive of the dogs we have. Probably because she is the only one that has not had a previous life with anyone else.

You have such a big heart to bring in all these wonderful animals. I take in stray cats, but I have been threatened with eviction in the past for having too many animals and so I have just two cats now.

Well done for rescuing the little dog Tilly. It is shocking that someone dumped her up there on a cold wet Monday morning. She was only around six weeks old so it was lucky that she was already weaned. It is charming she has got some Jack Russel in her. It is ever so funny she is aspiring to be the pack leader. She sounds like an excellent little guard dog.

hi 41CombedaleRoad Tilly sounds like an adorable little puppy.I love dogs and cats toe. It hurts to think so m any people get puppies then just abandon them without finding another better home for them. With me when i got a dog it became one of our family. where I am now it would cost me a lot more on my rent to have a small dog here and I cannot afford it.Sounds like she has made her peace with Elsa too.thanks for happy picture for me this morning.

Sad that it was abandoned but good to hear that you adopted it. I have 4 dogs, three of which were rescues. They get on my nerves quite often sometimes but they are my family and I could never give them up for the world.

Mine get on my nerves too sometimes, they play so loudly and awake so early. However they are just being dogs and there is no malice in them, just the desire to enjoy life, have a home and someone to look after them.

You are very nice to take in yet another dog. She is lucky you came along when you did to rescue her. So many people mistreat animals, there really should be harsher laws against it.
