Do you used to cover your computer with a cloth after your use?

My desktop PC exposed while it was covered - The covered cloth is moved away to a little to expose my new computer.

I just used to cover the computer with a cloth after my use. I doesn't matter how many times I switch on and off. I just do the same. Do you have such a behaviour? I just do so, to prevent my pc from dust particles. So that it works fine and looks new. How much do you care your it ? How do you care it ? Share all your views and experiences

With all the different computers I have owned over the yrs. this is something I have never done or considered. I just leave mine when not using them, and even leave them on. I am always accessing my Computer so much, I cannot imagine doing any of the other stuff. Even on the days I am gone most of the day as well.

This is my 4th computer in 13 yrs that have been brand new. The only reason I replace them is to get the new version of windows. The one I use now I have been using over 3 yrs and it still works great.

I have a laptop and for the first 2 years I also had a desktop so I was always storing my laptop in the laptop case after using it, with the protection cloth and everything. Now that I am using the laptop as my primary computer, I don't store it and leave it on the desk without a protective cloth on it. But I regularly wipe it with a wet cloth to take the dust and keep it clean.

Dust can damage the computer so it's better to keep it covered with the cloth! From time to time, they say that it's good to get the laptop or pc to a shop and clean it internally. I haven't done that yet but I think it's time for me to think about it! Just remember to take the cloth off when you use the computer because it will get warm if it's not aired properly!

I used to cover my laptop when it was new, but as it is getting old, I do not always cover it with a towel. In fact, to cover the computer with a cloth or towel is a good habit of taking good care of the computer. I think that I need to cover it again for the protection of my computer from dust. Thanks for the nice discussion.

I hope this discussion helped you to remind you and some others to enable the protection to the PC. Anyway you have to keep going with the habit.

Hi wonderboy. That is actually a good habit to have but I have not ever got in to the habit myself. Dust actually does a lot of damage to stuff. I am usually so hurried that I rush off and out the door for the most part..lol. I am lucky to get a jacket on myself half the time

I would ask you to keep your PC at a corner where you find there is only less disturbances. So that it doesn't matter you need not to cover it or not.

I dont think covering the PC is a good thing as it will increase the heat inside.Atleast you should not cover it just after using it.

Ive never covered my pc. I just make sure to dust it off every morning. There was a time when I had a keyboard cover but it slowed down my typing so I stopped using it.

If you dust your pc on every day then there might be on problem but still i find little problem with it because dusting of with a piece of cloth will not move the dust particles which entered into the cpu.

I have never covered my computer and coming to think about it, I have never covered furniture or anything that I remember. I have an aunt that kept everything covered all the time and when I went to her house I felt a chill of not being welcomed. Maybe for that reason, covers and aprons are out of my life. I do clean the computer though.

I wonder why you don't care you things a lot. The appliances or the gadjets which you have with you is bought by your hard works and you must care it.

I do cover my laptop's keyboard after each use. I do not close it- so I just cover the keyboard to avoid dust getting inside that causes trouble with typing.

I had seen many of my friends using rubber mats which protects the key all the time. I think you can make use of such a mat. I think it costs only less.

I put a cover on my keyboard, but that is only because my cat Smyles sits on the keyboard every chance he gets. I used to have to unplug the mouse because Smyles and Kali used to play with it. I never cover my computer or my furniture. The only cloths I use are on my kitchen table and my craft table.

If you cat just used to play with the mouse and the keyboard them you need to give more attention to them. Didn't they put any troubles to you? How do you deal with it?

Most of us people feel really lazy to do it but still I am sticked for doing that. My family members are not much concerned about that and it is me who just used to do it all the time.

yes of course, it is required. This helps our computer to be free from dust . I do it every time. Last month we bought a new monitor , so some more extra care, my brother always has one cloth to dust it,every time. That's so funny. He is taking some extra care .

prashu yes. when it is new we always take extra care and attention. you may remember as a school going girl you might have kept your new geometry box or toy near your bed while going to sleep. even now if you buy new mobile with camera, internet etc. you will keep it near you when you go to sleep. it happens. I am happy your brother is taking extra care of the monitor. what is the cost of led monitor you bought recently?

Well, it is proper to cover your computer from dust to keep it clean & free from dust. Although not 100 percent free, at least better than nothing. However, I only cover when I was using monitor screen & cpu. Now with laptop is not necessary as I will keep it in the bag after use. Once in a while you can open up your cpu with screwdriver to clean inner parts. No matter how you cover with a cloth, still there will be dust. This is because your processor and fan will accumulate dust in it. Have a good day. :-)

Yes, laptops will have hidden dust since the processor and CPU inside will accumulate dust, which is not visible from outside.

Doesn't this approach causes your PC's CPU to get more heated up? I think you should leave the back of the CPU to let some air flow.

I do. When my laptop was still new. I would dust the keyboard everyday, wipe it all over and cover it when I am not using it. But then, I got tired and forgot doing all of them. So now, my keyboard base is so dirty and full of dust. I don't know what else to use to clean it up. Do you have any suggestion?

If you find dust on your screen just make use of a lcd liquid cleaner it will move all the dust on the screen. If you find dust on the metal just wipe it and if you find them inside i would ask you give it for service.

I'll do them all. It has dusts all over! I arrive home at night so I rarely see the dusts. But when Sunday morning comes, I couldn't believe it! Thanks for your suggestion, I will try to look for that cleaner.

hi wonderboy, We don't have desktop at home anymore. But when we have one before, we used to also cover it. You can also buy those covers that suits the size of your monitor and CPU. As for the laptop, I normally do not put any covers... but I think it is better to put a cover since most of the time it gets dusty.

I don't need covers becuase I have a cloth which is used for covering the computer after the use. I think it is much enough and I felt that the covers are just waste of money.

I also do that. Covering with a cloth after use is a matter of giving value to our property, protection, especially that we live near a busy road, dust is everywhere here and so, a cover is a must. We have several of them, different design and colors to make it presentable. My wife and I share the same desktop at home. She uses it for some online gigs and I used it for my online games. Thanks

WB, good to know that you are using cloth to protect your computer, it is the best way to avoid dirts and other things. I am using cover for this purpose and always cover my computer with the cover to protect it from outside dust

So do you make use of covers all the time to cover it ? I recommend you to remove those covers while you use it becuase those covers will not give proper way to give out the heatness produced by the appliances.

I used to do this, covering my computer with a cloth, but not literally after use, I let it cool for a few minutes then I cover it. But now, I'm using a laptop, so I don't do that anymore. Instead, I dust the monitor and the keyboard after and before use. :)

I don't allow it to cool. I don't think much about it and today onwards I must do it. Otherwise it will put troubles to my PC due to the heat
