Whenever I don't feel the spell of taking a nap, I used to count. It is an old way of gettingmy mind bothered to feel sleepy. How about you?

I never used this kind of technique ever. Even if I have known this before, I don't think this will work for me . I just try to think of nothing in order to sleep or just close my eyes until I feel sleepy.

I sometimes do have a hard time sleeping. I know this technique but I have never tried it on my own when I have difficulties sleeping. The thing that works best for me is just trying to think blank and close my eyes.

Hi Shavkat, I never used to count numbers to make myself feel sleepy to fall asleep. For me, the more I count, the more I got much more awake than earlier. So for me, my method to make myself sleepy and fall asleep is to think some sort of story that I make up in my mind or just think through what had happen on the day and what I hope will happen on the other day. Probably this is a weird method, but this is the way I make myself feel sleepy and fall asleep! Besides, I sometimes do read some books before I go to sleep. Some sort of History that most people will read until fall asleep because of the boredom of the history. Well, reading story books will make me feel sleepy too. Mostly English story books. That's because there is too many words I do not understand and I have a lazy butt to get off my bed to go get a dictionary and find the word. So yea, I just read and read and read and somehow, I feel sleepy that way. Well, that's was kinda weird of me maybe. Well, hope you will get out of this matter of insomnia again. :) Happy Mylotting!

I learn this new technique from you today. There is certain period of time during noon where I just couldn't control my eyelids from closing. I am forced to take a short nap to entertain my drowsiness despite my unwillingness.

When I was a child and couldn't go to sleep my mom would do this: Toes go to sleep(waite afew seconds) then Ankles go to sleep....and work all the way up as far as you need to. It works and you usually don't make it very far up. And I also meditate to clear my mind and that is sometimes the big problem. Yesterday I didn't sleep at all. Think I could have used one of these?

I count backwards to try to keep other thoughts out of my mind. If I start thinking or worrying about something I'll lay their all night and never go to sleep. It used to work better when I was younger though. Now my thoughts tend to over power my counting.

That's my problem now, I cannot sleep early. Our neighbor always disturbed my sleeping habits. I tried counting from 1 up to the thousands before I going to sleep well. I think I need to take sleeping pills so that I can sleep

I count after my alarm goes off so I won't go back to sleep. I've always been a good sleeper so counting sheep or just counting never worked for me. I like to read at night and that usually helps me doze off, the problem is when I wake up I forget where I was in the book. I have a Kindle so at least it shuts off on the page I was reading which helps me keep my place.

If I want to fall asleep, all I have to do is read a book. I enjoy reading, but for some reason it puts me to sleep.

I never used to take any technique to take a nap. I never take a nap but all is that when I sleep. anyway, this is the first time I have heard of such technique. I think it will work on some people. Good one and at least worth trying out. haha./ Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I watch television, videos or movies. I also go online to check e-mails, or log in to facebook, or twitter. I also sometimes drink really cold water or soda. Eat. Anything to keep myself from falling asleep. It's easier to keep yourself awake, than falling asleep, I think.
