It's 72 degrees here... just beautiful

Lots of folks are reporting cold weather and snow. Not so here. We have some cool mornings sometimes, but it is beautiful and warm here. I had my daughter take my pic on my phone, and I wanted to show that it is still warm and I'm still in summer clothes. The flowers have gone away. I was standing near our dogwood tree. When it is in blossom it is a sight to be seen. Just gorgeous. I hope we do get a change of season to have winter because if it stays warm all year like it did last year, the bugs and ants abound. We are lucky not to have any in the house, but they are around the yard and stuff.

I would love it if it was 72 degrees here, I really would as it's not too hot is it? Just right!

Yes Janey, it is just the right temperature. I was out sweeping the patio today and the area with the mat that collects dirt and leaves. If I don't sweep there the diet will get on the floor in the foyer and kitchen.

It must be great to get out and about and not be too hot. How is your sweating now? I know you had a problem with it a while back..has it improved? You seem a lot perkier if that's a word.

Cute new photo, PQ! It's been getting chillier here - at least at night and in the mornings . . . and supposedly rain is in the forecast (barely a drizzle yet). But my friend says it's supposed to get back into the 90's by next week!! I can't believe it but at the same time I do - simply because we are in Southern CA and that's just the way the weather works here - it's a mixed bag. I have both my summer and wintery clothes out - so I'm ready no matter what - ha ha.

I don't really have any winter clothes. I have some hand me downs from my daughter. She gave me a Betty Boop sweat jacket that zips up the front. I'll wear that on chilly days. I have a beautiful winter cost that I only wore twice last winter. We just stayed warm most of the winter in the 70s.

How are your winters? Our winters are rainy at best (no snow here) and for us to say it's "cold" makes the rest of the nation laugh. So my winter clothes really aren't too wintery (but I can layer them up). I remember way back when it was really warm in December around Christmas - oh it can be so unpredictable here. Betty Book sweat jacket sounds cute - and it's probably very comfy!!

Last year we had a very warm winter. A few years ago we had an ice storm that cut our power off for about 5 days. One year we had a big snowstorm but it melted away in a couple if days. It just depends. Each year is different. So far it is fall and very warm still.

I have heard it will be a cold winter. 72 is a nice fall type temperature, so enjoy it while it is there. Today was a bit chilly but not too bad. We have been soaking the fruit trees because they are very thirsty and dry.

We haven't had much rainfall this year. But everything seems to be alright with the trees and azalea bushes. It's about 65 here now in the twilight hours.

Last year it stayed in the 70s most of the winter. It got cool at night but warmed right up again in the daytime. It was wonderful. We still have the AC on here set at 80 degrees a d it still kicks on once in awhile.

Hi PQ, Send some of that sunshine this way!! It is so so cold right now that it feels as if it could snow. It was snowing not too far from here. Last winter was ridiculous. We had that one major storm around this time and got so much snow that it came up over my knees and then almost nothing the rest of the winter. I like the changing seasons so I do hope its not like that again. Also, as you mentioned it just messes things up with the bugs etc.

Yes it does mess things up. We have more spiders in the house. We have killed about 7 spiders in the last couple of months.

It cooled down a lot here. Temperature is down to 85 degrees now. It feels cool which is surprising - I remember what those below zero days were like when I lived in NJ, stayed in MA, PA, VA, IL and NH. Don't miss those days. But, it could be a little cooler - but it is still swimming season here.

Hi CookinIsMyPassion! You are even warmer than we are in GA. I love it though. I hate really cold weather too. I was born and raised in NY state. I would like to wear my pretty fake fur and leather jacket at least once this winter though.

Yeah, that's probably all you will need this winter. I only wore my cost a couple of days last year. Last December and January it stayed in the high sixties and low seventies.

Last year in MS I wore a heavy hooded sweatshirt for a coat. At the rate it is going the spring jacket I wore in NJ may be all I need in AL when winter really rolls in. Time will tell.

Our temperatures fluctuate a lot, so we could still have some 70 or even 80 degree days, but it has started to cool down a lot. We had a hard freeze and a couple of frosts, but most nights have been above freezing while the daytime temps have been anywhere from the low 50s to the high 60s. It's supposed to be a little rainy and cooler over the weekend, though. I love it when the weather changes.

Yeah we get cool at night when the sun goes down. It might go down in the high 50's at night sometimes and nice and warm in the day while the sun us up.

Sure... rub it in... We went straight from summer to late autumn, it seems. Other years it's been warmer in October, but this year the temps dropped significantly in a short time. I've had to put the fireplace on most days for a week now.

Yeah, we also have had years where it is cold in winter and other years where you only had to a sweater some days and in summer clothes the rest of the time.

hi dear PQ nice to read its still warm where you are. Its cooling off here, still sunny during the day but even if I wear a sweat shirt its quite fresh in the mornings and evenings so I will need my jacket soon. I am not really looking forward to winter as its a pain in the azz to commute with more and more train delays and I hate it. The only good thing about winter is that I get back to making my hot stews and hot drinks are more enjoyable too to warm up.

