Shakespeare wrote that we are all actors in life and 'one man in his time plays many parts'. How many parts have you played and which is or was your favourite one? I've lived long enough to play most of the roles now, infant, school child, teenager, romantic, parent, grandparent. I've played lots of other roles in the work place. Do I have a favourite? Well maybe it was when when my children were small and the centre of my life and I played the role of a young mother. It was too short a period for me to tire of it.

Gestalt psychology states that all our parts are incomplete unless it is seen as a whole. think of a note by itself is just a note but many notes in a symphony makes something beautiful and as unique as we are. having said that, my roles, mother, daughter, sister, friend, student of psychology, writer, therapist, wife, lover, girlfriend, healer, animal lover, activist, advocate, woman, teacher, wounded child, sojourner, good person, and so on, my favorite role I think is truth seeker.

That is an interesting conclusion. Are you still seeking or did you find the truth? I am sorry that you were a wounded child but you have certainly left all that behind you now and lived life to the full.

a seeker of the truth searches all their life that is how you live life to the fullest. Life is complicated it has many pathways and many curves. There are general truths and individual personal truths and that is why a sojourner stays on this journey all their life to grow and to learn more things. It is the process called self actualization.

Hello Combed. I am 68 years old and so I think that I have played a good many roles during those years. The roles stared with my being an infant to being a grandmother and everything in between. I've been granddaughter and a daughter. A mother which also make me a nanny, teacher, doctor, nurse, chauffeur, cook, house keeper, a life coach for my kids, I have also been a bread winner, accountant, a business CEO. if t here is an occupation out there as a mother I have done it. As a wfe there are a number of roles i have played t here too but i don;t think I will mention them. Now I am a grandmother and that makes me a babysitter, adviser, good friend, The list could go on and on

You are a woman deebomb of many parts! You didn't say which was your favouritm but I think I can guess which was your least favourite. It is an eye opener to look back on all the skills one acquires just being a mother, and we and everyone else take this forgranted! Thanks for sharing.

One of my favourite roles I played was when I was working with children, at 32 a mature student I decided on a whole new career change, and it was a shock, I wanted to work with children and I spent 3 years in college and working in a primary school, the 5,6 and 7 years olds were my favourite and I loved it, I loved being the teaching assistant, helping children with their schooling and playtime. I was trained to work with 0-8 year olds, I had glowing references and not wanting to sing my praises too much the children loved me, it reflected in the reports I got at college. Being a positive male role model, something that I missed out on when I was a child. I loved their honesty, innocence and gusto for life, it was like seeing through a childs eyes again.

What a lovely memory that is wolfie, and it still brings a shine to your eyes I can see that from the way you have written about it. Thank you so much for sharing.

I think caregiver is my favorite one. Realizing i was a caregiver type person was interesting. I have played all the roles you mention plus single mom and mental patient. But caregiver has been the most satisfying for me. Knowing that I did all I could for my mom was very heart warming. I think that knowing what type of person you are in this life is very important and helps you to live this life to the fullest.

I could not agree with you more celtic. We all have a part to play and discovering what it is can be very satisfying because we recognise it in our deepest being when the discovery is made. Caregiving is a top role, people love to be in the limelight but caregivers only care about other people. It is the most unselfish role of all.

And it is just so weird that i didn't realize that was even what I was doing for so long. I just thought it was what was done. The normal family love given. It is odd to me what has to happen to make you understand and see who and why you are who you are and why you were put here.

As a grandfather, I too have had to play many roles, including caring for sick parents. To be honest, some have been a bit smelly and unpleasant, like changing diapers, no matter how old the person. But each role was played with as much love as I could pit into it. They have all made me a better person.

Each of us people are good actors in our life this is the one of the reason why people are still alive here. We people are much adjusted to the thing which makes life easy. I am glad to tell you that I had taken the role of a kid, an infant and more. Among all of them I love the role of a kid. It was the time I feel free. Really I enjoyed the time because I was totally free and it was the time I had a lot of love from every one. I never miss those memories.

No wonder the story of Peter Pan is so popular with children. Who wants to face the grown up world when the one we knew as children was so good.
