Manchester United v Arsenal

November 3, 2012 5:52am CST
Not long to go between the match between these two old adversaries. What do you think the correct score will be? Do you think Van Persie can find the net? Let me know your predictions. I will go for the following: Manchester United 3 Arsenal 1 Goalscoerers: Rooney 2, Van Persie 1, Podolski 1 Tie break: Time of first goal: 27 minutes We'll give: 3 points for the correct score for each team 5 extra bonus points for a completely exact correct score. 3 points for each goal scored by your nominated goalscorer. In the event of a tie the winner will be the one closest to the time of the first goal. It's just for fun,you won't lose any money, but everyone will gain a tiny amount from Mylot for posting - so it's win/win. Let's see who gets closest. Good luck!

Man Utd has socred 2. It has been very hard for Arsenal now. I personally hope that Giroud chould score 1 and he has such an ability. However, the middle fielders of Arsenal seems unable to create chances for him.

Absolutely. But Podolski is a winger and he is supposed to create chances while he should also try to goal. Giroud is a striker who mainly consumes the chances created by middle fielders and wingers. So Podolski in fact should had performed better and created more chances for Arsenal. Podolski need to cooperate with the striker! So Wenger should try to arrange tactics for Podolski and Giroud. You'd see that if Klose is in the squad, Podolski could perform very well in the German national team but when the striker is Gomez, Podolski would perform terribly. Because Gomez doesn't have the ability to cooperate with Podolski as Klose does. So Wenger should definitely research the relationship between Podolski and Giroud. If he could make them perform well together, then these two transfers worth. If they could not be on the squad together like how Podolski and Gomez do, Arsenal waste too much money on them.

You're right, Podolski and Giroud have not been playing well together at all... In fact, I don't see Giroud as a sharp striker; he has yet to prove his worth at Arsenal. MU, on the other hand, gains one of the best striker with RVP. Hernandez does not get to start anymore, or does not even get off the bench since RVP is there. Arsenal badly needs someone to replace RVP.

Podolski barely got any chances as well... Very, very hard for Arsenal indeed. I hope they can come up with some improvements soon...

Well, i don't know coz both aren't my favorite in BPL. But, perhaps it's become a tied game coz both team have best attackers like Roney, Chicarito and RVP in MU side and Podoloski, Giroud and Walcott in Arsenal side. Maybe MU little bit superior coz they play in their home so i think they can win but with 2-1. But this season MU don't have a good defender so they must pay attention for Podoloski and Walcott movement if they don't want their defence destroyed by Walcott or Podolski. Draw result is still can happen in this game. Maybe RVP can show his quality in front his ex coach, Mr. Wenger with make a goal

Yeah, barely 3 minutes into the game and he made a goal already... It looks to me as if Varmeulen (spelling?) 'forgot' RVP is no longer in Arsenal...

It's looking tighter than I thought, but Rooney helped Arsenal with his miss!

I'm not sure who won this little 'competition' but Wendi did mention that the score may be 2-1.Although she didn't state the time of the first goal or exact goalscorers she did mention Van Persie, so I suppose we should award her the victory! Well done to everyone who took part -we were all pretty close to the actual outcome. We must do it again some time.

I am responding after the match. Manchester United won the match 2-1. Van Persie opened the scoring for Man United in the 4th minute itself. Then in the second half Evra doubled the score for Man United. Cazorla got a consolation goal for Arsenal with the last kick of the game. But it was a game that was dominated by Man United and they deserved their 3 points. Cheers! Ram

Yes, and Chelsea could not even get 3 points at Swansea... Nor can Manchester City at West Ham. Will it be the race between the two Manchester teams again for the top spot, I wonder?

Yes, I think the scoreline flattered Arsenal.Rooney should have put the game to bed from the penalty spot. That result puts United top of the EPL - I think they will be hard to shift now.

I think this sets up the hectic festive schedule very well. I think whichever team comes out of this with their noses in the front would have a great advantage in the final title chase. Cheers! Ram

Well, you almost get it right only if Rooney did not miss that penalty... Anyway, there is still the second half to go...
3 Nov 12
Looks like you are in front David so far. I still sense there will be at least one more goal yet so you might get it exactly right.

I've been waiting for this game; mostly perhaps just to see how RVP will play against his former team... I'm not good at predicting at all, and I'm more of an Arsenal fan than MU. I realize that Arsenal has yet to find its good form since RVP left; and on the other hand, MU has had an excellent start this season. But for fun, as you said, I'll give it a try anyway: MU 1 (RVP) - Arsenal 1 (Podolski) with first goal at 60 minutes. By the way, where will the game be tonight? Old Trafford or Emirates?
3 Nov 12
Thanks for your response sishy. The game is at Old Trafford and it starts in just over 1 hour's time (12:45 GMT). It will be fascinating to see how RVP is received by the Arsenal fans and how he plays. Best of luck with your prediction and thanks for sharing!

10 more minutes to go... I was hoping more will put in their predictions here. There are some great soccer or football fans here who I know can predict well.
