I saw this some years ago and I am watching it now. This is the most sickening movie I think I have seen in a long time. How in Gods name can a woman let this happen to her child??? So not only do she end up with two children by her Dad but she has HIV, homeless and struggling to stay in school. Has anyone else seen this movie?

Yes I have and I thought it was a very well made movie. Believe it or not, things like this are going on every day. I worked with HIV/Aids pts for 12 years. While Precious had a rough life, she rose above it and achieved. A lot of people would not know how to get on with their life. My parents were not the best, and I left the day after I turned 18 as a female and went in the army during Vietnam era. I did not just go in the Army I ran. I wanted out of the past I was raised in. I was fortunate enough that my parents didnt have any more children than me. or I would have stayed home to protect them. While this is a very dark and shameful movie in one light, it is a very genuine hope that some of us can crawl out of that dark place and gain respect for ourselves. Thats what the Army gave me Respect to God, Country and myself. And for that chance of a new start I am ever greatful for being female and being allowed to go in the Army.

I forgot to add another movie you might want to watch is "The Color Purple" it again shows how easy it is for parent and child learn to survive.
