If you got a free or discounted train ticket to your home country's capital city which places in it would you wish to see? London is the capital of my home country. I have seen a ten pound off deal plus I can use my Friends and Family Railcard too. I wish to arrive early on a Saturday morning and depart late in the afternoon or early in the evening. The sights I wish to see are the London Eye sightseeing wheel, the River Thames and Kew Gardens. I want to take my disabled son and my daughter. The fast train only takes 2 hours and 12 minutes so I think why not go for a day out in November.
So which sights would you like to see in your home country's capital city?
Would a day be enough or would you stay a few days?

I was hoping to go on a cheap day out to London before the end of the year, but will probably end up doing so next year sometime instead now. I am lucky as get good deals at work for reduced rail and so I could go for a day on the really early train and late one back or get a cheap hotel and stay the night. I want to go and see wicked at the theatre so that is what I plan to see next year sometime if I can.

It is lovely that you get great deals at work on train fares. If you find a cheap hotel you could have a bit longer there. The wicked theater would be very so exciting and enjoyable for you. My kids are so excited about our day trip to London on 17 November.

Well, I live close to the capital of my state, but very far away from the capital of my country. I would like to visit Washington D.C., but only during the day. They have a very high crime rate. I guess I could put a joke in there considering most of our politicians live and work around that area.

It would be more than a day before I can reach our capital city of our country from my hometown, but five-hour trip on a train to the capital city of our province. Now I am working in another province. The place I am working is very near the capital city of this province. It is like an hour before I can get there in a bus. So usually my family travel there in a bus. There is so much to see in the city of Hangzhou and our favorite places to go is the West Lake and its downtown area for shopping. Just this month, my family went to Hangzhou and stayed for two nights, three days.

I guess I would head to Los Angeles, its the closest big city to where I'm at. I'm sure it would be a site because California is mostly mountains where I live and it would be nice to see them up close and go where I never could with a car. I've been to our nations capitol in Washington D.C. but I never been to my states capital in California.

I would like to spend a couple of days in Copenhagen, because there are plenty of places that I would like to visit. It is quite expensive to cross the bridge between Funen and Zealand where Copenhagen is and that is another reason I would like to spend more than one day there. In Copenhagen I would like to visit many different museums for instance the museum of modern art, Guinness world records museum, Ripley's believe it or not, the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale house and the open air museum where you can find many kinds of old houses from the past. I have visited Ripley's museum and Guinness world records in the past, but it was many years ago, and I would like to visit those museums again. I have never visited the other museums, but I think they sound interesting.

Since I only live 15kms from London and have spent about ten years commuting and living in London I wouldn't want to spend a day trip into my capital LOL! I admit there are some lovely sights and tourist attractions to go to. But most I have already been to when I was young and had a friend and we would buy a Capital Card (I am showing my age here!) and we would travel around London on the trains and tubes, it was fun at 15 to do that. I don't think there is much of London I haven't seen or want to see now. Now I am older I prefer the peaceful life so if I went anywhere it would be away from crowds.

Hello Wolfie. You live quite near to London. It is lovely that you have already seen most of London. I can see you prefer to visit more quiet and peaceful places these days. I bought the train tickets and it will be a day trip. I have ordered some leaflets about London Transport and step free access. Trains go into Paddington and I am more familiar with Waterloo and Victoria.
