My boyfriend says he's under-dressed

Yesterday I had a date with my boyfriend. I texted him to treat him to lunch. I waited at my friends house for him to arrive and when he did and saw him he acted rather funny. I was wearing a skirt, a sexy blouse, some earrings and put eye-liner on. I don't usually dress like this. When he saw me he immediately said he was under dressed and good naturedly said it was my fault. He was expecting my typical shirt and jeans get up not the doll-like get up. LOL and he was in his faded shirt and jeans and slippers!! Instead of the typical cheap jeepney rides, he hailed a taxi instead and we went to his apartment so that he can 'dress up' too He says that men can be very vain. Also, he wanted to match me. A bit competitive but more funny really. I have never seen him act this way before. It's quite flattering and entertaining. I would tease him about this experience for years What do you think guys? Have you ever seen your boyfriends act like this? or have you guys ever done this to your girl friends? Thanks!

That is so funny yet cute. Me and my boyfriend lives in the same house so we get to see what each other would wear. So it's not really a mismatch. Though sometimes he really don't want to get dressed accordingly, I just let him be. I think your boyfriend is really vain. Thanks for sharing your cute story.

adnileb you and your boyfriend live in the same house? It's good thing that your parents allowed you to do so.

Oh, it took me a long time to convince my mom. We are in a relationship for so long now. So I guess it went okay to my mom.

Nope because when we go out to eat we just wear our normal clothes jeans a shirt but i try to wear some dressy tops when going out. I'm not into wearing skirts or dresses anymore unless it's for a special occasion. We haven't had a real date yet at a fancy place because we been so broke but I'm hoping soon when we have money we will get 2 it'll be nice to see how he would dress up :). Hope you guys had fun after he had to go change and stuff.

Us men are really vain, probably more vain than women. And sometimes we indeed frown at being outdone by our girlfriends. But kidding aside, I think it's just one way of showing how we value our girlfriends. I mean, if she had made an effort to dress up and look stunningly great, the least we could do is dress up ourselves and kind of show how we really appreciate what our girlfriends have done.

That's really nice to hear. I'm glad he appreciated my efforts. i wonder why men can be so vain but don't show it as much as women

When my husband was still my boyfriend, he would never show up at my house wearing the same clothes. It is like a sin for him to be caught wearing exact same shirt, pants and shoes. He was that vain. There even came to a point like I was feeling a bit uncomfortable around him. But guess what, when we got married, he became the exact opposite! Don't know why!

I guess so....but I also wish that he didn't change his ways.

Maybe since he is more comfortable around you during marriage and he doesn't need to keep looking good for you as much as back then when you were not married yet.

O aja its funny really. My boyfriend always does this thing. Whenever he finds me dressed up very nicely, he avoids taking the buses and hire taxi. Its funny but I love it too.

That's really cute and sweet of your boyfriend. Men doesn't want to look under- dressed or become a laughing stock for being over-dressed or dressed in-appropriately ( men's pride) Well, at least he did appreciate your looks and rather try to change his dress to match with your get up

He's a funny guy. Later after that he made me help him choose what clothes to wear.
