I am a steak lover! =D I love to eat steak very much! But i do control myself not to eat too much. My friend use to tell me that if i live in the western countries, then i can eat steak all the time. ^^ How about you? Do you like to eat steak? I know many people are very health conscious nowadays. They prefer to eat white meat especially fish, because fish has more protein and less fats. Although precisely, white meat depends largely on culture, time and location, but it is commonly agreed that white meat consists of meats like rabbit and chicken; while red meat mostly comes from the flesh of big mammals like mutton and beef. Even goose and duck can also be classified as red meat. There are pros and cons between white meat and red meat. White meat is best known as meat that is lean, compared to red meat. Best point of white meat is that its fat content is less than that of red meat. Meats traditionally thought of as white (like veal and lamb) have been reclassified as red meat. Another plus point of white meat over red meat is the lower number of calories that it contains. Eating red meat has been discouraged because many cuts are high in cholesterol and saturated fat. However, red meat has a place in a healthy diet as long as you choose the right cuts of beef and opt for leaner ground beef. Adding one or two servings of fresh or organic lean red meat to your weekly diet will supply your body with many vital nutrients. Benefits of red meat that white meat simply lacks, for example, are nutrients zinc, iron, thiamine and riboflavin (apart from vitamin B12 and B6) appears in much greater abundance in red meat. So, if you are a red meat lover, choose lean red meat as it fits into a heart-healthy diet. =) Enjoy food and take care of health!

I bought two beautiful New York strip steaks at the grocery store today. We don't do steak very often, but these were on clearance for 30% off because they had to be sold by tomorrow. I can't wait to throw them on the grill tomorrow evening! A little bit of salt, pepper, and a couple other seasonings, and they'll be perfect! Do you season or prepare your steaks a certain way?

A mushroom sauce with cream is perfect with a veal cutlet, but I never tried with a steak.

Oh, that is wonderful! Yes, seasoning will be nice. I am still new to cooking, so i did try from the cook books or recipes that i can find online. Will start off with seasoning the meat, and put it to grill according to your level of tenderness. Then i prefer white sauce or so called mushroom sauce. And pour over the meat and serve. =) Mine is simple, but nice! Hehe... Add in some fresh blench broccoli and carrots would be healthy. *wink*

I admit, I do love a good piece of steak, and I can eat quite a bit of it myself. When I do eat steak, I try to find what has lower amounts of fat since I go through so much of it. As a big boy, I work and play hard, so my appetite allows me to have a nice really big piece of steak, or three.

Oh thanks. My consumption of it isn't human. I can buy a pack of steak, cook it, and eat it by myself. I need the fuel. When I started doing that, I thought it was insane, but now, I burn it off and still search for food. My stomach drives other people crazy eating so much food and still complain about being hungry. I love it, even though I have been barred form some peoples homes.

Hi agent807, LOL...well, i can understand your joy of eating and the happiness of being able to eat crazily with the tummy you have. It is jealous to those who eats and will gain weight thereafter. I used to be able to eat a lot and not gaining weight. Many people around me are jealous of it. However, i don't eat that much now....i try to cut down the amount of consumption a meal. I plan to shrink my tummy before i get older. Otherwise, i might have digestion problem later. Hmmm...i have not face the situation of getting barred from people's home. Well, you need to take care. If we can eat, and then digest healthily, that is great. Enjoy!

I also love red meat. I don't feel full unless I have had a hamburger or some such red meat in a week. I also like white meat and love a good thick piece of turkey. Chicken is okay if there isn't alot of fat. My favorite white meat is pork and love a nice pork steak brown very nicely with just the righ amount of fat around the edges.

