I was without electricity for 4 days,,but I had no damage or flooding. I am not feeling too great health wise, but I certainly wish there was some way I was able to help the people who are really in the worst aftermath of clean up..even tho I am not well I would help in any way I could...My body is telling me that I am not in any position to do anything to help with the clean up but my heart certainly keep saying there is something I could do... I heard on the news that the best way to help those that are experienceing damages, flooding, homes destroyed is to help financial...to be honest I am just not comfortable sending money...I sent money only twice to the Haitian earthquake and to Katrina hurricane relief fund..and I wasn't comforable then...But in my heart I wish I could really lend a helping hand... but actually none of that devasation happen in my village. there were some flooding but no homes destroyed and people mostly were just without power... God is good and at least I will go to bed tonight with them in my mind and a prayer from my heart....

Hi BJ, I know it. I have been reading about this in the paper and I feel so bad for those people. I know what you mean about sending money though. I'm not usually very comfortable with that either. I am not always trusting that it goes to what is really needed. And what gets me is that our government and our people are quick to help other countries when people are faced with these natural disasters but honestly, who ever jumps to our aid? What I was reading that people were very cold and very hungry which makes me wonder...why? They were fighting over food? How is that happening in our country? Why are they not being set up in hotels or shelters and being fed? Why are they out in the cold fighting in lines for food? That was what I was reading in today's paper and it just struck me as so wrong.

Hi sid, thanks so much for responding,,,after hearing in news about so many places scamming people for money using legal establisnments names,,it makes it difficult to just send money not really knowing where it is going... Yes I see the same thing you saw and read and its just terrible I know that once the power was up and running, the gas line here was just unbelieveable, people was waiting in line for up to 2-3 hours...but there was no rationing of the gas as of yet, not in the village like it is in some places... and before the power was on people was in line at maybe 2 of the gas station that was opened with their gas cans to get gas for their generators..so they could bet some power in their homes....

Oh yes, I saw that too about the lines at the pumps!! I am surprised that they are not rationing it! It just seems like there should be more help for these people then there is and a lot sooner. I mean, it' s been days and when something happens overseas...we are right there. I don't get it.

Maybe there is someone's kid you could watch while they clean up. I am sure the prayers help also.

Thanks Gerty, I could do that, but that what I was trying to say, there was flooding the commercial area of the village and now that the electricity is back on the village is almost back to normal..all that damage seen on TV was not in my village....

Hi eagle, you understand just what I mean...I really want to help but these conditions are not where close to where I live...the burroughs that was so devastated are so far away from me... All I can say is that I know that my heart is in the right place...and I will continue pray for them...
