According to the Census of population in Canada, the Tagalog is now the 5th in the most common language language spoken in Canada. Because the growth of Filipino population in Canada has widened the use of Tagalog language in the country. :)

That is nice.. i think it called Filipino though, the national language of the Philippines.. there is a difference. I guess it is nice that parents are teaching their kids the national language.. even those pure Canadians.

Filipino is the national language of the Philippines, while tagalog is also a language, it was also the name of the national language before.. The only difference between the two is there are some added words in Filipino, Visayan words.. etc.

So 'Tagalog' is a Phillipino dialect? Heavy population in Canada? Interesting. We are getting alot of Iraqi and Afganistan people here where I live.

Tagalog is the old school language of the Tagalog region, Its more of a language than dialect. The Language "filipino" on the other hand is Tagalog with a bit of Spanish and English. Most Filipinos in Canada are Nurses, Doctors,Physical Therapists and Caregivers. So a Hospital is the most likely place to find them. Most Filipinos are multiracial so they can pass as any race. There are Filipinos who looks Hispanic, there are Filipinos who look like Pacific islanders, there are Filipinos who looks east Asians and there are Filipinos who can pass as white. so the reason why you may not feel our presence in your place is we assimilate well.

Yes! Tagalog is the primary dialect being used by most Filipinos in the Philippines. And somehow, I'm starting to be really proud becoming a Filipino because of this news. :)

"Growth of Filipino population in Canada" - you got it right! Well, I know a Filipino family who just migrated to Canada, and based on their stories, their area is filled with Filipinos too. There's no wonder why Tagalog is now considered as the 5th common language in there. Based from what I've heard, Canada is open for migrations, especially in provinces like Winnipeg (is that right?).

Now I see! It's just like the growing population of Chinese people here in the Philippines, so that many families were enrolling their children to Mandarin class in order to learn Chinese language. Because they believed that someday, we will be already using Mandarin as our main language. :)

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well to be very honest, Tagalog language is completely new to me as i have never heard about this language before. Yes u are right, when a country is inhabited by a number of people of a particular community then generally their language tends to become a majority language and this has what has happened with Tagalog language due to the presence of Filipino people in Canada. What say?

This is something that we, Filipinos, should be proud of. Imagine, other nationalities are actually learning how to speak our own tongue!
