Put a bell on Wildfire today.

I know. I know. Little kids and old ladies have bells on their bicycles. I'm kind of tired of pedestrians on the recreation trail wandering unpredictably all over the place. They step in front of me without looking all the time. This'll also let me warn them when I'm approaching from behind. I can't put a picture in this time because the family camera is on the fritz. I mounted it on the handlebar stem instead of the handlebars themselves. There is some genius to that beside being less conspicuous. When I slip on ice while riding I usually change grip on the handlebars to catch myself. I've busted a headlight bracket once grabbing the wrong thing. Don't want to do that. Only concern won't be a problem till warmer weather. Knowing my luck I'll ring my bell and people will start looking for the ice cream man instead of avoiding being run over by me.

mybe something that sounds like a foghorn or a loud noise that would go beep beep, a siren but maybe the police would not like tht. I hope your bell is loud enough.

I could go for all out overkill. My brother back in the seventies didn't much like the horn on his VW beetle. I dropped by an auto parts store stateside while visiting his girlfriend and bought the loudest commercially available car horn short of an air horn. They were very effective. He'd lay on the horn and everyone for three blocks would freeze in their tracks. I could mount a pair of those on the fork of my bike and get a twelve volt battery to operate them. I'd get some respect then.

Gpot it. I think he was quite smart. Of course, I would go for an air raid siren myself.

"I know. I know. Little kids and old ladies have bells on their bicycles." I am fortunate, I don't have pedestrians around me soI don't have to worry about alerting someone. My Little kids and old ladies accessory I want is a basket because I go to neighbor's homes and we sometimes exchange plants and it would be nice to put delicate plants in a basket rather than in a plastic grocery bag hanging off the handle. It would even cooler if I got a basket on the front, and a double one in the back, then I can also carry my gardening tools easily..

You need one of those ones with the big plastic flower on it. Right now I have a small cycling backpack but I prefer to strap my stuff to a rear rack. Lower centre of gravity and my back isn't prone to getting wet with sweat where me and the backpack meet. I have a rack attached to another bike but I'm having a little trouble removing it intact. If I can get it off I won't have to buy and hardware for it.

Hahaha, I think I had one like that with a flower when I was like 6 or 7... what memories...But now I would want my basket to be plain brown, and sturdy to hold my plants..

You need to get a squeeze bulb horn for that critter of yours. It would get attention and no one would think you were bringing ice cream. Hubby got one for a lady we knew who had a motorized scooter in the nursing home. Lime green and purple. Drive safely, and do not let Wildfire throw you.

I decided against the bulb horns that they were selling cheap. They're plastic and I honestly doubt they would keep working right with some of the weather I ride through. The risk of breakage is a lot higher too. We're good though. Wildfire hasn't bucked me off yet but I don't want to say that too loudly. I fully capable of crashing.

That pretty much says it. People walk around the same way they drive. I always thought children were taught to look both ways before crossing the street. Adults I think only listen. In cities you wouldn't believe how many times I've nearly beaned a pedestrian who stepped out in front of me without looking. Imagine driving a deathly quiet electric car.
