The Great Pumpkin, not really. What I've been doing since I wrote last part 1

My brother gave me a pumpkin. I cooked it. He had wanted pumpkin pie. I opened it up and it had been crossed with a spagetti squash. It was full of strings. So I got my smoothie mixer out, put eggs, milk, and pumpkin in the blender. Took a lot fo smooth it out. Tried the first pie and it was pretty grainy in texture. So I put less liquid in at first and really blendered it like crazy. The next pies turned out better. Two not very thick pies and one deep dish later, my husband is pretty pied-out and wants cookies. I'm pretty blandered out. I'm not sure if the pumpkin is still good, normally I cook the seeds, but I gave these to the birds, they were huge. The pumpkin didn't seem that big until I started making things with it. So did you ever have a cross-bred surpise? Did a project ever start out easy and get complicated?

I love pumpkin and we grow loads, but I'm always rather wary of cutting into a monster. Once you've started on one you have to finish, and everyone is really sick of it by then.

True, but you can freeze some like I froze a pie at my brother's house. You can make preserves or other things with them for later. But right now, it's a challenge for my health.

When my projects grow, I tell people I am "making an elephant" and I will do that a lot. If I am preparing food for an activity, I make enough to feed an army, if I am doing a craft, I go head over heels into it. It sounds like you made the pumpkin/squash work. Pumpkins, melons, squash, and cucumbers will all cross if planted too close together. Oh, and gourds too. It makes some interesting looking things.

Probably some interesting tasting things, too. There was no hint that this was a cross. Looked 100% pumpkin. Not whitish, not oblong, not greenish, looked 100% pumpkin on the outside. Someone had given it to my brother and he gave it to me, so I had not warning. I'm getting pretty head over heals into fiber so I know what you're saying.

I have never had a cross bred surprise but when I had my surprise cucumber plant pop up, there were a lot of people that mentioned gourds that would cross breed. They said that they weren't much for taste though..just decoration mostly. Now projects getting complicated...well..lol...I could write a book about those.