OooOOOohhh...yes, turkey! I love it too! In my country, not always we can find turkey meat. Usually it is only popular once a year, especially during year end as it is near to Christmas. =) Hope you will get to enjoy your pork steak this week! \(^o^)/

I used to eat a lot of red meat but, as I get older, I feel that red meat is not as healthy as white meat. So now I use white meat for ground meat but I still have a lucsious steak once in a while. When I have a steak, I want the real thing. I want a thick, rare steak with some fat besides the meat. I like it sizzling hot with salad and boiled potatoes. I understand that leaner cuts are healthier, but when I have red meat, I want it with everything

Hahaha, i found another red meat lover just like me! Yeap, i learned from my mother too, that as one grows older, they should consume less meat, and less red meat. But it is fine to consume them once in a while, just like you. Wow, do you do have skills in cooking steak? Yeah, lean meat is healthier, but you can have all you want once in a blue moon. Take care, and be healthy always. Cheers! ;)

I also prefer red meat to white meat, whatever the nutritionists think about it. Despite that I eat mainly red meat -- moderately, but several times each week --, I have no cholesterol, and I agree with you : there is nothing better than a good steak.

WoW! That is fantastic! Good to hear that. =) I love walking and cycling too, but people says it only helps your leg muscles. They advise me the best exercise is swimming because our whole body moves. This is true...but it's been a long time since i swim, not sure if i still remember how to swim. =P

Nothing like a big, juicy t-bone steak! That is if you can afford it! We choice to buy our meats at a meat market where we know they don't add all those preservatives in their meat. We're definitely not vegeterians, we love meat whether it be pork, beef chicken or fish! I think anything can be unhealthy for you if you don't do it in moderation.

I think when they replace things in food it's because they want to get more for the money. Just like adding intestines and such to beef also known as "pink slime". It's just a filler (that's not good for you) to make the meat stretch, but you're still having to pay high dollars!

Yeah, that's right. This is the world today. Meats are replaced to weird and cheaper types, and prices are still charge highly as original. Fruits are sprayed with chemicals, and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides. Sigh...how can we find healthy food to eat? Even if the food is healthy, but they way business people handles it for money, makes it bad for our health. @.@

Hi STOUTjodee, yes exactly. We need to eat moderately for everything. Any healthy food which is over consume will become unhealthy. It has been few weeks since i ate steak, that is why i am missing it much now. I see that you are mouth-watering now...hahaha! =D I am not a vegetarian too, but nowadays much meat are bring falsified. Do you know that in China, chickens are replaced by rat meat?! I was shocked when i see those emails forwarded. I am not sure how true it is, but i am very sensitive when i see certain chicken meats are very small in size. But they do cut it to chicken sizes, so it's difficult to differentiate. =(

Just because steak is readily available does not necessarily mean that a person can eat it every day, as several responders have mentioned it is a rather expensive food product. Many families have to budget in order to feed the family for the week, so steak constantly would certainly fall out of the reach of a great number of people. There is also the factor that despite how much you enjoy a particular food, it will not be as desirable if it is offered for each meal. Before long you would welcome a change and probably enjoy a basic food product far more than a steak. I do eat steak, but once a week at most.

Hi Asylum, thanks for your response. That is true, that we should not eat steak everyday. I was asking if you like steak? I have not eaten steak for almost a month! :O And that is why i am craving for it. I like simple healthy dishes at my home for meals. =)

Meat is murder, tasty, tasty murder. I like red meat, white meat, basically any kind of meat. I know that too much red meat is bad for you so I limit my intake to just once a week. I mostly eat fish and chicken. I do love pork chops and I grill a mean batch of them. Red meat has a lot of calories yes, you can tell the fat and calorie content of the animal your eating by just looking at it. Cows are fat, chickens are small and fish are thin. Pigs are fat, we get more from a pig than we do a cow, i.g. bacon, ham, pork chops, ribs, Ohhhhh, I could go on and on.

Fortunatly for me, I don`t have cholesterol problems. It seems that cholesterol levels is a lot more genetic than depending on what you eat. So, if your tendency is to have high cholesterol levels, you have to avoid some food. But us, lucky ones, can indulge in red meats once in a while with no problems.

