Loosing your job over facebook

I've been reading on some articles on loosing your job because of some bad comments,and other negative comments on your facebook page.for example : A former undercover cop lost his job for posting sensitive comments about his job on FACEBOOK, ABOUT HOW MUCH HE HATED HIS JOB.Also talked about his explicit times when would be working as a plain clothe cop,the officer facebook page was private, but still got kicked or fired from his job.So be very ,very careful what you post out there.thanks

People from companies, school and other businesses have been very vigilant on the things being told about them through Facebook. I know that there have been a few who have been pulled out from their jobs and students who have been under probation for posting comments against the companies or schools. I think that it is okay to vent your disappointments but not to the extent of trying to destroy the name of the company or school. If there are issues that needs clarifications, the bet thing to do is confront the office involved rather than ranting in online.

Really? I didn't know about that. But that is one reason why we should refrain from posting so much without thinking of what others might feel about it.

I think it's ridiculous that he was fired over comments that he made on his FB acct. which was supposed to be private in the first place & that were made when he was not on the clock. Now I could see if he were making racial comments or anything of that nature then that I would understand, but complaining about his job is something almost everyone does. I see no good reason for his being fired & if I were him I would fight it.

thanks for the response , there was also another incident of sociology professor got fired after they found out she posted a comment joking around , she wrote "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND VERY DISCREET HITMAN ? And BOOM! she was done from her job. CRAZY WORLD .

I've heard several stories about people losing their job over Facebook. Some people create a separate Facebook account for business to try and avoid such issues. I'm guessing it was someone on his friends list. You're right people should be careful what they put on Facebook. All it takes is one person to be disgusted with his unprofessional behavior.
