The International Church

Greece

Yesterday was a truly international event as the church I go to celebrated its 60th anniversary. The congregation is comprised of at least 20 different nationals a large percentage being from the Filipinnes,Africa and Far East - it was a very colourful gathering as they came in the National Dress. As I looked around I was reminded of the unity we have in Jesus Christ and how his vision of sharing the gospel to all nations is being accomplished. We were truly one in Christ. It was a little taste of Heaven for me.

I'm glad that you have come to realize and appreciate that God's people must be united. We must be united with all our brothers and sisters around the earth. We must also appreciate the importance of setting the example and that in time the whole earth will be united in brotherhood. God has built it, they will come. I like these verses: John 10:16 King James Version (KJV) 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. John 17:20-21 King James Version (KJV) 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

This is the Lord's heart for His people and those references you give make this plain. I believe that the divisions we see in denominations are man made, in the Lord's sight we are all one if we are true believers. The proof of a true believer is that we love one another.

So true! If we don't have love and display it in our every day life then we are not a true believer. We can talk about love for our neighbor but if there are no displays of love then all were doing is making a lot of noise. John 13:34-35 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Have a great day!

You are right GOD is good all the time. Too bad my hubby don't believe in God. We can still feel heaven here on earth if we are surrounded by religious and happy people. Continue praising God and pray for us too. Have a good day!

It looks as if your church is really international and very colourful when people come to the event in their national dress! Beautiful to see that you are all truly one in Christ and that you are sharing the gospel!

I hope we do not have to wait too long before we have another event. Harvest would be a good occasion. Lots of churches come together to celebrate this event and it is an opportunity to share produce with others who have less.

Is that church you belong is the church that Christ, built according to the bible. The church that the apostle teach to become a member with? As I remember I don't read such church in the bible.

Hi 41CombedaleRoad greetings. Let me also greet you "Happy 60th Anniversary of your beloved Church". May you have more anniversaries like this one. May I contribute one verse about unity, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity", (Ps. 133:1). God Bless.

What a great celebration you must have had, along with all the tasty food for the dinner as well. I love when we have missions celebrations and the various people in my church who have served as well as the international students come dressed in their country's clothing.