Hi gitfiddleplayer, hahahaha... you seemed to enjoy yourself with the meats. Hope you don't make yourself mouth-watering. =D Yup, we need to control the amount of meat we eat, and i usually takes it once a week too. Normally ate more vegetables. Hehe, meat are delicious, and i do agree with your sharing...it is a tasty murder. But let us eat to health, okay? \(^o^)/ Cheers! Hi marguicha, good for you with a healthy body. That is what everyone wishes for, to have a healthy body to be able to taste all kinds of nice food out there. Although we are healthy, but we still need to eat with care. =)

i am very often to taste this steak and usually it is beef because the price of this in the market is expensive compare to the pork and chickens, though it is expensive but the taste will give you a really satisfaction and after you eating it you will say i am satisfied with the price.

Hi asliah, yes...steak is really delicious to me. Recently i just tried to cook steak. However, the meat i bought wasn't the right part i guess. It spoils my meal. Some supermarkets sell beef meat without stating the parts of the beef being sliced. The meat we cooked was really hard to chew despite being medium well. So, i felt it was a waste of money for that piece of beef we bought. Anyhow, will be more careful in choosing the beef in the supermarkets so that we can cook a better steak and say, "yes, i am satisfied with the price and steak i ate".

Hi toxic_lifestyle, you should try it...it's really nice! =) If you are not afraid a little blood, then go for medium-well steak. It's about 70% cooked, the meat is soft and tender. If you can't see blood, then will need to go for well done (100% cooked). But well done steak is hard if fully cooked, so it's difficult to chew because the meat is hard. Anyway, since you are curious, why not give it a try? Who knows you might love it. Hehe.. =)

Honestly I know most people love a good steak but I'll pass. I'm not a fan of red meat. The only time I eat read meat is occasionally in Italian or Mexican foods that's it and I don't care for steak. Especially when its cooked rare. Some people enjoy that but it makes me feel like I'm eating raw food and that bothers me. I like chicken a lot and Turkey on occasion. I even like the fake meats vegetarians eat lol. I guess it will keep me healthy but like you said all things in moderation. Besides I don't know too many people who can afford to eat a fat juicy steak all the time lol.

Hi Sindelle, first of all, thank you for joining this discussion. Well, if you are disturbed with the food being raw, then cook it up to the level you are comfortable with. Who says you can only eat steak raw? I eat medium-well cooked steaks! =) You too, can do the same! c",) Hahaha...yeap, sometimes vegetarian meats do look like real meat, but they are made of flour. Yes, we do not eat steaks often because it is expensive. But we take it once in a while, and sometimes during special occasions for celebration. =)

It doesn't matter where you live, you can eat steak everywhere whole time. What counts is if you have the money to pay for it. Steak is expensive where I live, I don't even eat it once a year! if you like steak that much (I assume it's the kind of steak I have in mind and what we call steak) you should ask yourself what kind of lack you have. Since if we do long for some kind of food very much we mostly have a lack of something where our body is asking for.

Hi WakeUpKitty, oh really? I did not know that steaks are expensive in Netherlands. I notice it from your profile. Well, steak is expensive in my country too. But i can buy and cook them myself. Buying red meat from the supermarket is not that expensive compared to dining out at the restaurants. The steak i am referring to is something similar the picture shown in my discussion. Steak is beef, so is cheaper compared to meat like venison. Are you serious that i am lacking of something, that is why i love eat red meat? Come to think of it, according to health research companies which i join previously, i learn that "O" blood type people needs more red meat. But do you have examples, or which research basis do you have regarding your statement "if we do long for some kind of food very much, we mostly have a lack of something where our body is asking for"? I love to eat all kinds of food. And certain food i can eat them everyday. But i don't think that i am lack of that something in my body because it will only increase cholesterol, or fats in my body which is unhealthy. But, still thanks for your views! Have a nice day, friend. =)
