reading manga called vampire hunter D

I read the first novel in the series several years ago, but I have yet to continue with the series--just got too distracted with other things. I do remember that it was a very fun novel. Now that you have reminded me about it, I think that I may have to track down the next novel in the series.

I've seen Vampire Hunter D but never read it. It gives a phrase "Talk to the hand" a whole new meaning. When it comes to manga, my all time favorite is Berserk. If you're looking to something similar to D, it might be "Claymore". Can't really tell because I've only seen one episode but I kinda felt that vibe with medieval world and a demon hunter that is half demon herself. But now when I'm writing about it, it really reminds me of the book Wiedzmin (Witcher). Have you read Hellsing? The main character Alucard is the most powerful vampire and he works for Hellsing organisation that exterminates other vampires. If i remember correctly, D was son of Dracula. Well Alucard is actually Dracula himself (not a huge spoiler, just read his name backwards). Which brings me to this picture. I wonder who would win if they had a fight