Hi dear RitterSport. I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have to deal with train delays. I've never ridden in a train except for a subway train and the coal burning train at Dollywood. I like those hot drinks too. I like to make chili in the winter.

I am living in a tropical country so I don't really experience that change of weather. It may became cold in here because of the rain but we don't need very thick clothes to handle it. Anyways, I am glad that you are enjoying the weather in your place. And I think it's a good way to go out and walk around. Have a nice day!

Hi Smurfy! I would love to live in a tropical place like Hawaii. But since I never will ill just be content where I am. I was outside an hour and a half today. I was sweating while I was working out there. It is still in the 70s here.

Georgia must be a lovely place to live, and it is wonderful to feel that you are cheating the weather a little by still being in summer clothes. Where I live it is still warm enough to go into the sea. My husband took a photo of me standing in a still blue sea and I felt great, just as you did near the dogwood tree. I felt I was cheating the weather too. I wish you a wonderful Indian Summer and a beautiful but short winter, to get rid of all those insects.

Yeah, this weather gets confusing to nature. It gets so warm that the trees will start budding again. They haven't yet, but they will if it stays very warm. Last December the trees started budding again and the flowers started blooming again. This also happened with our family's blueberry farm. The trees started budding blueberries in the winter and then we got a freeze and it killed all the buds and there were no blueberries that year.

I'm so jealous! I never seem to get enough outdoor time! Wait, I take that back we had a beautiful warm and early spring! But I still never seem to have enough quality time outside! It's my own fault too! Oh well, maybe we'll get an Indian summer. Enjoy! it may be cold soon enough!

hi pointlessquestions its like that here todo and it rained this m orning it actually rained. yippee not a lot but its cooling off and i think maybe the hot days are done for now. after all it is fall you know. we have few deciduous trees here so no pretty fall colors. everything is green instead.there are some lovely grey to black clouds building up so we may have another rain shower. next w eek I have to stop procrastinating and get some blood work done and make an apt to see DrDuctor for getting me to have a colonoscopy hate the thing its not painful but the process of taking a huge laxative is scary as you have to spend hours in the' bathroom lol. but get that done and not have to do that again for five years.looks like we may get more rain tonight yet. wow.

Hi Auntie Hatley! Rain sure will bring around some cooler air, especially if there is a thunder storm. I love to watch thunder storms. I have to have a colonoscopy next year. I get them every 5 years also cause I'm at risk due to having polyps. I'm fixing to go outside and work a little before it gets dark. Have a good night!

How lovely! I wish it was warmer here, 59 at the moment. It's supposed to get down below freezing tonight. I'd love it if it would just get into the 60's right now. But, it's that time of year. I have heard that we are in for a very bad winter this year. By "bad", I'm not sure if that means colder than average temperatures or more snow than usual or a combination of both. I sure hope not but it would have one advantage, next summer we won't have the horrible insect problem we've had this summer! Last year's warmer-than-normal winter created such a horrible insect problem, didn't it? We had it especially bad with bees, wasps and ants. I'm not sure if this new stink bug infestation was worse this year because of the mild winter or not since they've become such a widespread problem. Do you have stink bugs that far south or are they still a problem only in the northeast? The infestation is spreading and spreading very fast. I just don't know how far they've spread so far. I hope this winter, if it is as bad as predicted, will prevent such a bad insect problem next year. Enjoy that weather!

We did get a hard freeze that night; it got down to 30 degrees. Today it reached 72 here so I guess it's safe to assume that no weather is permanent, not even for an entire day. I wish we didn't have those nasty wasps. My husband got stung just yesterday on his hand and he's also allergic to them. He took an antihistamine right away but his hand still swelled up like a blown-up rubber glove. I know it's bad of me but I had to laugh. We watched it carefully to make sure it wasn't going to continue swelling and, as he didn't have any trouble breathing, he didn't need to use his Epipen. I think I might have to move where you moved, PQ. It would be great not to worry about wasps and I despise these nasty stink bugs! They don't just stink when squashed or frightened, they also destroy crops and they eat just about anything. They all but killed my tomato, pepper and potato plants this year. I had to go outside every day and examine each plant, pulling those stinky bugs off. I learned to keep a food storage bowl (with tight-fitting lid) nearby with soapy water in it so I could just grab it and throw the stink bugs right into it, then slap that lid on tight because they'd release that horrible smell immediately. They die pretty fast in soapy water but almost always get that stink out before they die.

I remember stink bugs when I lived in New York. If you stepped in them or they felt threatened they would stink bad. I don't think I have seen them down here. Summer before last I was stung by a wasp on 3 occasions. I'm severely allergic and have to use an epipen. Here where we moved last summer we don't have any wasps. We have lots of dirtdobbers but they dove have stingers.

It could be what is wrong with you. I never knew I was so sick. I just had no energy and couldn't make myself write or anything. Now I am back to writing. I don't write every day, but I do write 2 or 3 times a week. I see a big difference in me.
