The last time he was asked (I know, just wait a little while and he'll change) Romney said he wants US troops to stay in Afghanistan for years longer tahn the current treaties indicate.
Should US troops stay till 2014 no matter the problems there - stay a little longer or stay for years longer like Romney says?

In terms of experience, as some folks like to say, Mitt doesn't have any. He doesn't have any agents or advisors there. He doesn't have a clue in this matter. I agree with one of these Mylotters who says he has been there. From Napoleon to Russia, that is not a good place for a foreign army to be. If we were Rome, we would obliterate those mountains. And we do have the power. You'll see how powerful we are if Iran tries to nuke Israel. President Obama's enemies like to say the U.S. is weak. We are the most powerful nation military wise, that the world has ever seen. Yet, Afghanistan offers a special problem. As long as there are poor, the Taliban will always be around and have draftees until Christ comes. The way there are attacks on American troops lately, you'd think our enemies in Afghanistan want Romney to win which should make you think. Hmmmmmmm.

i am unsure of what we are exactlly forefilling being in Afghanistan other than parents, siblings and other close relatives losing loved ones so i would pull ALL the troops out NOW!
thats before i even get into the financial cost of having the troops over there, horrifying!
The money would be far less if it was spent on internal protection costs, afterall, all the terrorist attacks have happened on homesoil by terrorists based in homesoil.
and i work with a parent who's son has just been posted to Afghanistan and i know the stress and worry they are under.
And let's not forget it's not Afghanistan that is responsible for training terrorist, rather it is Pakistan and for political reasons that is a no,no to go near.

valentinesdiner I haven't read exactly what Romney said about the troops in Afghanistan. I have heard him say it was foolish to signal the radicals exactly when we will pull out.
I don't think Romney or anyone wants our troops there any longer than they feel necessary. I guess the differnce is what some call necessary.
