Where Is Everybody? :-(

I remember the good old days when I could start a discussion about public toilets and receive over 100 responses. It still amazes me whenever I think about it and, sometimes, a person will respond to it even now. However, MyLot is definitely not as lively as it once was. Not that I'm bothered as I'm on here regardless but.. ..would I be if I was working full-time, I wonder? Would I be if I suddenly banged out a few kids (never gonna happen) and up to my eyes in nappies? People's circumstances change, that's for sure and that would explain why MyLot isn't as lively. Either that or they hate my guts. Haha!

Been here off and on all night. Kinda bored. Just went to make me a fried egg sandwich and now it's falling apart while I'm trying to eat it one handed. Anyway, I've noticed less traffic the past week, probably because of notifiers being off in the ether.

Hi, YOYO, have not seen you for awhile, so I thought I would say "Hi". I am imagining the site of you trying to eat that sandwich one handed.

Well, I got it down as messy as it was. I've been hibernating during the daytime when the most of you are here. Get up in the night and ding around. I think I'll have to rethink that. Get back on track with a sleeper I suppose. It's dull in here at nighttime. Thanks for hollering.

exactly that is one of the valid reasons. with notifier being restored i am sure many people will be logging on to mylot and responses may also increase.

I feel like there are some days on myLot that are slower than others. For me it seems that the past few days have been pretty slow and my discussions will only get a couple responses. It seems that the weekends have the most activity, probably because everyone is off from work. It's a bit disappointing for me when I'm home and I want to myLot and there's not a lot of people responding to me or starting discussions I can answer.

For some reason I feel the opposite is true. In my case, it's quieter on here at weekends but I suppose it depends on which subjects you're interested in. I tend to avoid anything naughty or controversial. No wonder I'm bored lol.

I'm kind of the same way. My favorite discussions are when people have personal problems in their lives and are venting or need advice. I guess it's the psychology major in me that just can't resist talking to people about their problems lol

Janey, I think it has to do with all the people not getting notifiers. I have had a busy few days, but for the last two I have had tons of discussions friends started, they just do not come to my inbox, I have to go looking for the site and then the friends started tab. I only work part time, but some of those parts exhaust me and keep me away. So do other more fun things. I am still lurking around here though. You will see me. Have I missed some discussions by you?

Not many, to be honest. I do know about the email notifier not working and it's frustrating to say the least. What I cannot understand is why I delve into my inbox to come in here when I should just log into MyLot. It's a habit of mine I cannot break. Very odd!

Even now a few discussions get good responses. For example yesterday a discussion on a man selling his wife started by me got good responses. But another topic on famous artist I started did not get even five responses. we cannot decide about members. Janey--one interesting thing I observed-- you have started 1397 discussions and you have responded 1568 . Great. have you been able to resolve all the discussions and at what periodicity do you select the best response. Yes. I find you are a member for ove 3 years.

Well personally I think a lot of it is we do not have the amount of people active here like we used to have, and that really makes a difference for sure. I also know a lot of us have other lives besides being here all the time, but this is still a Great place to be. I know there are a lot of people missing in action due to various things and it is Sad, but I am glad to still be here when I can.

Well, you never know. There are a lot of people who have disappeared over the yrs. I know a few left due to situations in here, and then some who say they cannot get back in here, while others especially Newer people might leave due to the slow pay. But I am working Full time, have medical issues, etc. but here when I can as I still highly enjoy being here.

I know you do my friend and it's always nice to see you pop in from time to time. Do some people take the site too seriously, maybe? You know, if someone has upset them they stay away on purpose? If I was working I'd still be on here but maybe not as much, so I'm hopeful that people have actually found real jobs to go to as it will alleviate the pressure with bills, etc.

Aside from people moving on or just getting busier with more important stuff, I believe mylot is also affected by trending phase. There are times when this community would be so alive while there are dry seasons as well. It is probably normal and understandable. I do miss the old times, too. The times when discussions would be responded with seriousness, criticism, and even just plain jokes just for the laughs. Eventually, and I hope I'm right in saying this, some members would soon emerge to be these type of people and help keep this community alive again. Good old days!

Thinking about it now, I do remember the issue on abuse and other stuff that lead to account termination and all that. Needless to say, those times were quite fun, perhaps golden even. This place now has become sterile, as you described it, probably because of the less jokes and jokers around.

