makeup sample displays

I thought I'd ask if the ladies on here utilize the sample displays of makeup in the stores. Do you just look at the product? rub the sample on your hand to see color against your skin tone? Or do you acutually use the product on your face/mouth? I saw a lady today do that... she put a sample lipstick on her lips. These aren't the lil mini ones you used to get in those holiday makeup sets these are near full size and left in a display for you and everyone else to try the color. I don't think I'd want to use any product everyone in town could of tried. Now sharing with my girls is one thing but this is another.

If I sample something, it is on my wrist. There is no way I would use it on my face. I have wondered about those makeovers they offer in stores to try out new makeup...surely they use disposable stuff to apply it...or do they?

I honestly have no idea. I know we have disposable sample applicators but not disposable sample sizes. We don't do makeovers thankfully but it is a good question if they do that at the makeup counters or not that offer that.

I have thought about going and having it done before. I would be concerned and ask before doing it. It's not that I have a phobia over germs, but there are just some things that I consider over others.

I've seen them do makeovers before at the department stores. They use non disposable brushes but they also clean them with brush cleaner.

I would use the sample on my hand or wrists just to see how they would look in my skin tone, but I only do swatching. I don't use it on my face because goodness knows where these samples have been used. If I am sure to buy it, then I just make sure to get a new, sealed one. I know some women who would willingly buy samples at a lower price. Ugh!

We went to a rummage sale once where an elderly lady was selling her used cosmetics as part of her rummage. I couldn't help but think she needed to either keep it or toss it out. The only sample of anything I'd want would be of the perfume.

Before I found my favourite lipstick, I tried it different shades to my wrist. Sometimes, the actual colour is nice but its different when applied on the skin. I also want to check the texture of the make up first.

First I have to know if it's Vegan (not tested in poor Animals) but then yes I would test in my skin, specially the powder cause it has to match our skin and be one color lighter only. I've seen the result of a regular gal to buy a very tanned one and wow, was that a horrible result? . A professional told her to just go one ton lighter.

haha this question is something I wonder about all the time. For me, it depends on the store/product. For foundation, I MUST try it on my own skin before buying it. I don't go full out and apply the whiole thing to my face, but I will open it and put it on my hand or my neck to see if it matches. For lipstick or polish, I usually won't go and open a bottle to use.The only reason I would test it out is if it is a sample and it was meant to be used as a tester.

I would never take a random sample lip stick and smear it on my lips. I have taken things like eye shadow and foundation to see if I liked the colors. I'll never put anything like that on my lips. I think that's kind of gross. People carry all kinda of germs and that's been directly on someones mouth.

I am not in the market for makeup right now, but if I were, I would look at the samples, and possibly try them on my hand or wrist, but not anywhere else. That is just gross.
