Penyengat Island

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to visit Penyengat Island. The island was amazing. Along the way, the weather is very hot. To Penyengat island, I boarded a small motor boat. People often call pompong. There are many historical buildings and royal tombs. In Penyengat Island, I did not find car. There are only a motorized rickshaw. Unfortunately, I do not carry, camera phone to take pictures.

Where is that place. I know there are many places of interest in your country. I've only been to Sumatra and visited lake toba .

Penyengat Island in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands. There are many tourists who visit the Penyengat island. Perhaps, one day you can took time to visit Penyengat island.

From its name, the island sounds scorching hot. But it seems very interesting. I like the fact that there is no car. How big is the island? Are there many people live on the island?

Island is not large. I read the brochure, Penyengat Island, measuring approximately 2,500 meters x 750 meters. Who live there, more than 5000 residents.

Yes. We can use a bike to around the Penyengat Island.

Nice..., perhaps we can ride bikes along the coast of the island, and it will only be less than 7km around the whole island!

This Penyengat Island sounds interesting. Glad you had a safe journey and that it was interesting for you. Too bad you weren't able to get any photos taken.

Yes. Penyengat Island, is a very interesting island. Although it was very hot, but Penyengat Island, the island is very unique, and I feel like visit Penyengat Island again. If I have the opportunity to visit Penyengat Island, I will not forget to bring a camera.

wow..it`s unlucky when you didn`t bring the camera or cameraphone in penyengat island. i think it`s one of the good destination in riau province..

Yes. It is unfortunate, I did not bring a camera. There are many historic buildings and beautiful scenery, which can be in the photo. I'll bring a camera, if I had the opportunity to visit Penyengat island.

I really feel great and enjoy strolling along historical places as it reminds us of how people live in the past. Only it's a bit unfortunate that you were not able to document your visit.

Yes. It is unfortunate, and I am very disappointed, not to bring a camera to capture the historic buildings and beautiful scenery on Penyengat island.

It must have been exciting for you to board the motor boat for you to go to the amazing island. I like the sound of the historical building and there being no cars whatsoever. I saw some motorized rickshaws in Indonesia in 2004. I hope that you will go back to that island another day for a very enjoyable day.

I live in Tanjungpinang. From Tanjungpinang, takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Penyengat island. If not mistaken. If from Singapore, takes approximately 2 hours to reach Penyengat island.

The name was spooky. Ever wonder the tale behind the name? Is it because there are lot of bee, scorpion, snake and other "penyengat" animals.

According to the story, first there is stung (disengat) by a bee, when it comes to the island. Then the island called Pulau Penyengat.

@sishy "penyengat" is a different with "menyengat". "Penyengat" mean something that could stung. While "menyengat" is thing that have been done by "penyengat". I believe this what you have mean, "panas yang menyengat". @indah So I nearly correct with the tale behind it.

Penyengat Island located in province of Riau Islands. I went to Penyengat iisland by boat (pompong). Weather, air, and water is very good. When I visited the island the weather was very hot.