So it's not just me then? When I first became a member here (about 3 years ago I think, possibly longer) the community was more vibrant but there again there was more abuse as well. The latter has virtually stopped for the sanity of the site's members but - some would say, it's a sterile place because of it. I'd love to able to tell jokes though but they're not allowed.

Heehe...everybody is here nobody in public toilet everyone is using their own private toilet. I remember the discussion about public toilet. I respond on it in funny way. I also remember old days when I mostly started funny discussion like talking from toilet, non stop talking, mylot picnic, my husband has girl friend etc. I got lots of funny responses more and more conversations there everyone is enjoying. But now those days never came back. I cant start any funny discussion.

Over a hundred responses was really amazing. My highest was around sixty. I guess some are busy in some other aspects of their lives but there are still some who come once in awhile and trying to be active here.

ardoy: good you are able to claim sixty as highest number of responses received. In my case it is 50+. People are busy with their regular work -- it office, call centre, hospital, school, household work etc. after finishing that only they do come here--for me no work-- main work now is mylot and watching movies. What was the discussion topic that brought sixty responses for you? do you remember?

This no notifications glitch is not helping either, isn't it? Many are depending on them to start responding and commenting here. Without them, many cannot be bothered to dig discussions manually any more than what they are used to when notifications are available.

I suppose I got into the habit of checking my emails, primarily from MyLot members. It's correct too, that I don't go onto the MyLot site WITHOUT being notified of responses or new discussions first. I must change that particular habit, starting right now.

suggestions for operating in an environment wherein notifications are received -- discussed in http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2710756.aspx This may help some of us here. you are right absence of notifications is one reason for many people to not to stay on mylot. or it may be they have some other work.

I think because myLot is so diversified now with so many people that everything gets spread out? That's my theory any way in why there aren't 100 responses on topics lately.

Could be. As one MyLotter said many moons ago, there is no shortage of topics to discuss so it's strange when there are so many repeat discussions..or 'similar' discussions might be a better word. It can be very hard to be unique with so many members on here, you're so right about that. I think I would be more upset if I got NO responses rather than not getting 100. One hundred is/was a rare event. It just looks good lol.

18 Oct 12
Nothing wrong with feeling good about that number though, that is one big discussion. I find it odd with so many similar or repeat discussions as well. I am convinced it is due tot he laziness of the creators. Especially because some of them are literally one on top of the other. Or perhaps they don't know the function of the "recent' tab and so this is why that occurs. We're all uniqure in our own ways, don't change for anything just myLot and have fun!

I'm guilty of not having responded to or generated a discussion here on Mylot for over 3 years... Oddly, I once asked the same question a few years ago. It seems that my answers came from observing my own lifestyle changes and how they affected my online habits. I have turned 60, lost and found work and romance, made money on other sites, started a few new writing efforts and changed residences a few times. Living organisms are the soul and machinery of social sites like Mylot. We Humans are very much in motion and change is truly the order of the day. I am very glad that Mylot is still active (and paying) it's loyal participants. That I can find readers for my 6 year old articles is an amazing joy to me. I hope that my own participation will increase on Mylot once again. I am still promoting my links and trying to introduce Mylot to more newcomers. We Mylotters can be very proud that we are still viable and remain among the very first few sites that actively PAID it's members for their efforts. My Blessings Abound!

Yes, I remember well my very first payment from MyLot and it was indeed the FIRST site that paid me..for something I like doing as well. I thought it was amazing (and still do) but I've also found other sites that pay, like you have. I guess MyLot was the catalyst to find other legitimate sites because, up until that point, I didn't think they existed!

Talking of public toilets -- true toilets in usa and canada are well maintained. the reason -- population is less, water is available, fund are allotted for cleaning and people are paid sufficiently for this. In India - reverse situation-- so travelling by road in India is difficult for women. You have to find a five star hotel only and then go for the toilet. Also climatic conditions are favour lack of proper maintenance. True people also do not have patience to observe rules and regulations.

No, I've not been to a public toilet lately. I try to avoid it. Mum, however, goes a lot because she's very, very old lol. The Council ones are shut so she has to go to - either - the BHS ones (crap) or the Winter Gardens (posh). Guess which ones she generally chooses?

We don't hate you. We're still here Janey. I have been on and off of Mylot for the past 3 years and I should say that this year has been indeed so not as good as when I first came here. I don't know what happened to the others and I also don't know why it went quite all of a sudden. This may be because we have experienced so many glitches and issues this year alone. I do hope everything gets back to how it used to be.
