A package holiday to Malta

My mother-in-law, my sister-in-law and her boyfriend are planning a trip to Malta in the beginning of 2013. They want to find a cheap package holiday where both hotel and plane ticket are included. They have asked me to find a package holiday for them and I have found a couple of travel agencies where they sell package holidays to Malta and they are probably going to buy their holiday through one of those travel agencies. Another option would be a holiday where they book the plane ticket and the hotel separately, but it looks a bit more expensive to do it that way. Have you ever been to Malta? Which places did you visit and what did you think about the country? Do you usually buy a package holiday where both plane tickets, hotel and food are included? Or do you buy each thing separately?

In 1996 I got a flight to Malta. I stayed in accommodation in different places there seeing most parts of Malta, Comino and Gozo. I always travel as an independent traveler buying my flight separately to my accommodation. I stayed in backpacker hostels, private rooms and in guest houses.

It is nice that you had the chance to visit most parts of Malta. I have never been there, but I would like to visit Malta in the future. I think that it could be nice to rent a car and drive around and visit many different parts of the country. I look forward to hearing about the vacation that my husband's family is planning. I hope that they will take many pictures of the places that they visit. Like you I am an independent traveller. At first I buy my flight and then I find a place to stay. I like to stay in small hotels or bed and breakfast. Sometimes I arrange my accomodation before I leave and sometimes I only buy my flight and find a hotel when I arrive at my destination.

I have heard about Valletta, but I have never been there. I think that it would be an interesting place in visit. My husband and I probably won't be able to travel to Malta with my husband's family next year, but I hope that we will get the chance to visit Malta another time instead.

I didn't know that site, but I visited it when I had read your response. I agree it a great site. I was only going to visit the site for a short moment, but I ended up spending a lot of time there because I started reading some of the destination guides as well.

Have you tried looking at Expedia and Travelocity(Hotels.com etc) for a package deal? I myself only use miles when traveling so all my travels are free but I hear Malta is a great place to visit, how long will you guys be there for?

I hadn't thought about Expedia, but I checked it when I had read your response, but it looks like there are plenty of options there Malta seems to be more expensive than some of the popular destinations like Spain, but my husband' family would really like to visit Malta. I have never been there. They would like my husband and I to come with them, but I am not sure that we will be able to afford it as we are going a long and expensive trip this year. They plan on spending about a week in Malta. My mother-in-law is retired, but my sister-in-law and her boyfriend have to go back to work.
